Tell us your story: As with all other significant dates in american history,September 11th,2001 will be added to the list of dates in which people ask,"where were you when?".I was on duty at Fire Station 13 that morning. The daily routine was in full swing. We prepared and ate breakfast, and were starting our annual "spring cleaning". Everyone was working on a particular project, when everyone started yelling to get in the livingroom. On CNN we were witnessing live 1 WTC burn after an explosion of some type. As with late breaking news, reliable information is usually hard to come by. Seconds after walking into the room, a large commercial aircraft appeared on the right of the screen and impacted the 2 WTC. Everyone was stunned. At first we all thought it was video footage from the plane hitting the first tower, when in fact it was the second plane of the attack. A short while later we witnessed the collapse of both towers. After 2 WTC collapsed we all knew that we had lost brother firefighters in the collapse,both from those still inside the towers attempting rescue and fire suppression, as well as all those in staging areas on the ground. One of my crewmates, who happens to play the bagpipes in the honor guard,had his pipes there at the station, and went out into the apparatus room and played Amazing Grace for our fallen brothers. The rest of the shift was a blur of daily routine and phone calls from our families. I have a daughter who was four at the time. When I called my ex-wife to talk to my daughter,Danica, she wanted to know if I was safe now. I told her that I was,but she didn't understand where NYC is in relation to Ft.Wayne,Indiana. That evening the news reports kept flashing 1-800 numbers for family assistance and for volunteers to call in to provide assistance. I copied dwon all of them, and the next morning when I was relieved of duty, I went home to start calling the numbers. I felt that I had to do something. I was new to the fire service in 1995, and was at the fire station the day of the Oklahoma City bombing. I had such a feeling of helplessness that day. I was supposed to have to knowledge and expertise to handle that sort of thing, but I didn't and it hurt. On September 11, I knew that it was my turn. Suprisingly, my younger brother who has no aspirations of emergency service, told me he was going to go with me and volunteer with the Red Cross doing whatever they'd let him do. My family nd my girlfriend at first didn't understand why we were going. The entire country was still reeling and holding its breath hoping that the worst was over, yet fearing that it wasn't. Reports were coming in of search and rescue parties becoming lost or trapped in the rubble, of bodies and body parts in the streets, and of intensly burning fires that were out of control and unreachable. While the entire country came together to do whatever it could, we believed this was what we could contribute. On the 13th of September,my 26th birthday, we left for NYC. Twelve hours later we arrived and made our way to the Jakob Javitz convention center. My brother found a Red Cross station set up there and we said our goodbyes to each other. I had spoken to an FDNY battalion chief and he told me where to report for a ride to the disaster site. As for the work those days, I don't believe that I'll ever really recover from what I saw,heard,smelled and felt. But as with all other great tragedies of this magnitude and previous generations and thier hurdles, I can try to push it to the back of my mind. Most days are pretty good. Others are really tough to deal with. I don't think my family really understands how this still affects me. And on those hard days I get mad at myself for feeling this way,because I didn't lose a family member or brother firefighter that I worked beside everyday. I know that losing that would be so much harder than what I am going through and then I'm furious that I am this weak. My brother and I worked for three days on adrenaline and pure emotion.On the fourth day,so many volunteers were pouring into the city,we knew we were needed no longer. A guy that my brother had been working with,named Glenn, told us that we were in no condition to drive home. He and his girlfriend, Julie, and her room mate, Holly, NYC natives let us shower,eat and sleep at thier small NYC apartment. Ironically,the apartment house sits two blocks north of FDNY Rescue 1's quarters. On our way there,we passed Rescue 1's quarters and the entire front sidewalk was covered with pictures,flowers and candles as well as people standing vigil outside. After a good hot shower,good food and a lot of support from our new-found friends, we headed for home. A few days later, I returned to work at the firehouse,and all of my co-workers that had supported me from home in doing what we did, were distant and cold towards me. They were all talking about how bad it must be to have to work there and what it must smell like there.Yet, no one asked what my firsthand