911DA Story: Story

Sept.11
This is a day that will be etched in our memories forever, much like the attack on Pearl Harbor and the assasination of Kennedy. We have always read about these incidents, but we have never fully grasped the concept of living through one of these tragedies. Now as we find ourselves in this place, we must give thanks that we have been spared from this tragedy. When I found out about the attacks I was horrified, I sat in my classroom and watched the buildings fall. I told myself that I have to remember this moment, because I will one day be telling this story to my children. When I heard that a plane had hit the Pentagon I burst out crying because my brother, Jack, who was in the army was stationed in WAshington D.C. The next 24 hrs. were torture for my family, we didn't know where Jack was and if he was safe. During that time I felt the emotions that the people who lost their loved ones felt. Luckily my brother was not in the Pentagon during the attack, but because of this attack he will soon be sent to the Middle East, and I fear for him greatly. I leave with the words that we have continually heard since the attack but I feel the strength behind them...."God Bless America"
