I was at work when a co-worked (Marianne) yelled over to my office that her mom was on the phone and something hit the World Trade Center. We rushed for my Boss's office to turn on CNN to see what happened. One after another co-worker came into the office with blank expressions on their faces. I had hoped it was a movie, that it could not possibly be happening for real. We sat in disbelief and sadness.

Our office sent us home to be with our families. I went and picked up my girls and took them home where I felt safer.

I hope to never feel that helpless again.
