Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I do not think about the events that occurred on September 11, 2001 as much as I used to. I do not cry for what happened anymore. I do however remember the day?s events vividly, and I am more than positive that it was a day I will never forget, nor was it one that I could or would ever try to forget. A student at Virginia Commonwealth University, I was in class when the first plane crashed into the World Trade Center. When the professor allowed us to leave early, no one did, we all huddled around televisions, and watched the plane crash into the building, over, and over, and over again. The magnitude of what was occurring not even beginning to sink in. Of course it was an accident, of course everything would be ok, it would be just another news event, nothing to worry about. My family would be okay in Virginia, I would be okay in Virginia, my friends would be okay in Virginia, and everything would be just fine. Back in my dormitory there were large signs posted everywhere. Information, counseling sessions, phone banks to call loved ones; the Governor would be visiting campus, classes were to be forgiven. How could this affect us in Virginia? It couldn?t, no way. It did. Without a television in my room, I found a radio, and used the Internet to gather information. The Pentagon was next. It had come to us. My mother worked at Quantico Marine Base, no answer on the other end of the phone. It kept ringing, ringing, ringing. Was she in danger? Of course I would believe so until I heard her voice, which would not come to me until much later in the evening. A frantic call from my stepmother put my mind at ease, my family just outside of D.C. was all right. My sister called from work to get the latest news, what could I tell her? Only rumors, bombs in the White House, President in danger, all high rises evacuated, we?re at war? I did not know if any of it was correct, all hearsay, and passed on information. There was a gathering at the student commons, I watched reports on CNN about a terrorist attack on the United States, and this was what they were calling the events by then. They didn?t know the predator, but we all felt like prey, even in Virginia, where it could not have possibly reached us, but did. I watched both planes crash into the towers, a crash site somewhere in Pennsylvania, saw the Pentagon in flames, a place I had driven by so many times, having grown up just outside Washington, D.C. The nation?s capital was being attacked. What was going to happen to our country? A die-hard Democrat, I had loathed George W. Bush, but my friends and I gathered around a television set and watched our President speak, anyway. His speech brought me to tears, and comforted me in a way no one else?s words could have. In this time of crisis, our leader was behind us, and not backing down. We would be okay, they had found us, but we would be okay, our nation would survive, even if thousands had not. After the attacks we signed up to donate blood, food, anything. My mother volunteered her services the day of the attacks at the Pentagon; saw firsthand what these terrorists had done to our nation?s capital, her hometown, and our country. A month after the attacks my mother drove me by the Pentagon, she told me to look at what they had done to us, to never forget, to be proud of our country, to thank God for our lives, and to pray for those lost. I watched the building in the rearview mirror, and felt a sense of closure, we had been injured, but the country would move on, together. Even now, six months later, I feel the effects of September 11th. The memories tug at my heart and sometimes I want to cry from the articles I read, the pictures I see, pictures of babies who will never meet their fathers. I want to cry for weddings that never took place, for lives not finished. I look at the world through different eyes; I look at our nation with a newfound pride. I believe in America now, I know what she can do, and what she can allow all of us to accomplish. We are a strong nation, and I know this now because of what we have survived, what we have lost, what we will become. It's difficult for me to understand the extent of the damage to the US from the Sept. 11 attaks. I understand that the enconomy wasn't doing too well afterwards, I understand a lot of people lost their lives that day, but as awful as this may sound it's hard for me to understand the vastness of the accumulated damage. I didn't lose a family member to the attacks, I didn't lose anything. I watched everything from the television; I never saw it in person. To me it felt like a bad movie that I could turn off and it would all disappear. Nothing seemed real that day. Not even the attacks. The Pentagon has been completely repaired like nothing ever happened. Until I see ground zero I will never fully understand the extent to which the attacks affected out lives. When I turned it on I saw the first trade center. smoke filled the air. I had no words to describe my feelings. Mostly I was sad. Then I witnessed the second plane hitting. I suddenly became terrifed,realizing this was no accident.I called my mother she still resides in N.Y. When I found out what had happend and who could be responsible I was furious. I couldn't believe anyone could hate us that much. I mean I always thought out of all the countries you could live in the usa was the best. You were allowed to dream and no matter what position in