I was still asleep in a small California Town North of Los Angeles when the Attacks on the World Trade Centers and the Pentagon took place. It was about 7:oo a.m. when my radio alarm came on, "America is under attack," anounced a popular morning L.A. radio talk show host, confused and bewilldered I attempted to hit snooze when the talk show host continued on with the horrible news of september 11th, I then proceeded to turn on the television, to find the pentagon in flames. the news then aired the horrific photographs of the planes crashing into the world trade centers. After watching the horrible news for a while I proceeded to go to work.
The hardest thing about september 11 was to be at work. I work at an elementary school as an aide, as I walked on campus that morning classroom televisions Reapeated the Collapse of the Twin Towers. Many of the older children were emotional and worried, while the younger children were confused. The children asked several question that were quite hard to answer, some wanted to know what happened to the people who jumped out (they viewed the people falling from the buildings on television), many were concerned about the children in the schools in New York. Most of them were scard they thought that our school was in danger, alot of children were kept home where the parents felt they were safer. I just want to know one thing, how do explain hate to these kids who know nothing but innocence and love? How does someone teach a child not to settle things in violence when the television repeats WAR!!! ?
