I work for the Department of Defense. September 11, 2001 is a day that I and my co-workers will never forget. We buy boots and shoes for all of the military and I'm responsible for the quality of the footwear that we buy. That morning, we had footwear contractors in from Michigan and were going over some of our contracts when somebody came by our office and said that a commercial airplane had just crashed into the WTC in New York. I thought that was odd because it was a clear day and I couldn't understand how an airliner could do this. Someone had a radio and we started to listen to the reports when they said another airliner crashed into the second building of the world trade center. At that moment, we all looked at each other and knew we were at war. The contractors wound up driving back to Michigan and we have been supplying large quantities of boots and shoes to our military ever since. I think this was the worst attack against our country ever. This was a sneak attack against innocent civilians with a tragic loss of life. I'm confident this country will not ever rest until all of those responsible are brought to justice...