society you are you can always overcome it as long as you tried hard and knew what you wanted. Teusday, September 11, 2001 I opened my eyes. Despite the sun, shining through the window, I was immediately reminded of how unlucky I was. How everything in my life was a total mess. I was reminded, that in spite of the beauty of the day, I was in darkness. The injustices of the modern world rolled around in my head. On a day that should have been celebrated, I chose to be sad. I chose to be a victim, to waller in my own self pity. I made my way to the kitchen to start the morning coffee; the drink that would nourish my frayed nerves, and get me through another miserable morning. Still drowsy, I picked up the tv remote, and fell back onto the bed, intending to find escape from the bitter thoughts that continued to surface in my head. As the darkness of the screen turned to scrambled colors, and then began to come into focus, I strained through my drowsiness, to make sense of what I was seeing! As the smoke began to pour from the object of my attention, I wondered. What middle-eastern capitol had suffered another terrorist attack? Must be Bagdad. Pakistan? As I became oriented to the events of the day, I realized that this was not some third world country. It wasn't Beruit, Ireland, or Pakistan. It was here, in the land of the free! There, in the confines of my safe place, through eyes that were, now, as clear as glass, I was awakened from my selfish stupor. For, there, before me, was the worst of nightmares. All the fury of hell, unleashed, right there before me. I knew the place. The twin towers that were the World Trade Center. New York, New York. There was a gaping hole in one of the towers. I watched in disbelief, as the smoke and debris poured from the damaged structure. An announcer was saying that a boeing 767 , had crashed into the building. In the back ground, I heard the screams of sirens. The camera focused on the the top of the buiding, just in time for me to see what appeared to be a person, jump from the firey hell. My pulse quickened. Beads of sweat formed on my forehead and began to make their way down my face. As my trembling fingers fumbled for the drink that would dissolve the lump in my throat, a tear fell. I watched it as it splattered on the morning paper,smearing the ink, as if to wash away the words that were important, only moments ago. Another tear fell, and then another. Once again, my vision was clouded. Not because of selfishness or apathy, but, this time, from the flood of tears that could not wash away the images, that by now, had played over and over in my mind. There I remained, unable to move. I watched in horror as another airplane came into view on my tv screen, travelling from right to left, taking aim, and, plowing into the second building. Once again bending steel, shattering glass, and destroying everything in it's path. Momentarily, I heard screams, and gasps. As the the camera panned the crowd below, I saw the look of shock and disbelief on the many faces that looked upward. Others ran for their lives, thru the ash and soot, not knowing where they were going. Confused and choking, they ran. Still others, ran straight into the hell, hoping to save someone, anyone! Soon, one building began to cave in on itself, one floor smashing into the one below it, until all that was left was fire, smoke, and the screams of the dying. The other building followed. It was now, as dark as night. Angels wept, as the many rescuers, who had saved so many lives, gave theirs. They wept as passengers on flight 93, shortened their lives, to spare the lives of the many, would be victims of target number four.They wept as people jumped to their deaths, hand in hand, to escape fire and smoke. They wept as the pentagon was struck, and erupted in fire, killing many more. And then God smiled down upon us. For we prayed. United we stood, hand in hand, and prayed. There were no selfish prayers that day. Prayers were for our fallen brothers and sisters. On that day, September 11, 2001, we showed our true colors; Red, White, and Blue! Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I was sitting in my first period class, Government. I was a Junior. As usual I was half asleep and talking to my friends. My teacher heard what was happening and immediatly turned on the tv. As 20 17-year olds watched this tv, two planes crashed into the sides of the World Trade Center towers. We were devasted. No one said anything. Then we heard about the Pentagon and the classroom erupted with crying. Living so close to the Pentagon, we knew that some of our loved ones either worked at the Pentagon or were close by. Most kids were pulled out by their parents so by the end of the day, half of the student body was present. I remember being in my last class of the day, Chemistry. My father worked close-by the Pentagon and my mom often visited DC. I figured they would have taken me out of school but they didn't. At one point I looked out the window and saw a truck identical to my father's. I panicked. I was crying hysterically. I swore that it was my mom that was hurt or worse.... I went into my teachers office and I called my mother. I couldn't reach her and I couldn't reach my dad, he didn't have a phone. When I got home that afternoon, right when I walked in the door, the phone rang. It was my mother telling me that she and my dad were all right. I was so relieved. I thank the Lord everyday that no one I knew was hurt. I also pray for those families that lost their loved ones. 9/11 is a day that will forever be on the forefront of my mind and of everybody else's. I want to just say thank you to everyone involved in the 9/11 rescues and clean up efforts. I for one salute you. