Title A name given to the resource September 11 Digital Archive Stories Description An account of the resource This collection is the bulk of the archive, representing the reactions and experiences of thousands of individuals beginning in 2002. 911DA Story 911DA Story: Story Tell us about what you did, saw, or heard on September 11th. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: It was a normal day not just like any other for me. I rode the train to work after getting my family ready for the day which included my son and husband- my husband off to work and my son who was 4 at the time off to pre-school. Anyway it was not long after I had come into my buidling on the 9th floor and I was getting settled for the day, my husband called and told me of what he thought was a bomb or something that went off in the world trade center. As he was telling me, my co-worker was receiving the news from her husband. We just stopped and looked at each other and immediatly my co-worker turned on his radio to hear what was happening. I didn;t know how bad it was at the time, but news quickly spread around the building as we listened to the radio to hear of another explosion and what it was in all actuallity, a plane crashing into the one Tower. Then shortly after that the other building was hit. We could not believe it , that it was actually happening. It seemed more like a action movie then real life. Then we found out the Pentagon also got hit, so we sat here stunned. Next our President of our company told us that we could go home if we wanted to and everyone evacuated our building and I started for home. I remember looking up at one of Chicago's tall buildings thinkind wow what if that happend her what would I do. The next thing that I did was rush home to call my mom who lives in upstate NY to see what she thought of all this that happend so fast. At first I had a hard time getting her on the line as the phones were all jammed up with people calling loved ones. But finally I contacted her and we talked for a hour both looking at the tv together one in one state and one in antoher. I always talked to my mom when something big happend or something that was a tradjedy in one form or antoher. No matter wher or what I would talk to her and we would see it through together. Anyway to me remebering that horrible day helps to bring some closure for me but it also lets me remember all the people who had to die that day one year ago and pray for all those families that lost their loved ones too.