knowledge of it was. The silent treatment continued for a few days,when I finally put in for a transfer to a different shift and station assignment. Eight months later, I lost my job as a firefighter. Several charges were brought against me by the chief of the department, including disobeying a direct order not to travel to NYC to assist in rescue efforts. He claims that I also violated a federal order from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, not to travel to NYC. Despite proving in a hearing that both orders were dispatched the day my brother and I were returning home from NYC, I lost my position as a proffesional firefighter. All in all, I will recover from this in every aspect of the situation, personally and professionally as the rest of the country has recovered and found itself. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: September 11th I had to bring my sister-in-law to a doctor's appointment by 9am. I woke up late. I gave my husband and baby daughter a kiss goodbye and headed out the door. It wasn't until I was in my car that I heard the news on the radio: an airplane had hit the world trade center. I was astonished and confused. A plane? how could that happen? On the way to my brother's house, I had heard the second tower had been hit. My next reaction was fear. Both my brother and sister work in Manhatten. My brother worked in part of the world trade complex. Once I reached his house I was told his shift had just been switched to overnights and he was ok, just stuck in the city. I then called my mother to make sure my sister had been heard from as well. It was a scary moment, and something I will remember always... much in the same way my parents remember Pres. Kennedy being shot. I grew up fairly close to Manhatten, first in the bronx and then not 2 hours out of the city. I have made many trips to my favorite island and could never imagine the skyline without the towers. I spent the better part of today, the one year anniversary, crying for all those who have died and the families who suffer from the loss. It makes me hug and kiss my family a little harder today, as I feel blessed to have them. Tell us your story: It was a regular work day when I co-worker came in and said that she heard on her way to work that a plane had just hit the Twin Towers. She then came back by to say that another plane had hit the other tower. With this bit of news, I went into the patient activity room where the television was on. I stood there in disbelief and awe of the destruction that occurred and hoped that no one that I knew was on these planes which had left from Logan Airport. The rest of the day was filled with trips to the television room to hear the latest updates,which included the strike on the Pentagon and the heroes of the flight which crashed in Pennsylvania. To this day I still cannot believe the destruction that this caused and the way everyone's life was changed on that fateful day. I made a trip to New York in June after they had completed the recovery efforts, and was amazed at how much destruction had occurred. The memorial around the site is so amazing that words cannot express it. Today my heart still feels sorrow for all those who were intimately effected by this horrific tragedy. I now have a true appreciation of what it is to be an American and how much we need to treasure each freedom that we possess. God Bless America!!! We were lying in my bed watching Good Morning America, we actually watched the second plane hit the tower. My son's first words after this happened were "does this mean that Daddy will have to go". You see, my husband is in the National Guard, and Cody knew that something bad had happened and that Daddy might have to go to protect us. I immediatley called my husband who was at work to tell him what had happened, and to also let our son talk to his dad. We kept in constant contact throughout the whole day. We have had to go through alot this past year, wondering when my husband would get called up to active duty and preparing our son for this. Fortunately, he has not had to go yet, other then to the local airport. We are still very aware that the longer this goes on, the better chance he will have of getting deployed. It will be a hardship on us, but we all realize (even our son) that this Country is what we believe in and we will do whatever it takes to help protect her. The morning of the attacks, I had just gotten a coffee with my partner Gregory at the Starbuck's Coffee shop on the upper east side. We crossed 3rd avenue and I boarded a bus go further uptown. He patted me on the back and said good-bye. I got to work at about 9AM. I remember trying to use my cell phone a bit after 9AM and all I could get was "all circuits are busy now, could you place you call later." Frustrated, I went out into the outdoor courtyard of my office and the building maintanance man said one of the World Trade Towers was hit by a plane. I went back to the office and turned on my radio. I