Tell us your story: I was getting ready to go to college and turned the t.v. on when I saw that the first tower was hit, It didnt really click in my head as I was in shock as everyone else. I had called all my relatives to turn the t.v. on as I watched in horror as the second tower was hit, I was so scared for all those people. From that day I realized what it really was to be an American. I fly my flag proudly everyday. I will teach my children what it means to be a proud American, this has made our nation stronger and we realize that we are all one in this great nation. Even though I may not have had a loved one perish in this senseless act I feel as if they were all one of my brothers or sisters, I greive everyday because of this tragedy, we all grieve. I thought this was an accident but soon after I heard that a second plane had crashed into the second tower. I was immediately consumed with fear. Within an hour it was clear that America was under attack. I still think of all those people whom I have never met who lost their lives. I still cannot comprehend the depth of hatred that another human being can have to do such evil. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think about this tragedy. I pray for all the victim's family and hope that they will be comforted in their time of deep sadness and pain. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I was at work at Gage-Babcock & Associates. Ironically, we do fire protection and security consulting engineering. I was sitting at my desk and one of our engineers who is also a volunteer fire fighter ran into my office and said the World Trade Center was on fire. I quickly went into e-mail and saw a sight that turned my blood cold. We thought it was an accident, but as we watched, the second plane hit. Moments later we heard about the Pentagon. For the first time in my life, I was afraid. Only one week before on the 3rd of September my former husband retired from the Pentagon. He lost 32 people he worked with every day. My son, Jared Holz, is an advanced life support paramedic for Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in NYC. By a fluke of scheduling he wasn't working on the 11th. As soon as he saw what had happened, he packed a bag and drove to the city. He arrived after both towers had fallen. I remember thinking when I watched in horror as the first tower fell, this is surreal. It looks like it's melting. Little did I know. It was hours before I heard from my daughter-in-law. Jared was at ground zero for 3 days before going home to rest. He said everyone was so frustrated because they expected to be able to save and help people, but there was no one to save. Jared's sister, Rachel Johnson has contributed some of Jared's photographs to the Image Repository on this site. Those of us who hadn't been there could not really understand the scale of this disaster until I saw Jared's photographs. All the photographs that were published on the Internet during the days that followed 911 of the floral tributes outside our embassies around the world brought tears to our eyes. The outpouring of sympathy from around the world helped us to realize we are not alone. The strength of the people of NY and the DC area was uplifting to everyone. God bless America has new meaning for all of us. This site will be a new treasure for Americans worldwide. It should be maintained forever. We will never forget. We should never forget. We were having our last class and were having a nice group talk in our religion class. The bell rang, so we all ran outside like screaming kiddies because another day of school had just ended. While waiting for our bus we heard people talking about a plane crashing in New York city, I was like, "Ah so what, that happens quite often, nothing big" But after comming home I realized how mistaken I really was. I turned on CNN because this is a great channel to follow when somethings up in the US (even though the news was on every channel) and to my surprise I saw it was about the plane crash. I saw the World Trade Towers, and I wondered what they were doing, and why in gods name they were on fire. It took me a few minutes for the shock to actually pass over me, but I realized that the plane had crashed into the WTC towers. I really felt like it was a dream, and I got all sick inside. It's funny that! I've never been to America, nor do I rarely think about it (only when I talk to internet freinds in a chat room). But I felt very sick inside, and even felt the urge to cry. Then I heard the reporter say that it was some kind of Attack (like the headline was, America under Attack) I nearly wet my pants. The most inpenetrable country, a country that has seen no real wars, a powerful and economically strong country is under attack? It just makes you realize how easily things can happen and how precious life is. While huddles infront of my TV with the rest of the family we saw footage of a second plane hitting the towers, my jaw just dropped I just could not believe what I was seeing! Was this another one of those Science fiction films played in New York? No! ... Then there was footage of the first tower collapsing, this was just toally heart wrenching, seeing people running, and screaming, dust flying everywhere. They were