I was on the late shift at work that day, meaning that I didn't have to be at work until 12:00 P.M. I decided to sleep a little later than usual. I remember hearing my mother in the living room, as she kept saying something like "Oh no, oh no." I didn't get up at first, but eventually I got up to see what had happened. The first plane had hit the Twin Towers, and my mother was watching the coverage on television. We were watching together as the second plane hit, removing any doubt that it was an accident (as the networks were still speculating after the first plane hit). My mother and I are friends, and can talk for hours, but that morning, I don't remember having much to say as the reality sank in of what had just happened.