began hearing sirens. I cried as I listened to the radio. I got a call from Gregory who told me what was happening on TV. I heard on the radio that the second tower was struck.' I decided to stay far uptown for an hour and then closed the office and began the walk back from 91st street to my house in the 60's. I could see billows of smoke far downtown as I walked south on Lexington ave. My cell phone still would not work. People were in shock. Busses were filled to the brim with people. The further south I walked, I finally saw people walking north that had come from the World Trade Center Site. Bits and pieces of the story slowly unfolded. When I got home, I was so happy to see Gregory. We have several friends who lived near the trade center. We housed them and Ruben (a pug dog) who lived with Julie, one of our women friends. To my shock, I first saw the sight of the buidings on TV for the first time. I cried more. Life will never be the same. I am more patriotic, more cautious and I feel more connection with other people since then. Now at the 1st anniversary of this horrible day, I remember the strength of Americans coming together to help at that dire time of need in our history and in my life. Tell us your story: I had left home to bring my daughter to school that morning and on the way could not understand why I could not get the music on the radio. And in my worst nightmare could not comprehend the horor that was about to unfold. I brought my daughter to school not knowing if I should leave her there, but under the well kept care of her teacher I went home to tell my husband, who was sick that day, to turn on the television in horor of the events that were unfolding. We both sat there in disbelief of the horrific sights that we were experiencing that warm September morning. It was as so many have discribed a sureal event that I was not sure how would effect my life at the time. As all Americans can attest, until it hits home it is not something that you can truly feel. Michael Canty, his family were friends from church and I can remember him running around church causing a lot of commotion on Sunday. James Patrick, was a brother of a classmate all through elementary to high school. Although I did not know him directly I knew his brother and family and every one knew "The Patrick's", one block down and over, on Parkwood Boulevard. The last person that I knew was a bit more personable, I worked with him for almost 3 years and he dated my sister. That was Arial Jacobs, he was a man that I did not really see too much in, although my sister did. He was someone that I really did not think would be some one to look up to and little did I know that he went and became the Executive Vice President of a company in the WORLD TRADE CENTER!!! Who would have know that little Ari Jacobs would be such an influential person for people to follow as an example. All of these men leave family and love ones behind and I pray for them and hope that through the years that they will come to know how much their loved ones touched others and that they will not be forgotten!!! I have never contacted their families or told then how sorry I am for their loss but through Gods eyes I am sure that they know how special their sons,husbands and brothers were. And today, September 11th 2002, I went and got the paper after I had the greatest privalige of seeing my grand parents this cool and somber Septmeber morning. What a somber "morning" it is, I look at the "Times Union", Albany, NY's paper, and the special insert that they have on the "victim's" of Sepember 11th. I can recall where I was and what I did and felt that terrible day 1 year ago. This is a day that we should never forget and after all of the talk, that time will tell what history will account of this day in September, I know that no matter what, I will always tell my daughter what happened and hope that she will pass this mournful day of rememberance on to her children too. I was at the firehouse that morning, I was the ECC (engine co. chauffeur) for Eng.166 on Staten Island. We were doing commitee work when we heard on the radio that a plane hit the WTC. We dropped what we were doing and went into the kitchen to watch the news. We were talking on how to attack the fire and what gear we would need if we were called when all of a sudden you saw the second plane hit. We scrambled out of the kitchen and started to re-check all our tools and gear and putting extra tools on the rig. We were in the middle of doing this when we were turned out for the staging area at the S.I. Ferry. We were barely out of qtrs. when we were re-directed to form up on the Brooklyn side of the Battery Tunnel. We just about got to the Verrazano Bridge when traffic stopped. They had to clear the traffic off the highway so we could get to the bridge. While they were doing this, all the off duty guys that were trying to get to their firehouses in Bklyn, Man, or Qns started to ditch their cars on the shoulder and were jumping