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: My father and I were British tourists staying in the Pennsylvania Hotel 34th/7th. We walked out of hotel and saw a blacked out police car (looking a little like K.I.T.T from Knight Rider) driving down 7th through the traffic. It was 09:15ish. We walked across and in to Penn Station where we were promptly told over the tanoy to make our exit in an orderly fashion - Being British we were used to bomb scares and thought little of it. Out in to the sunshine to awaiting reporters. Confusion and no explanation as to what was going on. We walked as far as 14th street (we had been planning to go to the Statue of Liberty) when we started to meet people walking back and noticed the smoke (although my father felt it looked like a cloud - he'd seen on the news that a storm was heading up the coast). People were crowded round shops with TV's and we started to pick up on news that there was a fire in the WTC - We had been up tower 2 on the 9th. We walked back to the hotel and waiting in the queue to phone home. We gave up because we could get through. We spent the rest of the day up town - most of it outside the Lincoln Centre. Watching fire engines stream past and wondering whether anyone back home knew what was going on. We eventually got back to Heathrow on September 19th - we had been due back on the 13th. Last night September 11,2006 I was watching tv and there was a documentry on 9-11 before I knew it I couldn't leave the room afraid I would miss something. We all know there were jumpers and felt the horror of that. Last night I heard the crashes for myself and never will be the same. I will carry that sound deep in my soul until I go on after life. I am one who gets angry that the victims seem to be lumped all together. It's the WTC story and the people that were lost. Like all souls were one. They all had a life and story, when I heard the crashes of bodies hitting the ground that day it only reinforced what I felt. If everyone heard that sound if they heard it as I did one after another it wouldn't be just "victims" we would think of one more life lost and a horrible end of their lives.I didn't know names I'm sure no one does but, I didn't have to,they made their impression on me. I haven't forgotten all the others, lives lost in fire and smoke. Some just gone when the plane hit. Some from wounds,some burned,some from the sheer shock of it. I see the hero's that day the police,fire fighters,port authority,emts,clergy and anyone just trying to help because it was something they felt they had to do................I think of the souls on the air planes that day and what they might have felt because no one could ever know those stories. I remember the "hero's"on flight 93 and what they did, the lives they saved in giving theirs. My life is forever changed,life is so precious and should never taken advantage of.I see,really see the people I pass aand look deeply to their eyes now,imprinting those eyes because they are my brothers and sisters, we all are family. I see now where I never saw before. This is only a tiny piece of what I feel,how can all that were changed on that day put into words what they thought and how they felt? Now, I pray for every soul and I feel closer and know I will never forget them or any other soul that ever gave their life so I could be free. My little brother whom was just a year youger than me, was just down the hall. It was his first year in middle school. It was My second class of the day. My teacher was Mrs.- Lowis. Then on the entercom our priciple told everyone that the World Trade Centers had been crashed into. I was not fimiler with the towers but that would change later on in the day. When we heard this my teacher almost whent bizerk. People begain to cry, it was mostly students. When I got to my next class, Coach Hall was trying to reach one of his sisters on his cell phone. I asked him,"Coach whats up"? he told me that his sister was working realy close to the World Trade Centers. He later reached her,and we found out that she was O.K. Every one started to check out of school. I went home that afternoon, and got off the bus. As I entered the house all I could think off was, "YES" no homework. But I saw on the T.V. what could not seem to be real. Men and Wemon dangle from the sides of the towers, some would jump from the sides, and knowing when they once landed they would not survive. My heart was ripped up as I saw those people. Husbands,wives,brothers,sisters,and loverswere separated frome one another. It's hard telling you about it just like it was to watch it. Everyone was watchingthe T.V., I was beaten up inside. Now every time I think about the people who died that day I try to think of there family, and through them I find good memories of those lost at 9/11. P.S. Tell us your story: i had just got indoors from the local DIY centre where i had brought some paint and brushes to decorate the bathroom. i turned on the t.v expecting to find the usual mundane daytime programmes when there was a BBC news special on how there had been and 'incident' in New York. not really taking much notice i turned to ITV, the same thing was on. it was then that the