When the challenger exploded, my father told me to sit down and watch the news..."history was happening beore my eyes." That morning i was awakened my my father in law telling my husband and I that teh World Trade center had been bombed. As i walked grogly into the room expecting to see nothing more than a small fire I couldnt believe what was happening. I watched in horror as the second plane found its final resting place in wtc 2. I was shocked and truely afraid for the first time. I immediately found myself hugging my children and telling them the words my father once told me. I looked at my 4 month old and wondered if he would ever know about what was happening that day. As the first tower fell and the news of the pentagon came about, I knew I was in no signifacant harm, but then my family came into mind, They lived in Kansas City. I called and they were as mortified as I was. Several hpours later I had to drive into Mena, a very small town about 30 min away. I was shocked to see cars in gas stations that wound around for blocks. I thought to myself, we are not a target, terrorists dont even know we exsist here......But still I inew nothing would be the same. And it wasnt. And I pray that it never will be.