up in the hosebeds of our rigs, there were about 8 - 9 other fire companies with us. They finally cleared a lane and we screamed over the bridge. I remember looking to my left and seeing the two towers, heavy black smoke pushing from both of them, and my Lt. just saying to me that this was going to be the worst day this job has ever seen. I told him we'll get the fires out (the FDNY, not just us) but yeah, that it was going to be a real shit day. We got to the tunnel and it was like driving into a blizzard. When we pulled up, a Chief informed us that the first tower had collapsed. We were looking up to see if we could see anything but it was just ash, soot, sheets of paper falling from the sky. So thick, that if you held your hand out it would fill up in a few seconds. They turned us around and told us to form up on the Brooklyn Bridge. We got to the bridge and they started sending us over 1 company at a time. When the company in front of you got to mid-span the next company started out. The reason for this was we were told another plane was inbound and if they hit the bridge they did'nt want a bottleneck of us on it. We were just past mid-span when the second tower collapsed. I look back at it now and that half hour we were stuck in traffic probably saved a few lives. We definately would have been there if we were'nt delayed. We got to the staging area at West and Vesey streets, the Chief told us to dig out the satellite unit (it carries high volume hose) and to start stretching the line up Vesey street to the water. A fireboat was moored there and we had to hook up the line to it so it could start pumping water into the site. All the water mains were broken and fires were burning everywhere. All the buildings, all our rigs, the cars parked in the street, the paper on the ground, it looked like hell. After this was done we tried to find a way into the wreckage, we were hearing Maydays on our radios that there were some of our guys trapped in a stairway, but we had no idea where it was. We stretched lines into the rubble to try and put some of the pockets of fire out so we could start looking for people. We eventually got word they wanted everybody out because 7 WTC was going to collapse. We backed out and waited. I guess around 5:30 it finally came down. After, we just dug. I don't know how long. We got back to the Firehouse around 1:00 AM. We walked in and we had a company from Roselle NJ in qtrs. We thanked them for coming. We took showers, had something to eat, and watched the news. Went back up the next morning and dug all day. It was a rough few months, you were at 1 of 3 places, the firehouse, the WTC, or at a funeral or memorial. It was real rough on the family. My son was only three months old and my daughter just started nursery school, my wife works. It was hectic, but my wife held us all together. I was a wreck. I knew 63 of the guys, my first firehouse (I transferred to S.I. in 99) lost 7 guys, one of them had 10 kids. I don't know how she's doing it, alot stronger than I am. We lost too many good people that day, and I'm proud and humbled to say I knew, worked with, and learned from some of the best people who ever walked the planet. We had just finished our lesson when the owner of the stables came running up to me asking if I was from New York. I told her that I was actually from Chicago. She then went on to tell me that someone had blown up the Pentagon. To be honest, I thought she had misunderstood, since the Pentagon isnt in New York. My friend and I went back to her house and turned on the news immediatly....I could hardly believe it. I had been so homesick prior to the 11th that I was really depressed, and and that point I was desperate to go home. I had never felt so helpless. I was in a state of panic, because at that time there was no way of knowing how many planes were still in the air and my sister worked in the Sears tower. All I could think was that they might go for that building as well. Luckily, my family was okay. All I can say is that I wish that there had been more that we Americans in other countries could have done. I gave what money I could, but I wasnt allowed to give blood because of the fear of BSE. Tell us your story: Watching television on a weekday morning is something out of the norm for me because I'm usually working or on the computer at that particular time of the day. But for some unknown reason, I turned the TV on that fateful morning of 9/11 and I just STOOD in front of it. When I saw a plane fly into a building, I became confused and began to wonder if I had made a mistake and turned on one of the Movie Stations instead of the Local Station, like the number on our cable box was displaying. Then I HEARD about what had just happened to the First Tower at the World Trade Center. Like so many others, I could not believe my eyes when I saw that plane crash into that staturesque building right in the middle of downtown New York City! The image was so SURREAL, yet I remember thinking, "I