I remember we were all at work like any other day. On the phone selling auto ins. to people in PA. One of our customers had their t.v. on and just started yelling. We went and found the T.V. used for training videos and turned it on and watch the horrible news together. Some of us did leave work early for the day as we were told we could if we needed to. I rushed home to get my kindergarner from school and younger child from the sitters just to have them near me. I remember how hard it was to explain to both of them why me and my husband were crying later in the evening as we watched the news. This year now 4 and 6 they understand a little more of what happened that day. My 4yr old told the sitter today I'm wearing red,white and blue in memory of the people who died in the building hit by a plane last year. My 6yr old had an all school assembly by the american flag today where they resited the pledge and sang patriotic songs as a school. He also was dressed in red,white and blue.All of us at my work made an effort to wear red,white and blue and just remember while we took calls as usual. one crew member made each of us flag pins of beads and saftey pins. many of us helped so there was enough for all. Today has been a glumy kind of day for all I think even though we have riased above last year and grown closer to friends as well as our families. Not a day goes by that I don't tell my family I love them. Today the 4 yr old didn't want to let me go at the sitters. I think she senced the mood we all have been in today 09/11/02 one year later.