seriousness dawned on me. the 2nd tower had just collapsed and they were showing re-runs of earlier footage of the planes etc. i was shocked and realised what i was seeing would go down in history. for the reat of the day and long into the morning of the next i was watching the news and coming to terms with one of the most devestating events of all time. that was hard to take in, it still is. Our radio station is notorious for their silliness and pranks during the morning shows, so when I heard the news I thought it was fake. When I realized that it wasn't I got to the sitter's house fast. I remember bursting through the door yelling "What the heck is going on?!" By the time I got to work I was scared, upset and confused. That night I just rocked my boy and cried while I watched the news. He was only 9 months old. "What is he going to have to grow up in?" I kept asking myself, or "Is he going to get to grow up at all?" I was scared for him and prayed that this would be the end of what seemed like just the beginning of a nation-wide attack, possibly nuclear. I'm afraid my son, and his peers, will grow up in a war-torn world with the attitude that this is normal. All we can do is pray and hold fast to the dream of peace. I had turned off Good Morning America at about 8:40 to get my husband and three children ready for the funeral. When we arrived at the funeral home we were unaware of the attack. My nephew told me that the Twin Towers had been attacked by two hijacked planes, and I told him that he had a sick sense of humor when another relative confirmed that it was true. Besides being deeply saddened by the loss of such a special woman we now were in shock about this horrible event. We spent the morning in church and had a luncheon after the funeral. So many times you take for granted that you will awake and do the same thing every day and see the same people. I try not to do that any more. When I find myslef doing that I stop and remember all of the people on 9/11/01 and how they must have thought they had plenty of tomorrows to do what they wanted to. Our staff meeting was finishing up and Shiela, at her desk, said, ?Rick called and said that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center?. My first thought was that a small propeller plane was off course, of course, had hit the building. Then, immediately, expecting that it was a joke, or sick rumor, I asked if she if she was serious. Was she certain it was the World Trade Center in New York? ?Yes, New York??she was on the phone now to Rick, ?He says it looks bad ? smoke coming out of the top of the building??. I tried to get online, to one of the news sources online, CNN, WRAL?nothing. New York Times, Hartford Courant, Washington Post, nothing?I couldn?t get any information, the internet was already jammed. I called John?had he heard that the World Trade Center had been hit by an airplane? No, he hadn?t. ?Do you have a TV?? ?Yeah, hold on.? ?What do you see?? A moment and silence, then, ?Wow. There?s a big hole in the building. It looks like a smoke stack.? John sounds like he can?t believe what he?s seeing. I?m anxious now?I want to see too?what happened? I think?a horrific air disaster is my first thought. I call over to Shiela to listen on the speakerphone. ?What do you see, John? Shiela?s here.? He returns with his observation that the building looks like a smokestack. ?I can?t believe it. This is really happening. We were up there.? Vivian, and Quentin, off to a meeting, pay scarce attention. Sheila and I look at each other and know we want more information. ?Thanks, John? I say, prepared to hang up, ?Wow, it looks terrible,? he says, ?I got to go? ?I talk to you soon. I love you.? There?s a TV in the Town Hall Board Room?we try, but it?s not connected to an antenna. Shiela says the Finance Department has a small TV and we head there. There is, (thank goodness?), and we gather to watch the building with the gapping hole and it does, I think, like John said, looks like a huge smokestack. Gathered now around that tiny black and white TV, it?s incredibly quiet, except for a few ?oh my Gods?. About 15 minutes after Shiela first said that something had hit the World Trade Center I see something that looks like a bird, albeit a big bird, fly across the screen from right to left, and then the second tower of the World Trade Center explodes. I look over at Shiela but I don?t know that she?s seen it. We all know that something?s exploded because the news people are screaming. ?Something?s exploded; there?s been another explosion at the World Trade Center!!!? The next few minutes fade into disbelief and astonishment; is this an accident? Is this an accident?! CNN reports one of the planes is an American Airlines flight from Boston. I feel sick. I go back upstairs to call my brothers. My brothers? Peter and Paul both travel weekly from Boston. Paul, especially, travels to New York. I can?t reach them. I tried my cell phone again, and I reach my parents on Connecticut. Dad answers. He and Mom, veterans of the Great Depression and World War 2, are watching on TV; they know what?s happening. I ask my Dad if he knows if Paul and Peter are travelling today. As if in a dream, I hear my Mom crying in the background. My Dad, whom I imagine from the tone of his voice is pale, says, "they think Peter is flying today to Los Angeles from Boston.? Then, he says, "and Paul is traveling to San Francisco." I was actually relieved. I can?t imagine that