Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: Sept 11th, my husband never came home to me. Lt Robert Cirri, of the Port Authority Police Dept went through the Holland Tunnell at 9:15am with a team from the PAPD police academy. He called me from a police phone at my job as a nurse and said "Im here. I got to help get people out. I love you so much and I will call you as soon as I can". I waited. I watched. I knew he was in tower one. at 10:29am, Tower One fell & NEVER did I think I was a brand new widow. I wanted to go volunteer as an RN, but my mom told me to think of the kids, dont go & wait for Bob to call me back as promised. I thought I saw ripts place him in floorshim on TV at noon in front of St Vincents hospital..it was another police Lt. Then the Port Authority called...I was told he was MIA--missing in action. I dont remember much more of that entire week. On Feb. 9, 2002, my husband's body was found with 5 other PAPD officers, 70 ft below ground, 10-20feet from an emergency exit door. They were carrying a woman out in a stairchair. she had needed oxygen. Radio transmissions indicate that he was on 20's floors. Im so proud of him. and I am lonely every night for him. My best friend--my soul mate--my security blanket. We were to grow old together. He was funny, loved children, loved helping people (he was a paramedic as well).