just playing the fottage of the plane hitting the towers over and over and over again... it was sickening to know that this was a terrorist attack against America, against the most powerful city in the world, against the American culture.... Then there was news of a third plane hitting the Pentagon, this was also very scarey, but I found the WTC towers just horrific, I was happy that the whole Pentagon building wasnt hit. And then a Fourth plane that went down in Pensylvania (which we heard later was headed for the white house and was actually brought down by the passengers wanting to do something against these terrorists). It just made me mad that people can do this. But then when the shock was over, you kind of ask yourself.. "Did America ask for this?" I can kind of say that the answer is "yes", how much it hurts to hear this, it is true. In the news all you hear is America bombing this country, America going to war against another country... I know America wants the world to be peacefull or something like that, and trying to be a "dad" for the reast of the world, but in the end it cost them 3000+ lives and scars in every American Heart. I truely want terrorism to end. Wars in Iraq, wars in Israel... I just want it all to stop, because it's all useless... what did Al Queda gain for these attacks? Revenge? Oh! Is that all??? What's the point?? None, there is no point. September 11 will be a day I will never forget, even though I've never set foot on America soil, I feel for the America people. I felt the horror that every single American felt. I asked the same question. WHY? And quite frankly I'm still waiting for the answer. I feel that this is not the end for America, that they will have to watch their backs, because terrorist groups will not give up. Now that the US has bombed Afghanistan, terrorists will want revenge and they have a plan, you can be sure on that. And I do not want to see what it is, I pray to God that this is the end of the attacks. But I fear it won't be. The past year and the years to come will go down in history as the most horrifying years in modern history. God be with us all. As I walked through the lobby of my dorm, I saw on t.v. what was going on, but the intensity of what had happened didn't really occur to me. I walked straight through the lobby with out stopping. After the ceramony my friends and I walked back through the lobby, but this time, seeing that the same picture was still on the television, we all stopped to catch the story. At first I was in awe of what I saw. We were all a little angry, but the reality i guess just hadn't set in yet. As the day progressed, it became apparent as to what had happened. I was in awe for the next couple of days, because I couldn't really believe that something like this could have happened. Of coarse it was a small town and news spread around fast. The rest of the priod our teacher told us what might happened because of the attack. On the day of September 11, 2001 I slept through my alarm clock and woke up around 9:15am. I had a 10am class that day and being a commuter there was only time for a 10 second shower, a quick bite to eat, no phone call to mom, no contact with retired step dad, and out the door I went. During my freshman year in the Fall 01? semester I was really good about getting to class on time but something in my mind must have triggered myself to stay in bed a little longer. Due to my lateness I started the car pop in my 2001 graduation mix in my CD player and jammed on the way to school. While fighting for a spot in the A parking lot and winning, I quickly popped out the CD and put it away and heard on the radio, ?A third plane just crashed into the Pentagon?. In my rushed state I just laughed thinking that it was a joke that HOT 99.5 was making and hauled ass to class. I did not think anything of the radio announcement because I honestly wanted to make it to class on time. When I entered the Johnson Center, the center of our campus, I was distracted by the amount of silence in the building. The Johnson Center is an area of socialization; most of the time people can?t hear what other people are saying, but this day was not the same; it was quite in the building. I took the elevator up to the 3rd floor, and ran into class to find that there were only 6 other people sitting at the table. I saw Prof. Williams crying and staring at the TV. My heart sunk when I saw the tears come from her eyes, because I had no idea what was happening. Questions like, ?why was she crying? What is happening?? were racing through my head. I then got a glimpse of the news broadcast on the TV. There it was a replay of what had just happened but an hour earlier, the second plane crashing into the Twin Towers. After that replay the news showed what had happened only 15 minutes before class began, the Pentagon being hit by another plane. I sat down and just continued to watch what was going on. Students in class were in as much shock as I, no one said a word. I felt like I completely dismissed God?s message to me when I ignored the radio announcement earlier. I felt like he was trying to tell me ahead of time, but I wasn?t listening, I was just thinking of getting to class. I felt awful for putting something so important aside and