On Sept. 11, 2001 I was awakend by the ringing of my telephone. It was my mom telling me to turn on my television because a plane had just hit one of the twin towers. I hit the power button on the remote just in time to see something that is forever etched into my memory, the second plane hitting the other tower. As so many others in the country, I sat glued to the television for hours, holding my then 7 month old son. I cried for those who lost their lives and those who were going to go home that night missing a loved one. Over the last year, many things have changed. One thing that remains the same is every day I hug my now 19 months old son, and now his baby sister too, and thank God above that I still have them and they still have me.
