Title A name given to the resource September 11 Digital Archive Stories Description An account of the resource This collection is the bulk of the archive, representing the reactions and experiences of thousands of individuals beginning in 2002. 911DA Story 911DA Story: Story Tell us about what you did, saw, or heard on September 11th. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I work at home and was busy working that morning. I called my doctor's office around 9 AM to make an appointment and heard the women in the office talking about somebody's son who worked "there" and they were wondering about how he was. At this point, of course, I had no idea what was going on and decided to turn on the television, just in time to see the second plane hit. From that point on I could not turn it off. I called my sister to let her know what was going on. I tried to call my mother, who is a civilian employee for the Navy downtown, but was unable to reach her. I could only pray for her as I watched the proceedings on the television. I saw the first tower start to sway and then collapse and could only wonder why I saw this on the screen, but the news anchors were not talking about it until after it happened. At this time I started to pray for everyone. Needless to say, I accomplished very little work after that point. While I lost no one that day, sitting here and writing about this still makes me cry.
