Wal-Mart had never been so empty or quiet. I had to get some groceries...what if this happened near where we lived? They were broadcasting live radio in Wal-Mart. The few people I did see were crying. Nobody talked. It was really spooky and I was so scared! How can I shop for groceries at a time like this!? I wondered if I would see my children return from school that day. Maybe the same thing would happen all over the country. I was 8 months pregnant. I cried for so many reasons...the lost lives, the survivors' horror stories, the hatred that was building in Americans...etc. I cried because I felt guilty that I was bringing another life into a world that suddenly seemed so violent and bleak...

...and I still cry.