can't believe that I picked THIS day to watch morning TV and actually WITNESS this plane crashing into the WTC Building. AND it's BEFORE I hear it from ANYONE else OR see it LATER in the evening news"! I thought to myself, "If this is a joke, TV has REALLY gone TOO FAR with this "Reality" TV crap and this is SICK!!!" But when it FINALLY "sunk in" that this was NO JOKE, I'll NEVER forget that gripping feeling of POWERLESS. Well, as shocked as I was then, it was still NOTHING compared to how I felt just a few minutes later, when I watched the "live" news coverage of the NEXT airplane flying into the SECOND World Tade Center Building. As this was happening, I surmised that the pilots on the plane HAD to have been DRUGGED or something, in order to fly through an entire building like that with PEOPLE on the plane! Immediately, I KNEW that those people on THAT plane HAD to have DISINTEGRATED INSTANTLY!!! The weirdest thing about it was, at that time it hadn't even DAWNED on me yet, that there was probably people in the building AS WELL! It wasn't until I saw the Live News coverage showing the footage of all the chaos of Emergency Vehicles and Crews desperately trying to get INTO the building to put the fires OUT, that it finally "HIT" me there was MORE PEOPLE up there besides the ones on the PLANE! I just kept shaking my head "NO!" and saying, "Oh, my God!" and "God, PLEASE HELP them!" and "Help all those PEOPLE!" Like so many others, I NEVER could have imagined what was going to happen to the second WTC building in the next horrendous moments to come. My stomache was already so NAUSEOUS and I stood there UNABLE to MOVE! I was so sick, yet I was frozen to the point that I couldn't even sit down! My knees were so weak, but still I couldn't sit down. I so tired of standing for over 2 HOURS now, AND STILL, I couldn't sit down! I felt like I was going to PUKE! AND STILL I COULD NOT SIT DOWN!!! I cried.....I prayed.....I shook my head "NO!" in disbelief.....and no matter what.....I just could not sit down. I can't write this "story" without feeling like I'm going to "throw-up". I can't write this "story" without sheading many of tears. I can't write this "story" without shaking my head back and forth in disbelief, while saying "NO!". I can't write this "story" without praying for all those people.....the ones who died.....the ones who didn't.....the ones who DID IT! I can't write this "story" without feeling SADNESS for my Country. I can't write this "story" without feeling HAPPINESS and PRIDE whenever I see our Nation's Flag. The "Hole" that was left at "Ground Zero" is as big as the "hole" that is left in my soul, and that sick feeling of Powerlessness that remains there still. I've never been to New York...OR Pennsylvania...OR Washington D.C., but THIS I do know. I have a "calling" in my soul to THIS VERY DAY. I know I must someday GO to these places and...let that sick feeling in my soul go away...let my head shake back and forth and say, "NO!".....let my tears uncontrollably fall...let all my prayers for those who died, those who didn't, and those who "did it"; RISE UP TO THE HEAVENS along with those beautiful Lightbeams at "Ground Zero"...and finally...let my heart feel HAPPINESS and PRIDE every time I see my Nation's Flag. Everything was just a typical day until I heard on the radio the news that the World Trade Center in New York had been struck by a plane. At first, I sat in disbelief, then listened even more intently as a second plane hit. I called my girlfriend at her job to talk about it, then called my dad who lives in Florida to talk about it and just to hear his voice. I searched for news web sites on my computer and quickly went to ABC News. I immediately thought of my 2 cousins who work in New York City - one as a broker and living near the World Trade Center, the other as a public relations representative. I called my aunt and uncle to see if they had any news on my cousins, but since the phone lines were not working in New York, especially cell phone lines, they had no news. Then the plane crashed into the Pentagon and more sadness filled my heart. America was being targeted and we had no idea who was behind this evil. More time passed and a then the news of a plane crash in Pennsylvania. I thought of all of the people who lost their lives, their families, their friends, the men and women who gave their lives in rescue efforts. It was surely a day that would forever stay in my mind. I heard later that day that my cousins were ok in New York, but they were at a big loss since they had lost many of their friends and business associates. I was filled with sadness that day, and disbelief, and anger. Many of those feelings linger, but I can say that the American spirit lifted the hearts of people around the world. We need to keep that spriti alive in all of us and bring everyone who was involved in this horrible tragedy against the United States to justice. We need to continue to value life and our freedoms as much as