911DA Story: Story
The morning of September 11, 2002, I was getting ready for school when my husband came in and told me that a plane crashed into the Trade Building. I started watching the news and listening to hear if it was an accident.
Soon after tuning in to the news, the second plane hit the other Trade building. Too me, this was no accident. It was a scary thought. Why would someone do this? I asked this question to myself over and over again.
Sadly, a third plane hit the Pentegon. At this point I was extremely horrified. I thought for sure Chicago was next! I left school early this day and drove around gathering my thoughts. I was still asking myself that same question, Why?
It is difficult to fathom how someone could carry out such a sick terrorist act. September 11th was a sad day for America. It showed how evil could stike even a country as great as ours and make us all vulnerable.
I prayed for the victims who lost their lives and for their families, friends, and loved ones. I especially prayed for the survivors to stay calm and let their hearts heal. I prayed that people, as well as myself, would find answers and hopefully take that information and make some kind of significant change in the world - for the better.
