Tell us your story: hi my name is lauren and im from texas. the morning of september 11 was a normal morning i got up at six ate breakfast and then ran upthe street for my ride to school. We arrived at school at 7, ready to start dance practice. that friday was our 70's peprally, so we were dancing along to love shack. then, at 8 mr zepada one of our APs came on the announcement and said, "due to the recent tragedy in new york if all teachers could turn off their televisions untill further notified. Becasue we ariived before and were not allowed to listen to the radio, we had no clue what was going on. Immediately my mind raced to what the "tragedy" could possible be. The president was assasinated, another school shooting, someone else famous was assasinated. I had no clue. During this time our director called the office to see what the caious was all about. after abotu 30 minutes she returned, though something was different. She seemed shocked almost like maybe she had seen a ghost or something. we danced for another 30 minutes and then called circle. After telling announcements, giving compliments , and planning for the next day, our director finally todl us waht had happened. She said that two american airline jets had hit the world trade center towers. my mouth dropped. i coudltn believe it. i dont know how anyone coudl belive it. just that past year before i had performed int he macys parade, and had the cance to go into the world trade centers and see the view from the top floor. I was in complete shock i thoguht maybe it was a sick joke, but it wasnt. throughout the day none of the teachers obbayed the AP every single television was on. We walked like mummys to and from all of oru classes. you woudl walk in watch the televesion and then walk out.after school i immeidately went home adn turned the tv on. i sat there for 3 hours. i coudlnt belive that somehting soo magnificent could be gone in seconds. most kids in my school have never been to new york and dont really know the greatness of the towers i on the other hand spent 2 hours in amazement jsut making my own tour throughout the buildings.