the flights are destined for California and innocently assumed that the flights have crashed into the World Trade Center were headed to New York. I tell my Dad that I will find out what I can as the thought of Pearl Harbor crosses my mind, and I say ?I love you? like I?ve never say it before, and hang up the phone. I turn to Shiela and say, my Dad says that my brothers are flying out of Boston for Los Angeles and San Francisco but we don?t know for sure. I think I remember saying, ?Those flights from Boston were headed to New York, so it?s probably OK?? I?m not at all sure. Shiela says that the Pentagon is on fire and the White House is being evacuated. We run back downstairs to watch the small television. There?s a report of a fire on the Mall ? and that the State Department has been bombed. I think of George Washington University and the campus I love so much being in flames. I can?t image what Joe and Tony are experiencing but I am immediately grateful that I live in Raleigh. I take a break and go outside to smoke a cigarette. In retrospect, it?s certainly an understatement, but I think, ?What a fucking morning?? I look up at a beautiful blue cloudless sky and imagine that hijacked planes are everywhere looking for targets. I polish off the cigarette and head inside to the join the numbers of people gathered around the tiny TV to hear CNN report that people are trying to figure out what is exactly going on; that ?several incidents have occurred? and that a ?major terrorist attack has occurred?. Within an hour of the first attack, utterly unbelievably, the country comes to a halt. Progressively, like a deck of cards, airports across the country, from Boston to San Francisco close and 4000 passenger planes are ordered to land immediately at the closest air field. CNN reports, ?All airports across the country and all bridges and tunnels into Manhattan are closed.? Now, we watch as the TV reports that the State Department, the Treasury Building and the Capitol are all on fire. June 1, 2004 Almost three years after the day. Since 9/11/01 the country continues to suffer from economic problems, security insecurities, and personal upheavals. It?s fair to say that the world as we knew it no longer exists. Perhaps the most likely explanation is that we, the US, were ill-prepared to deal with the demise of the Soviet Union. In retrospect, the counterbalance the Soviet Union afforded us had an almost calming effect on the state of world affairs. Circumstances being what they are, I could never have imagined that we would be here, today, from the perspective of a young student in Washington, DC in 1987. When, and if, we are ever able to reflect personally and collectively upon 9/11/01 and the Iraq War of 2003 ? 2004, will we be able to find comfort? I didn't have my classroom set on and was at school at the time. At first I was shocked and almost came to tear. My stomach just sunk. Then I thought of my students and how I would tell them. That thought gave me strength to turn and go back into my classroom. Right before lunch, I told them and we discussed it some. While they were at lunch, I turned on the set and got as much information as I could to share with them. I was very straight-forward with the class. That is the type of teacher and person I am. I also thought of my father and how he must have felt when he heard about Pearl Harbor. I was never afraid because I have faith in God and Country. I also needed to be there for my students. As the year has passed I have prayed for all the victims and there families. I have realized how important one's own family is. When I arrived everyone was in tears. I knew something wasn't right. They informed me of what was happening. I wanted to just take my son and go back home, bolt the doors shut and never come out again. I resisted. Instead I left and went to school. While at school the intese condition got much worse. I just had an empty feeling all day. I was missing something. I was missing my son and my husband. I was missing my family. I do not believe it has ever hurt me as much as it did that day to be away from my family. I know everyone had to have felt this way. This was a time when you needed family and friends. I was so excited to go to school it was the day we were suppose to get our lockers. I still remember leaving for school that day at about 7:30 AM and noticing how there were no clouds in the sky it was a pretty day. We went on with the school day then I relized by the time lunch started at 10:15 it seemed that my classes kept getting smaller and smaller till finally it was only me and 1 other kid in the class that was normally 32 kids. At about this time my principal came on the loud speaker and my teacher started to cry. The principal said " I am going to read a letter from the school superentendent to you all" I was like OK whatever they do this a lot. Then she went on to say how sorry the county was about the loss of the children and everything else near the pentagon and NYC. I then started shaking. My Mother works at a elementary school that is not even 4 miles from their I figured she was gone. That was the most terrifying moment I have ever and hope to ever again experence. I ran out of the classroom as fast as I could and ran out of the building and saw mass chaos on the roads around our school being only about a 10 minutes away from the Pentagon and most the people who live around me work either in Washington DC or near the pentagon the