putting myself first. Later I heard that at about 10:15am a fourth plane crashed somewhere in PA. Where are these planes coming from? I could feel my heart pumping as if I was going to do something to stop this. Fear was building up; I was scared that there would be planes attacking all over the states. I was wondering where would the fifth plane go? Shortly after the news about the Pentagon it really hit me, these attacks were too close to home, too close to where my mom works. I jumped up from my chair with my cell phone and began calling my mothers office. No answer. Again I punished myself, for waking up late and not thinking to call her before I left. That was our regular routine, I call her before I leave to tell her the plans for the day, whether I will be home for dinner or not and so forth. This didn?t happen, the routine was broken along with our Nation?s innocence. I felt so much weight on my shoulders, what if my mom had a meeting in the Pentagon today? Why was she not answering her phone? Did they evacuate her office building? I had no strength to walk back into class, I was afraid to see what else could have happened. Luckily nothing else did, but what was done was enough to make anyone go mad. Millions of people were killed; no one knew that the day would start like this. I did not know that morning when I woke up late the first plane crashed into the first tower in New York City. I felt out of place, it was the unknown that scared me; it was unexpected, no warning, a sneak attack. Then I made my second attempt to call my mother. No answer. I called the house and no answer. I was like ?Oh my God, is everyone gone and Mason is the only place still standing?? I remembered my parents always saying ?stay where you are and we will find you?. This was the way my sister and I were supposed to do things in case of emergencies. I hated this, but I stayed where I was. I continued dialing her number and my house, and it soon became a pool of busy signals. I decided to grab my things and leave class, I did not want to watch or hear anymore of this until I knew my family was ok. I was not too concerned about my father, he was in Paraguay, South America at the time and I just assumed since I didn?t hear anything about other countries being under attack I felt he was ok. However I was concerned about my step mom who was pregnant and worked in Arlington. No answer there either. I decided to call my boyfriend?s mother Sherry, just to talk to someone, she was like a second mother to me, and I felt I would feel safe if I spoke with her. She answered and immediately told me that my mother was ok and that the TV broadcasters just announced that the Government was let out and she was on her way home. I was relieved, my mother was ok; she is the most important thing in my life and for me to hear those words that she was on her way home made my heart begin to calm down. I was able to think a bit clearer. Sherry told me my mother knew I would be calling her, when my mother couldn?t get a hold of me she called Sherry. I believe I must have worried about every single member in my family before I stopped to think that people I didn?t know were dying and other people were searching for their loved ones too. I do not remember how my sister got home, or if I even spoke with her that day, but my immediate family was safe and sound later that afternoon. I do not remember how I drove home, but I remember people on the radio speaking of how this was a sneak attack by some terrorist group, called Al Qaeda. I felt so unsafe in my own country. I felt that terrorism just didn?t happen in our country, but yet it did. It became even more real when I got home and watched more TV. It became clear and real when I saw a replay of people jumping out of windows at the Twin Towers so they wouldn?t burn to death. It became real when the President spoke to the Nation and said, ?Make no mistake, the United States will hunt down and punish those responsible for these cowardly acts?. This was real; I no longer lived in this ideological world of good and no evil. I saw it with my own eyes that this can happen in my lifetime, which it did happen. I always had this naive idea that nothing could happen to me or my country that I was always safe, that these certain historical things only happened in the past. I was living the tragic part of history that I never thought I would experience. For the next week or so all people could do was watch TV, to see if anything new would develop. I couldn?t, I didn?t want to see anymore. I was scared, were these people going to come back and attack again. My boyfriend Chris, at the time, would just sit in front of the TV watching all of the replays over and over again. Wasn?t it enough to see it the first 5 times? I think that Chris too was in shock and didn?t want to believe it so he had to watch it all over again. Like most people in our Nation we knew this was tragic and many people dealt with it in different ways, I for one wanted nothing to do with it except pray for those who died and those who lost loved ones. I was grateful that I had my family and that people I knew were safe and sound. And then on Sept. 12, it was like reliving it all. I was a high school freshman thinking that my worst fear was