Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I'm sure for everyone Sept. 11th started out as any other Tuesday morning. I had just arrived at work when I heard about the first plane hitting the tower. I remember thinking that it was just a small plane and thinking that it really wasn't a big deal. Looking back I realize how selfish of a thought that was. At the time though no one realized what horrible day this would turn out to be and being from a small town in Indiana I especially didn't realize how closely I would be affected by all of this. As the morning got more horrific I could only think that I needed to know that my little girl and husband were alright. I think everyone probably thought the same thing even though logically I knew they weren't in harms way. My little girl was with her babysitter who is also a close friend so I knew she was fine, but my husband drives a semi and was about two hours from home. I remember fealing so relived that he was back only to find out that he was leaving in only a couple of hours to go to New York. My husband also drives chartered buses and he had been asked to drive FEMA to the disaster site. All I could think about was the fact that he was going to be so close to the danger. He kept telling me that he would be fine and that he would be back soon and I could only think that so many people in those buildings told their loved ones that they would be home soon and so many never returned home. My husband did come back ten days later. He and all the FEMA workers came home to a heros welcome. I've never felt prouder of him. I know that he saw some horrible things while he was there, some I'm sure I still hasn't told me about and may never will, but I'm sure that if asked to go again he would in a heartbeat. Like so many others I didn't personally know anyone that lost their life that day, but I feel like have a connection with so many. Three days ago was the one year anniversary and just like last year my husband was in his semi, my little girl was about to go to the sitters, and I was about to go to work only on this Sept. 11th I made sure I hung the flag out before I left.