we always should have - not just for the moment. Hi, my name is Debra A Jeffries and I am a manager at the Budget/Ryder-TRS Car & Truck Rental nation wide reservation center. We reserve cars and moving trucks all over the USA. As we all know, the planes were grounded that day and several days afterwards. America needed to get home to thier loved ones. Our lines were so jamed, we could hardly keep up! People were crying to us, saying that we HAD to get them home. That we were thier only chance. As an Air Force Vet, I knew that this was the begining of war on our turf as we never knew it. It seems that my training took over, as I began to cover the reservation floor helping with as many calls as I could. Staying calm, reasuring my Agents, sometimes with only a "look". They knew what I meant. Men and Women were telling us that the towers were comming down and to please get us home. With so much of America trying to get home, our fleet was shrinking...and fast! We quickly turned to our truck fleet. Yes thats right...we were sending people home in 15 passenger vans, saying to them all who are going West, North, South any direction, get in and we will drop you off as close as we can. They were traveling in Cargo vans, 15', 24' empty moving trucks with only prayer and the hope of getting home as fast as they could. In the days that followed, new policy after new policy came down from our top brass, after all we never had to do anything as vast and heart wrinching as this before. When it was all done we all here at Budget felt that we had made a difference and helped to get Americans home. We will never forget any of the Americans and our world-wide friends that did not make it home that day, but we take PRIDE in the fact that they will always have a safe "HOME" in our hearts. Many innocent people were killed by cowardly terrorists who were destined to change American?s lives forever. Osama Bin Laden the leader of the terrorists sent 21 hijackers to send 4 planes into the World Trade Centers, The Pentagon, and Somerset County. The plane that hit Somerset County was not intended there but was crash landed thanks to the brave passengers of flight 93. I was personally affected by 9/11 because innocent people were killed. The people weren?t doing any harm to the terrorists they were just trying to do their jobs. Although I don?t know anyone who was killed in the attacks I can imagine what they are going through because I have seen many TV shows on the changed lives of the people who died. Flight 93 may have been one of the most tragic and bravest occurrences in all of the attacks on that day. The passengers on that plane may have saved many lives with their heroism. The people on that flight attacked the terrorists who were hijacking the plane and brought the plane down with no harm to anyone else. I think this is very brave because these people saved many other Americans lives and it wasn?t going to benefit them any because they were most likely going to die anyway. This plane may have been headed for the White House or another important building but the courageous passengers on flight 93 brought it down. The passengers of flight 93 have changed the lives of our generation because their bravery has inspired many people. I think that the bravery of the firefighters of N.Y.C. has also inspired many people. The people who live in New York are now are more proud of their city just like many people are proud of the people of New York. I think that 9/11 has showed Americans how our country can function when everyone works together just like everyone did in New York on that day. I think that if the country continues to be this patriotic and be aware of terrorism that no attacks will ever happen like this again. I go to my first period class (Gym) with Mr. Hughes and everything seems to be normal. Once class ends, I begin to walk to my Tech class with Mr. Hatcher. I had already been to my locker so I had everything I needed that day. Even though I had everything, I was not ready for one thing that day. Mr. Powell, the shop teacher in the classroom over rushes in but still seemed calm told Mr. Hatcher that a plane hit the World Trade Center. I didn't understand. I was confused. How could a plane hit a giant building? Mr. Powell, I could tell, got increasingly more worried. He pulled out his cell phone and ran off. We stayed put in the classroom while Mr. Hatcher turned on his television to the news when we all saw the second plane crash in to the other tower. There was no explaining how this could happen. The first plane may have been a mistake, a miscalculation. But two? Then it hit me. This was intentional. It was an attack. A start of a new battle for survival. A few seconds after the second plane hit, I could feel a tear running down the right side of my face. I didn't even know it until it dripped from my chin to the table. It was at that point, it got so much worse. My father was in the Air Force as a computer programmer and had retired in