Algebra I honors, but I am scared to say that I was wrong. I was in Algebra I when the bell rang and I walked into the hall. Unlike every other day in high school history the halls were almost silent. Everyone was walking slow and as quietly as possible and almost silently whispering to there neighbor all the information they knew. When my principal came over the intercom to inform us of the events I was shocked. I immediatly asked to go to the restroom. If cell phones really cause brain tumors I should have about 8 of them. The bathroom should have had its own tower. Everyone was calling and checking on there family. Not having a family and living my best friends, I called them. They are in college and most of the were at work. I called my best friend who told me that his older brother worked in the second tower. By this time it was almost 10:30 central time. The events had been played on teevision many times. I was begining to get a clear picture. My school went into lockdown. I live in the same city as Barksdale Air Force Base. The place President Bush went to to make his speech. I saw Air Force One and I cried for the man who it was up to save our country. I watch TV all day. I woke up to my best friend Steven getting in bed with me and telling me that his brother Seth had been killed. For many people they could not believe that the towers were gone. I couldn't and still can't believe that I live in Louisiana and was so affected by those events. The nation was really hurt, and so was I. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I remember driving up 287N on the morning of Septemeber 11th at about 7:15 am. I was going into work early because I had to interview someone at 9:00 am and I wanted to review their resume prior to the interview. I had the radio on and my sun roof open. I remember looking through the sun roof at the blue sky and thinking what a beautiful day... My morning was like any other. Filled with emails and early morning calls, coffee and wishful thoughts of a vacation... At about 8:45, I recieved a call from Annette in our HR wanting to talk to me about an issue that I cannot recall now. Five minutes into the call, I received a call on my cell phone. As usual, it was my mother. I remember thinking what does she want now? After my usual greeting, she told me that a plane had hit the WTC. I smirked and said "What is a plane doing flying over Manhattan?" I immediately thought that it was some type of commuter plane that had accidently flown into the building. Nothing serious. I asked if she was okay and then told her that I would call her back later. I resumed my conversation with Annette, telling her what my mother had told me. She replied in the same way I did. "What is a plane doing flying over Manhattan?" I could tell that she either thought I was making it up or that my mother was mistaken. We concluded our conversation and I began making my way to our lobby in oder to begin my interview. As I passed our Area President's office, I noticed that they were turning on his Television system. It occurred to me that they had also heard of the plane hitting the WTC. I continued on without thought. After greeting and inviting in the interviewee, I began telling him about the "accident". Again as we passed the President's office, I looked in to see if I could catch a glimpse of what was going on. At that point they were showing the WTC and you could see smoke coming from the building. I thought 'Wow! That's a lot of smoke!' I motion to the employee to wait, that I wanted to watch some of this. At this point people are steadily coming into the President's conference room to watch themselves. No one in the room had any idea of what was really happening. WE witnessed the second plane hitting the second building. We thought it was a replay of the first hit. Someone remarked how they had actually been able to capture it on film. But we could all see the "live" in the top left corner of the TV Screen and we all began to realize that this was a second plane. I thought we were under attack. It was like every thing began to happen at once. People began rushing from the room, looking for phones to call loved ones. People began to panic, people began to cry. I reached for my own phone to call my mother, my sister, my son's school. At the same time I was trying to remember who worked in the city, at the WTC. Was there someone that I need to get to? I was rooted to the floor I couldn't move. I was staring at the TV, thinking 'This is not happening. This is a bad movie plot'. I couldn't get a call out. Every line was busy. Too many trying to make calls. Moments later, the news began communicating about the Pentatgon and the flight in Pennsylvania. Everyone was terrified. We didn't know how many more planes were going to be involved. This was a nigtmare. I will never forget the closing of the borders & thinking how lucky we were to having gotten over prior to people being stranded for days & weeks. I was at work when the first bomb hit. Everybody starting gathering around a small tv that someone had to watch the events unfold. We also listened to the radio, via a small radio and on the internet, too. We were so stunned that is was very difficult to get through the day let alone work. As soon as I got home I talked with my kids & called all of my family to check up and make sure everyone was okay. I still can't believe what happened but I knew the minute I saw the first pictures of the plane hitting the World Trade Center that we were under a terrorist attack. I knew it was not an accident. I was just horrified at the loss of life and the affect it has had on our already struggling economy. As a direct result of it both my husband & I lost our jobs. