Title A name given to the resource September 11 Digital Archive Stories Description An account of the resource This collection is the bulk of the archive, representing the reactions and experiences of thousands of individuals beginning in 2002. 911DA Story 911DA Story: Story Tell us about what you did, saw, or heard on September 11th. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I was sitting where I am now, at my computer at work. I work in a corporate park that is located in Trumbull, Connecticut in an enviroment seemingly far removed form the hussle and bussle of wall street. At work, I had no access to TV as the events, of Sept. 11th unfolded. There were scattered radios in the office and any attempt to sign onto CNN on the internet was futile. People present, were walking about trying to find out what was going on, as concerned calls from relatives were coming in telling us what was unfolding on the screens of their television sets. It seemed unbelievable, but did not hit home or become too scary until we started looking out the front of our building which is located directly across from the Nasdaq Stock Exchange. We watched as the bomb squad arrived. That is when people really started getting nervous and personally, that is when it started getting scary. To think out here amongst this pretty setting, so far removed from the New York scene that we too may be in danger. It was at this time that the building we were in was notified to evacuate. There is only one road out of this complex and cars were backed up in single file. As we left the building, we passed the bomb squad across the street at the Nasdaq Stock Exchange. Policemen had rifles out and at the ready as they looked into cars slowly streaming out. As we got to the end of the road out of the corporate park, there were more police officers with rifles drawn and even more scary, a huge truck filled with sand blocking the road off completely, except to allow a single file of cars slowly pass through. That is when I realized, that even amongst this beautiful rural setting lined with trees, that I was no where as removed from what was unfolding in New York as I thought I was, and like everyone else in this country will have my own special memory associated with Sept. 11, 2001.
