911DA Story: Story
I am Andrea Lowery and I was at home when the attacks happened. I was watching the morning show with my son and my niece. I usually had cartoons on so I guess I was meant to see what happened. I remember thinking a plane must have run into the building accidently and then I saw the other plane hit live and I immediately called my husband at work and told him waht had happened, he kept saying,"are you sure?" I wanted him to come home, but knew he couldn't leave work. I just sat with the two babies and cried. I cried for days after it happened. I saw a photo of a firefighter in a magazine and I decided to draw a picture for him and his loved ones. I drew him with angel wings and a halo, it was beautiful. It helped me with my mourning process. I searched for weeks to find out the name of the firefighter and finally I got a hold of his wife. I asked her if they were all okay and she said they were. I sent her the drawing framed and matted and she sent me a picture of their children with my drawing. I just felt that they should have it because it was her husband. It was the best feeling I've ever had to send that to his family and to know they'll always cherish the picture I drew for them. I also wrote some poems to help me, it's much better than crying. I feel fearful today, but I have confidence that our government will protect us. There are many more good people out there than bad and we will prevail. Take care everyone.
Sincerely, Andrea Lowery
