Tell us your story: Getting ready to leave the house Tuesday morning to see one of my clients for a massage therapy session, I heard an explosion which shook the house. First thought was to call Fairfax County to alert them, then thought a noise that loud would already have their attention. On the way to my client's house, I turned on the news and was horrified to hear that the Pentagon had been hit. Not until I arrived at my client's house did I find out it was a plane, and about the WTC as well. My client and I were both flight attendants for United, and were again horrified to watch the coverage of th 2nd tower being hit. I cannot remember when or what we found out about the Pennsylvania crash. We went ahead with the massage session with the TV on, and cried together as it became clear that at least one UAL flight waent down. We would later find out that we knew most of the flight attendants on both UAL planes, as well as some of the pilots. Neither of us was surprised at the attacks, as many of us had just been waiting for the inevitable to happen, and for the terrorists to choose the airlines they did: AMERICAN and UNITED. We are bonded by this sharing of the events as they occurred, and will never forget that day. I retired from United Airlines the following April 1st, 33 years to the day that I began my career.
