911DA Story: Story
I was laying next to my husband, asleep, when the phone rang. It was my dad. "We're at war," he said very solomnly. "What?!!" He explained about the planes hitting the WTC and that it was no accident. I was mortified. I kept thinking, "I was just there." (My family went to New York City the summer before for vacation. I stood on top of the WTC and looked over to the Statue of Liberty in awe. This made those people whose lives were lost so much more real to me.) For three days, my husband and I sat in the dark house, crying at the TV. It was the individual stories that hurt us the most. Finally, I had to stop. I couldn't look any more. I turned the TV off and got back to my life. But I will never forget. No one will ever forget.