Feb. of 2001. He had worked in the Pentagon for 3 years until his retirement. He was now working for a company by the name of AB Floyd located in Alexandria, Virginia. He had still been doing work for the Pentagon. AB Floyd was in charge of writing software for the military. He had been in the building a few times for the past few weeks. I don't know if he was going there on that fateful Tuesday morning. We were all watching CNN closer and closer in Mr. Hatcher's class and then the anchor said, "This report just in, another plane has struck the Pentagon in Washington D.C. It didn't hit me at first that my father was working there for a while now and whether or not he was there at the time. The bell had rang but no one left their seats. We stayed there, quietly, watching in horror. Mr. Hatcher told us to go to the next class so I proceeded to English with Mrs. Thrall. I got inside and the news was already on with a video of the World Trade Center Towers. That was when the most horrifying moment of my life happened. When those two gigantic symbols of American strength, freedom, endurance, and will, collapsed in front of my eyes. It was terrible. That was when the announcement came over the PA system. The principal announced that anyone that had a cell phone could use it to call home to make sure everyone was okay. I had never seen so many phones in my life. I had called home to make sure everything was alright but my mother said she hadn't gotten a hold of my father. I was scared. I asked for his phone number and she toldme and I tried for about 45 minutes to get a hold of him. No answer. I called the front desk office of the company and asked where he was and they assured me that he was in a meeting and he was alright. I thanked God that he was still alive. But there were other people at my school that were less fortunate. I prayed to God that they would all be alright and that we would be able to overcome the terrible day. My friends and me were in Earth Science just hanging out and talking because our teacher was not ready to start class. Then a teacher came in and said that a plane had just hit the World Trade Tower. I had no clue what the World Trade Centers were. Now after the planes have hit them I realize how important they were. The news showed live pitchers of ground zero. The pile where the buildings used to be is all smoke; you could not see anything because of all the smoke. I had heard that a plane hit the two worlds trades towers, pantheon and the 7th tower of the other building falling. I went and turned on the T, V, I saw people falling or jumping out the buildings. There was smoke and fire in the sky, buildings falling everywhere they landed very hard to the ground. The people in the buildings are very hurt, sick, and don?t know what?s going on. People died and they don?t even know why. The people that did live are very lucky because people who did die had to go through attack by the fundamentalists Muslims that they didn?t know who actually did it. People were very upset about the whole thing. People that did this need to learn how to be a person and get something out of their lives and not destroy our country. If they wanted to talk about their problems or what they have against us they should of tried to talk to us about it. Yes! They sent signs of warnings, but if they would of talked to something or us we could of explained. These people that died were working they didn?t do anything to the fundamentalists Muslims. They were innocent they had no right to die, suffer, get hurt. These people that did do it have problems because it?s not our fault. If they have problems with the government they could of talked to them about it. They shouldn?t have to take it out on the U.S people. Everyone was watching the news to see if his or her relatives were hurt or died. That would be very upsetting and sad if I found out that a relative if someone or mine I loved had died. People couldn?t believe what was going on. They didn?t know how to react. My friend April had an aunt and uncle that worked there and she was crying because she was in school and couldn?t find out much in school. Know everyone that go places are scared to go outside to go anywhere and that?s not right people shouldn?t have to be scared in their own neighborhood. This attack was very harmful and upsetting. I feel that this should have ever happened because we didn?t do anything to them. The government met of done something, but we didn?t do anything to hurt them. We had just gotten back from our vacation to Ocean City, MD and I had taken an additional week off to relax with the kids and unpack. The kids and I, of course, we watching a movie when my husband called and said have you seen the news. I said no, we have been having breakfast while watching a movie and the kids were still in their pjs. I turned the channel on and thought I had just turned it to a violent movie. My children were 1 and 2 1/2 at the time and never realized that watching these images on TV would have an impact on them. But it did. My son kept asking what was wrong with the building and why did it have a boo-boo? We quickly realized that these images were just so unbelievable. To this day, I still can't believe it isn't just a horrible movie. Some of my family members have gone to ground zero, they have said every american should visit it just to understand the magnitude, loss, devistation and reality of it all. