911DA Story: Story

How did you witness history on September 11th?
I was at work. Somebody came into the office and told me the twin towers had been hit and I thought that it was a two or four person plane-never dreamed towers had fallen. I just thought that the people in the plane were hurt. Then I heard it was hit a second time, and I was like, "What's going on? It is it a joke, or what?" The news was on, in the Judge's conference room so I went out there. The buildings started to collapse, and I couldn't understand what was going on. We were all watching in disbelief. One woman in my office was very scared because her husband was in the Pentagon.

I appreciate life more. It makes you realize that just going to work could be your last day or someone that you love's last day.

What do you think should be remembered about September 11th?
The heroes, the people that died, the families left behind, the survivors, how our nation pulled together.

Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th?
Yes, we flew a flag. I appreciate more what the American flag stands for. I don't take it for granted anymore.
