911DA Story: Story
My friends and I had just started boarding school the day before. We woke up on the morning of 9/11 anticipating our first day of real school for the year. We walked down to breakfast as we had the year before, and walked to the study hall to do a bit of last minute homework. None of us knew what would happen about an hour later. We all went to our first and second periods as normal, and then went back to study hall, as most ninth graders did during their third period.
I remember walking down to the school bookstore to get a few of the books I needed for my courses. My friend and I were the only ones in the bookstore. Little did we know our headmaster was walking around to the different classes filling the different students in about the events that were happening that morning.
Anyway, my friend and I were in the bookstore, and the first thing the lady behind the desk said was "Hey, did you hear what happened?"
My friend and I both said, "What?" at the same time.
"Well....two planes have just hit the World Trade Centers and the Pentagon."
Well, being from San Francisco my first thought was' what the hell is the WTC?' A second later I remembered and I backed up against the wall. "Your kidding!!"
Well, she wasnt, and even though we thought she was untill our friends told sus differenetly, the actual idea didnt sink in untill that night when we watched CNN in the dorm. Even though I was not dirrectly effected by this tragedy, I had nightmares for a very long time afterwards, and many of my friends were.
