911DA Story: Story

I remember waking up at 5:50 am PST, turning on the TV, and seeing Tower 1 with billowing smoke coming out of it, and hearing them talk about how they didn't know what happened, they just knew that there had been an explosion on the top quarter of the building. Then I saw the second plane hit Tower 2 and I didn't know what to think, say, or do. I was just sitting on my couch in disbelief that a plane had actually flown into the World Trade Center. When I was seven, I remember living in an apartment in Manhattan near the United Nations Building and going to the World Trade Center one day and just being amazed at the shear height of the towers. I went to the top, and out on to the observation deck and looked out and I could see all of New York City. It was and always will be the most amazing sight I have seen. I have wanted to be a firefighter for about a year now and seeing the 9/11 documentary on CBS last night has just fueled that aspiration even more. I still to this day don't understand how somebody could do something like that, religious issues or not. I will always cherish living in New York and getting to go to the World Trade Center. Nothing will ever be able to fill those missing twin towers in any (past or present) New Yorkers heart. Those towers were and are the pride and joy of any New Yorker who ever touched or looked at them. Visiting this website was part of a homework assignment for a senior contemporary world problems class but reading others stories made me want to share mine with you. God Bless New York, Washington D.C., the United States of America, and the modern free world.
