911DA Story: Story
I couldn't believe what I saw when my father got me out of bed in the morning. He turned on the television and we watched the buildings fall. I didn't really know how to react, but all I could feel was sorrow for the families and friends of those lost. When I went to class later that day my teacher told us to leave because we had worries that were more important than his lecture. I shared a somber afternoon with some of my classmates in the school lobby where we watched the footage on the news. It seemed so distant at the time, I live in a suburb of Chicago. My insightful little sister asked me how I would feel if it had been the Sears tower in Chicago, or if my parents had been killed at work. It was unimaginable to me, and I just have to share the nation's greif over September 11. I can only hope that our "war on terrorism" is the right thing to do. We are in a difficult situation, but America has done well to unite and support itself. It's been seven months and I think America has done it's best to pull through a horrific trajedy.