area was going crazy. I then realized I had a choice to make run home and go crazy waiting to here the bad news to come or run to my brother's elementary school about 1.5 miles from mine. I decieded to run to the 7-11 about a block down and use the payphone to try and call anyone my Mom, my dad ANYONE. The phone line was overloaded no calls at all. I then ran home and waited at the bus stop for my younger brother. He got off the bus and gave me the biggest hug and we ran home to see or hear anything about our parents. We turned on the TV and it was just devistating to see all that was going on. We saw going across the bottom of the screen that schools were closed for the following day if not longer that the world was in total mass crazyness. My parents made it home very late that night but they made it home many did not. I thank God everyday that they are here still and that he did not take them that horrible day. The following day after 911 we have candle vigils for the victims and it was horrible. I have never felt so unsafe before. It took about a year before I wasn't scared everytime I saw a plane very low or anything else. 5 years later the wounds are still deep the world is now at War trying to make sure this never happens again. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I'll never forget 9/11/01...a year ago today I was sitting in traffic on the 405 freeway on my way to a class. I was listening to my regular radio station and heard what I thought was a really bad practical joke. I immediately called my husband at home in to see if what I was hearing was actually true. The confirmation from my husband was horrifying. He was explaining what was happening with the first plane hitting and then the second. My heart sank as tears streamed down my face thinking about all of the lives lost. Of course, I couldn't fully picture the magnitude of what was happening until I reached class where someone had turned on the television. Complete and utter disbelief and devastation. With family just 2 miles from the Trade Center, friends in New York and a sister that flys frequently for business, terror immediatley consummed me. Trying to reach people in New York was almost impossible. Finally we reached our family in New York and my sister, and found that they were all safe from harms way, giving some relief. My husband remembered that our friend (who normally lives in South Fallsburg, NY) was supposed to be at a retreat in New York City somewhere near the Trade Center. Fear was ever present until we heard from her a few days later and found that she had lost her sister-in-law in one of the towers. There was tremendous relief when we heard from her and then sadness about the loss of her husband's sister. Although we did not know our friend's sister-in-law, we felt a tremendous loss due to all of the wonderful stories that we heard about their holidays together. Weeks went on and tears continued to flow, and still continue flow, as stories are told. Tears that cannot be controlled. The heartbreak that is felt for all of the families that lost friends and loved ones in this horrific tragedy is very much at the surface and will be for many years to come. The only positive thing that came from this tragedy is that the people in the U.S. became more united. People helping other people and showing compassion that would not otherwise be shown has been heartwarming. I was going to school at the Catholic University of America in DC. My fiancee worked down in Virginia, though, not far from the Pentagon. In fact, she had to go there for business a few times prior, so naturally I was worried and scared. I was able to get a call through on my cell phone that day (one of the very few who could), and I was able to track her down. She was alive and unharmed at work. We were both scared, though. It was a surreal scene on campus. Being a commuter student, I didn't have a dorm room to go home to. I wasn't about to brave the traffic, but lucky for us, the University set up several Commuter stations with TV's, beds, free dorm rooms, and even a free dinner. I was hoping to sign up for the many blood drives around campus. What was inspiring to see, though, was that every single bus to the hospital was full and all times throughout the day were taken. Even the backup list was full. It was truly amazing, the outpouring of emotion and helpfulness that abounded. True, we weren't targeted specifically (our campus, that is), but each of us knew someone who was somehow affected. Our campus hails a lot of students from the New York/New Jersey area, not to mention many more from DC, Maryland, and Virginia. We lost a professor on one of the planes. Several students lost family and friends in the Towers. There was a quick mass setup in the Basilica that day for noon. I didn't know where else to go, and though I haven't been a very religious man for a while, I had my roots in the Church and I knew I would be welcome there. We were all a little frightened when we heard the roar of engines from inside the church. We were afraid that the largest church on this shore would be a target, espcially a church in DC. It was all too surreal. I spent the night at a friend's house just off campus. I don't remember how much I cried, if at all that day. It was a very sobering day. Truly too surreal for words. May those who have died be at peace, those who survived find solace, and may we all learn something and benefit from the sacrifice of others.