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I work one day a week...Tuesdays. So I happened to be at work that day. I heard on our local news radio station, WGN, that the first plane had hit, but really didn't think too much of it because I figured it was an accident. I was talking to a fellow co-worker when another co-worker came up to us and said that another plane had hit the other tower. At that point we went into the lunch room to watch the TV. We and several other workers must have watched all the events unfold for another 2 hours. We all sat there in silance. I wanted to cry, but you know, you're at work. The company I worked for is a medical distribution company, so pretty soon all our hospital customers, especially in Chicago, started calling for extra supplies because no one knew what was going to be happening. I couldn't wait to get home that day. And once I did, I proceeded to spend the next 4 days glued to the TV. I'd fall into bed exhausted every night, I didn't want to stop watching in case something else happened. I just couldn't believe this was happening to us!!!! We're the U.S. Stuff like that doesn't happen here. Finally on Saturday I had to quit watching for a while. Luckily TV Land was having a Brady Bunch marathon that weekend. Nothing bad ever happens to the Brady's, so I got to take my mind off of it for a little while. After September 11th, some friends of my cousin decided to make Angels for the families of the victims. Several schools and volunteers in the area eventually ended up making close to 15000 of these Angels. Though they were intended to go to the families, they ended up on a tree at Ground Zero. Mayor Guliani then invited these ladies out to view the tree. I got to go along and was allowed to see Ground Zero up close. It was a very emotional day! Firemen, Port Authority Officers, and workers from all over the site came to the tree to meet us. I can't even describe the feeling of the place. We met such wonderful people and they were so thankful for these little angels and there were hugs all around when we left, but it was hard to believe you were standing at this spot you saw on TV for months, this place where such evil happened! It's something I know I'll never forget. And though it's hard to say you're GLAD you were there, I was happy I had the priviledge of going and paying my respects, in a way...I'd like to go back someday. Maybe when they've built what they're going to build on the site I'll go back. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: My 3 year old daughter, Breanna, and I had just gone into the kitchen to have breakfast. I set her plate down and turned the t.v. on channel 11 (Fox News) when I saw the picture of the burning Trade Center. When I realized what had happened, I couldn't believe it. I immediately called my mother and father and told them to turn on the t.v. because "these fools had driven a plane into the World Trade Center in New York". I'll never forget that they thought I had lost my mind. They couldn't even grasp what I was telling them. I felt so completely sad. My daughter was being her usual happy 3 year old self, but I cried and tried to make things as normal for her as possible. I felt that this monstrous evil had made itself known in the world and no one would ever have a feeling of being totally safe again. I felt that they were all monsters. As the story unfolded and the Twin Towers collapsed, I felt sadness for the people who died and their families. Even living in L.A., the sadness was overwhelming. I felt like I was there. The country, not just N.Y. and Washington was in shock and mourning. I called in and told my job I wouldn't be in and then I drove myself and my daughter over to my parents' house. I felt strength and comfort in being there and sharing this with them. I realized this morning (9/11/02) that this will be one of those days in my life that I will never forget. I will always remember where I was and what I was doing. It's weird because I thought my generation (I'm 33) wouldn't ever have one of those days. Ever. But as the saying goes, "we will never forget". I can't believe it's been a year. I feel as if it were yesterday. God bless us all. Tell us your story: Even though it has been eight months and some-odd days since September 11th when the World Trade Centers, the Pentagon, and Flight 93 got more than their share of 15 minutes of fame, the minutest details of that fateful day still remain vivid in my memory. A teacher running into the classroom like a scene from a movie abruptly interrupted Global Studies. His face was ashen and all that he could manage to utter was a command to turn on the TV. He spoke these words with a tone of fear that was clearly perceptible by the eccentric contortions of his pallid face and representing