911DA Story: Story
I will never forget September 11th 2001. I was driving on the highway and heard the first reports on the radio about the horrible events that had just taken place. The first thing I thought of was my cousin, John Coriasco that worked at the WTC. Wondering if he was o.k.
Also, most of my family lives in New York and New Jersey and with my sister frequently going into NYC for work and being unable to place a call from my cell phone to New Jersey or New york, all I could do was wait and hope.
When I had finally reached my office, all of my co-workers were glued to a small television set, watching the events unfold. We all just stood still and quiet watching news coverage of the first plane that had crashed into the WTC.
As we watched, the second plane came crashing into the towers. We couldn't beleive what we had just seen!!. I continued to attempt to make calls to every family member in NY and NJ but was still unable to get a call through.
After a few minutes, I left my office and returned home, continuing to try to contact my family, but was unable to.
Then, when the news of another plane crashing into the Pentagon and the the next going down in Pa. It was very apparent that this was going to be the beginning of the next war.
All day, I had been glued to the television to try to come to grips with the unimaginable things that had happened that day.
I was finally able to make contact with my parents in NJ at about 4:15pm, and finding that all family members were o.k. and accounted for, put me at ease.
I continued to watch the news into the late evening. Finally going to bed around 1:00am with images in my mind that would last forever.
My heart goes out to all that were involved and that have suffered great loss, due to the tragic events on September 11, 2001.
May God be with you........
