911DA Story: Story
The image that kept returning as the day went on was the faces of the workers in the Twin Towers. I had been in NYC for three summers at Columbia U. On July 11, 2001, I finally got to go to the Twin Towers. I was so impressed by the friendly people who helped us find our way around. They were not the New Yorkers people said we would find. I worried about them.
The other image that Kansas Citians faced was the blocklong gas lines that tangled the rush hour traffic as fear spread. This was the image that I had seen as a young child at the start of WWII. I realized then that our world had been shaken in the same way. Judy H.