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: My name is Barbara and I was called in to work the morning of 9-11-01, and was told to turn on my television set. I was not prepared for what I saw, as the 1st World Trade Center building fell, I was in shock. I thought to myself I have got to get to my job in Grand Prairie, Texas @ Carter Bloodcare. When I got there, there were people already gathering in front of the door to our Center to donate blood. We had all of our television sets on to keep up with what was happening. That day, I will never forget the Unity and Love shown by all those people, those Americans united to help however they could! Those people waited patiently for 7-8 hours before getting their turn to donate blood in the event of this disaster, all the time those people pulled together to help donors and employees. All of the surrounding Grocery Stores furnished cases of food, and some of the fast food establishments sent food for the donors and staff. Those donors helped pass out food and emptied trash cans as they filled. The whole time, no one complained. I witnessed a Unity like none other! I would like to commend all volunteers for the hard work and long hours they put in to help on a day that no one will ever forget, a day everyone united to get through a day of great sadness over the many families that were broken because some terrorists felt they needed to fly our own aircraft into our buldings to kill Americans for some wicked reason. Thanks be to the Firemen and all those at ground zero, and thanks to President Bush for acting so quickly and being there for us and putting himself in harms way to be with those at ground Zero to provide encouragement, I feel honored and priviledged to have such a President!!!! Tell us your story: On September 11th I was in my 3rd period clssroom at school. it was such an ordinary day to me and I think it was the same for everyone else in and outside of the twin towers, Pentagon, and airport. I thought that I was so sure that nothing was going to happen on that day but was I? Obviously not. My teacher was telling us about potential and kinetic energy when suddenly the principal came over the loid speaker, she told us the bad news and I could hear the terror in her voice. Then we were told to turn on the television sets in our classrooms to see what was going on. I looked and watched in terror as I saw the footage that had been played over and over and over again of the first plane hitting tower 1. Then breaking news showed a second jetliner hitting the south tower. I felt my heart sink, like a jolt of lighting had shot through it. All I was watching all day long at school was all the reaking news and watching all the planes hitting all different spots in the world. When school was out I rushed to the bus in which my mother drives and starteed to cry, she said I know it is hard for you but you have to calm down. I got off at my bus stop instead of waiting and riding the whole bus ride with my mom. I rushed into the living room and turned the volume all the way up so that I could hear of what had happened since I had left from school. My mom had had a tape in the VCR earlier that moring so that she could tape her soap operas but instead the second that the news came on she started to tape it. We have kept al of the newspapers from the rest of the onth of September 11th on. Two days ago was the anniversary of 9/11 and i've been guilty since because I couldn't light candles outside of my house because the wind kept blowing them out. I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT DAY, AND THE NAMES OF WHOM WERE LOST AND TOSE WHO STILL LIVE ON TODAY I WILL NEVER FORGET THE HEROS THAT HELPED SAVE MANY AND YET LOST THEIR OWN LIVES TRYING TO DO SO, FIREFIGHTERS,PARAMEDICS,POLICE OFFICERS,AMBULANCES MILITARY ETC. THIS DAY WILLLIVE IN INFAMY. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND MY THOUGHTS ARE WITH YOU NOW AND FOREVER!!!!!!!! I will never forget the horror of watching the 2nd plane crash in to the south tower. Even now it seems surreal to me esp. since my nephew worked in the south tower, and I wasnt sure if he was there or not. To my relief I found out that he was not at work that day, as he had taken his wife to a Dr appt. Less than a week later he was killed in a motercycle crash when his bike hit debre when he had gone over to assist in the clean up at the site. So in a sence to me he was still killed by the terrorits. I still have a hard time seeing the new skyline in New York and the towers not being there.