that of an apparition. Mrs. Capen, my Global Studies teacher, immediately grabbed the remote control and turned on the television like well-learned reflex. Usually patient and placid, Mrs. Capen could not stay calm and she looked as upset and as confused as I felt. What I saw was horrific. So many people distraught, troubled, and baffled as to what they were supposed to do next, where to go, what was going on. My eyes were astonished as to what they saw unfolding and numerous uncontrollable emotions were welling up inside of me. My emotions were like a bag of M&M's, I ate through them very quickly and every time I reached into my bag of emotions, I pulled a different color for each of my emotions. I felt sadness (blue), anger (red), bewilderment (purple), flabbergasted (yellow), and hatred (orange). The only emotion that I didn't feel was envy because I was certainly not envious of people who could commit such a destructive act of terror, so when I'd had enough M&M's, all that I had left was a few green M&M's at the bottom of the bag. How could this happen? Why did we let this happen? Who could do this? Questions that couldn't be answered ran through my mind the rest of that grim and excruciatingly painful day. The rest of that day was like bad dream to me. It was like I was in the ocean and every time I got close to the shore and close to a partial understanding of what had happened, an enormous wave pushed me back and I was just as puzzled as I had been when Mrs. Capen turned on the TV in second period. As the day progressed I found it increasingly hard to reach the end of the school day so that I could go home and be with my family. As you might expect we didn't have a normal day at school. Thanks to the high-quality technology at my school, there is a television in every classroom. Instead of doing work, we watched the news in every single class, which was fine with me because I am the type of kid who could watch the news all day, everyday. As the news coverage continued, the news became increasingly worse and increasingly disheartening. By the end of the day (it finally came), the World Trade Centers were nothing more than heaps of rubble, the Pentagon had been transformed into part building and part wreckage, and an airplane with a number of 93 was now nothing more than a heap of debris lying on the ground in Pennsylvania, and all of these ruins were reminders of the terrible terrorist attacks that had made history earlier that day. The photographs and live shots of these troubling scenes will forever hold a place in my mind. The most heartbreaking portion of that whole gloomy and dismal day was the count of those who had lost their lives on that tragic day. At the end of the day the total count of the deceased was nowhere near being reached but its numbers were already climbing well into the thousands and was not ceasing to grow. Every single person that I passed in school had their heads hung down in despair and everyone that I passed in the quiet, desolate hallways was grief-stricken and inconsolable. September 11th was undoubtedly one of the most tragic and depressing days of my life. When I got home no one else was at home except for my dog, Doc, who was comfort enough for me at that moment. Despite the fact that I was home alone, it was nice to know that I had a house to be alone in. That night I didn't even get to see my parents because my mom had to work and my dad had to school (he goes to NCCC), so I had to baby-sit my brother and sister. I didn't really know how to deal with my siblings about the horrendous events of the day, so I asked them if they knew what had occurred that day. My brother said, "Yeah, I know what happened. A bunch a dumb people made a lot of kids lose their moms and dads. I'm glad that they didn't come here." Hearing that from my eight-year-old brother made me realize how lucky I am to be blessed with all of the things I have and how much I take them for granted. I have a magnificent family who until September eleventh I don't think I ever truly appreciated, a roof over my head, clothes on my back, food to eat, a superb education, and the list of things I should be grateful for is endless. That night when my mom got home from work, there was an awkward silence and my mom just held out her arms and I gave her a hug and cried on her shoulder. My mom and I don't have a great relationship with one another but that moment brought us closer than ever. I looked up at my mom and she was in tears as well. She told me that I would never know how much she loved me and that she thanked God for me every day. I told her that even though she didn't know it, I loved her more than words could ever express. I gave her a kiss goodnight and went to bed. At the moment I thanked God that I was alive and that I was surrounded by the people who, even though I didn't always show it, I loved more than life itself. It is inevitable that September 11th touched many people's lives and left a considerable impact on all of those touched that was unforgettable. Perhaps I wasn't in Manhattan; Washington, D.C.; or in Pennsylvania on that catastrophic day but I know that along with everyone else in the country, I was certainly feeling the negative effects of the dreadful calamity. I felt as