911DA Story: Story
I worked for American General in Houston, at the time the first plane hit the World Trade Center. I was facilitating a meeting for a massive project for AG as the project manager. All of sudden I heard a radio loud from the conference room. We opened the door to see what was going and that's when we stepped out to learn that America was under attack...
Everyone basically just stood listening to the radio in shock. Work ceased as we began to talk amongst ourselves. Management could plainly see that not much work would get done that day.
We received a corporate email that stated we were being released to go home due to the uncertainty and our vunerability being in one of the tallest buildings near downtown Houston.
That was it I was out of there and on my way home to my family. We basically just sat around the rest of the day glued to the TV for more details, calling family and friends and crying for the families of the victims.
At one part of the day, I was so moved that I stood in my bedroom and sang God Bless America with every fiber of my being and began to pray for our country.
That night at church, after prayer, God placed that same song on my heart to share with the congegation.
God Bless America!
