911DA Story: Story

On September 11, 2001, during the time of the attacks on the two buildings in New York, I was at Dupont Hospital in Delware. I was in surgery having an inercaranial monitor put in my shunt. All of a suden, a nurse came into my room and told my mom and I that their was an attack on the World Trade Center. I just sat there in shock. after a couple minutes, my doctor came in and told us that another plane had flown right into the Pentagon. My mother and I just sat there exchanging glances at eachother. After hearing this terrible news, my doctor said he was going to try to call his brother, who at the time worked near the two buildings. When he tried to call the lines were busy. After about a couple of hours trying to get a hold of his brother, someone finally answered. His brother was ok.
From that day on, I have always felt the fear of being attacked again in the future, I no longer feel safe flying in an airplane or even going to the airport. Being in a wheelchair, I am worried that someday when I am just trying to wheel around on a nice day, someone could come up to me and try to harm me in some way.
