911DA Story: Story

I'd begun packing the night before for a trip to visit my son
and daughter-in-law in New York. My flight was scheduled for
the morning of September 13, 2001.

At about 6A.M. on September 11th, I was awakened by the most
crushing phone call of my life. My son, Chris, told me to
turn on the TV. As I tried to focus my sleepy eyes, I could
see the smoke and flames from the first tower hit. As we
silently watched and listened, the second airplane hit the
other tower. We finally realized the magnitude of the attack.
Terrorism. Everyone screaming, crying, running for their lives.
Then, the Pentagon was hit by another plane. The World Trade
Center Towers fell...it seemed like they crumbled in slow
motion. The huge plumes of smoke and dust and rubble rolled
through the streets of New York like a raging storm.

I would have been on the same flight that went down in
Shanksville, PA...just one week later.

God bless all those who gave so much that fateful day. God
grant their souls peace and their families and friends strength
to continue without their loved ones. God bless all those
brave individuals who, without question, raced in to help
save lives and assist all those who had been injured.

GOD BLESS AMERICA! OUR FREEDOM WILL STAND AS A BEACON OF
STRENGTH TO ALL THE WORLD - FOREVER.

We're stronger now. We will not falter. We've been reminded
that our love for one another shall never fail. That it has
been the love of family, friends, neighbors, and our country
that has provided us with the greatest blessings.

Sharon Tirabasso, as I remember September 11, 2001.