if I had been transported back to my youth because I felt extremely vulnerable and baffled, as I had often experienced in my adolescence. You may be questioning the fact that I am only 14 but I feel that this unbearable incident in our history has required many teenagers to feel as if their age has quickly matured many years. It is my observance that this terrible occurrence has caused many young people to feel more adult and often times they are obligated to act older than they really are. This day, which has forever left its mark on history and on me and can never be washed away. This day can never be forgotten in my mind and someday I will have to retell this painful day to my grandchildren and although this day has done more harm than good, it has everlastingly left me grateful for those things that I am able to call my own. For many Americans the world had stoped turning this day, or this is how I remembered it. It was a normal morning as I began to get ready. I was to play in the Hardin-Simmons University Concert Band for our presidential inauguration. As I was heading out the dormitory to arrive early for a practice I found it strange that there were a swarm of girls in our lobby watching the news. Everything was dead silent. As I stopped to watch I remember seeing one building engulfed with flames. Hearing that a plane had crashed into it I thought it at first to be an accident. As soon as the thought registered into my mine a second plane hit the second tower. I managed to stay to see one of the towers collapse. This is when I realized that this was definitely not an accident. I arrived at the University Chapel to hear lots of people talking about what was going on and what the plane crashes meant. As the first speaker came to present a speech it was explained that something dreadful had happened. We had all taken a moment of silence and then we were lead in prayer for the tragedies that had occurred. No one was really sure that day of what was going on. Many of us knew to little to understand. But for the past six and a half months there has been a closeness with the citizens of America; A closeness with our president as well. We understand what it means to be here. We now understand why we are The "United" States of America. Tell us your story: September 9, 2001 I flew home from San Diego California with my new Marine Fiance who had just graduated from Marine Corps boot camp. What a joyful time, with a new Marine on my arm and a beautiful ring on my finger, I went back to college for the week to show off. Tuesday morning,September 11, I went to my Geology lab at 8:00 in the morning which, strangely enough, let out early that day. As I walked down the hallway of my dormitory, I noted that everyone had their doors open and it sounded like news being reported from every room. I walked into my room, picked up the phone and called my fiance, to see if he had left to come visit me yet. This is the moment I will never forget...his mother answered the phone, obvously upset, and I asked her what was wrong. "Stacey," she said, "you need to turn on your TV, something has happened..." I quickly turned on my TV and fell to the floor as I watched the second plane hit the World Trade Center in front of my eyes. "Where is he?" I asked her immediately concerned about the saftey of my Military Man. She told me he was safe, and that he already talked to his command to find out what he should do. I was still scared to death. He did end up coming to my school that day, and I will never forget running down the hallway to meet him, and hugging him so tight with that fear of not knowing what was going to happen him. That day changed our world, our lives and effected everyone in some way. It touched my life so deeply, and I will never forget the events of that September morning. Tell us your story: i was in the process of getting my children ready and off to school. i saw what was happening on good morning America and my heart sank with such grief that i felt sick. i prayed for the families for what they were going through and what they were to face in the days and months, even tears to come. i knew what i was feling yet i also knew i couln never fully know the pain and suffering that the victims families and friends were dealing with. i soon found myself praying for strangers, praying that their loved ones would be found. i had forgotten and neglected to love my neighbors and treat others as i would want others to treat me. i found my rainbow after this storm and i have been renewed with a sense of love for all and a compassion for people more than i thought possible. i also held on more tightly than ever to my family because i now know and truly realize how preciouse and little our toime together really is. i will never forget the pain and the suffering and i will hold dear in my heart heroism and courage of that dreadfull day. i will not forget all who were lost. though it is impoosible to know all the detail, faces names ect, but all i have to do is look at my family to know. they were all someones mother, son , daughter, father, husband, wife, friend ect. they all had dreams, hopes,love. some may have been artistic, funny, serious, intelligent, quiet, loud ,outgoing, shy and everytyhing inbetween and more.
