911DA Story: Story

THE EVENTS OF SEPTEMBER 11TH

I was in 6th grade at McDougle Middle School. The principal had waited until the afternoon to go onto the Public Announcement System and tell us of the events that happend on that day. He did not tell us much. Instead, the teacher gave all the students letters to give to thei parents. He didn't want to create any problems. My teacher turned on the Television and we saw what was going on. One of my friend's father was in the building and asked to use my cell phone to check in on him. She was frantic. He turned out fine, he had been lucky and had gotten out in time.
When I went home, all I remember is turning on the TV and seeing the haunting images of the Twin Towers. It looked horrible, I felt so bad for the people in the building. It was just a like a fireball in there. I was amazed that it had happend. It had seemed like it was a normal day. In a way it was a good thing, it united people all over America. It affected EVERYONE. You felt something. Horror or greif, or something else. No hate crimes or anything happend in my school. Some people said things to me, since I'm Muslim. They stopped after a while, though. I think know that its 5 years later and I am in West Springfield High in Virginia, that it is still an important event in American history.
