Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I never really have known what to say or to write to anybody who was involved with the September tragedy. All I know is that I never thought that I would half to live through another day like The Oklahoma City Bombing. Even though I wasn't directly invovled in either it didn't make me immune to the feelings one feels when they see those images!! On the day of the 9/11 attack I was at home with my three small girls. The girls were watching cartoons and I was just cat-napping. The phone rang about 8:30am., it was my mother-in-law. She told me to change the channel to a regular station. I just sat there in shock, in horror and total disbelief in what I was seeing. I was watching Tower 1 on fire and listening to the news people talk about what was happening. My mind didn't have to much time to absorb the first of the destruction because I was a wittness to the 2nd plane flying into the 2nd tower. The first thing I did was go to the phone and call my husband and ask him if he knew about all of this. He was watchi! ng the t.v. at work along with all the people he works with and all the customers. It was just like everything else failed to exist and all that mattered was to see what was happening. Shock was alos his main rrreaction to the situation at hand. I watched the t.v. all that day never changing channels and rarely taking a my eyes off the screen only to tend to my children. Now that I look back at that day, my girls who usually demand all my attention and half to be watched pretty carefully never got into anything never were unruly that day. They just let me sit there , like they knew something important had happend and I needed the calm. It was one of the oddest days in my life. That night when my whole family was together we discussed some of what had happened. Even as an adult I couldn't explain to myself much less to my oldest daughter what had happened or why. As of this date I still watch all the news shows and try to keep up on all that has happened . One day I wil! l tell my children of this day and try to explain why! I just hope and pray everyday that I will never half to change the channel again to see mass destruction. I pray that everyone who lost loved ones will grow stronger by knowing that people like me who weren't directly involved still feel pain, not for lost ones, but for the pain that felt all around the world that day and all the days that followed. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I was boarding a flight at National Airport in Washington to attend the U.S. Conference on AIDS in Miami. We were just about to board when an announcement was made that all flights out of the Washington area were grounded. Then the television showing the CNN Airport Network went dead. I could tell something bad had happened because the airline personnel looked noticeably shaken. Suddenly there was a muffled rumble and we saw a large plume of fire and smoke rise from the direction of the Pentagon, less than a mile away. A few minutes later the announcement was made to evacuate the airport; I overheard some people saying that New York was under attack. I was scared and confused and wasn?t sure where to go, so I went to the parking garage across the street from the airport. As I stood on the roof of the parking garage with a few other people, watching the smoke drift our way and fighter jets patrolling the skies, I grabbed my Walkman radio out of my luggage and tuned into the news unfolding along the East Coast. I told the others I was with of the World Trade Center attack and the subsequent collapse of the towers. Shocked and bewildered, we all tried to call loved ones to tell them we were OK and to check on their safety, but the lines were all tied up. Soon the smell of burning fuel drifted over the airport and we saw papers and other small debris carried by the wind begin to fall from the sky. Soon after, we began to walk toward Arlington, following the crowds of other displaced air travelers and airport employees. Five hours after the east side of the Pentagon exploded I made it home. Mahoney ENG 111 Honors Sept. 12, 2003 I always thought it was weird how a person could bring up a major event in American history and anyone within hearing distance would say ?I?ll never forget where I was/what I was doing when that happened.? . I never understood until 9-11-01. I was asleep when my older sister ran into my room and said that the planes had crashed into the towers in NYC. Between her hurried words and still being half asleep I didn?t understand what she was saying but I new it was serious so I jumped out of bed. It was on every channel on TV and the media kept showing the images over and over. That whole day was a blur- the news just kept getting worse and worse. I still hate the media for showing people jumping out of the towers- I think it was sick and disgusting to show so little compassion to those people. Imagine being in that situation and having someone film it- it?s nauseating. What if by some random chance a family member recognized them, or later on found out that someone they had seen was a loved one that they had lost? Even though I?m an American, from growing up overseas I was never very patriotic. The fourth of July was just twelve days before my birthday- unless we were on vacation in the US it wasn?t a huge deal. I?ve seen so much in my short life that I can understand how other countries saw 9-11 in a much different light as Americans. Look at everything that is happening in Ireland, Tibet, Palestine- there are so many countries that face bombings, shootings, and other violent acts on a daily basis. My husband called me up to tell me that a plane had hit the World Trade Center. He told me to turn on the television. A few minutes after I turned it on I saw the second plane hit the second tower. I was stunned and just had a feeling that this was not just some accident. I tried to watch as much as I could turning from one news station to another. But it wasn't until a few hours later, that I realized I could have lost both my husband and my father in law. They had planned a business trip about a month earlier. The flights they were considering to take were those two flights. They had decided to take the American Airlines flight because the price was right and there was only a few minutes between flights. The Tuesday before September 11, they decided to cancel the flight and leave the tickets open for a future date. They decided not to go because September 11th is my husbands birthday and the 12th is our anniversary. My husband just didn't want to go until after those two days. I realized how lucky we all were on that day. I had this great feeling of joy, but at the same time felt guilty because other people lost their loved ones that day. I spent the next few days feeling shock, as did everyone as a whole. It took a while for the feeling of guilt to leave me. I understood that I could not change what had happened. I prayed for all those who lost their lives and their families. My husband and I look at life alot differently now. We enjoy every moment we have of life and we don't dwell on the little things. We make the best of everything. We stand united with our country and fully support our military. May God Bless America. Tell us your story: I was at work and had just signed online to check to see if my daughter was online - we routinely send instant messages back and forth about what is going on or what we may be doing later that evening. She sent me a message that said, "did you hear about the plane that hit the World Trade Center?" I told her I had not but that I would turn on the t.v. in my office and check it out - at that point we both thought it was a horrible accident. At the moment I turned on the t.v., the second plane had just hit and they were showing the impact over and over again. I let my daughter know that it wasn't an accident, that it was some sort of terrorist action, and she, in turn, was relaying information to her coworkers. We still did not realize the magnitude of what was occurring - a short while later the newspeople were reporting that the Pentagon had been hit - at that point a friend of mine who was also at work and could not get his radio to tune in, started sending me instant messages, asking that I keep him informed about what was going on. The next several hours were spent continually sending messages both to my daughter and friend, updating them as each horrible event occurred, worrying about our children - should we pick them up from school - would that frighten them more - what else was going to occur - just wanting at that point to have them in our arms. I remember feeling as though we were in the Twilight Zone - we were all in a state of shock - all flights being grounded, first one tower collapsing and then another and yet another plane having crashed in rural Pennsylvania. Footage of everything being replayed - shots of fighter jets in the air, ships just off the shores - it seemed as if suddenly, without warning, we were at war, but didn't know with who. And then the heartbreak of friends and relatives walking around the streets with pictures of their missing loved ones, the numbers of missing people from both the Police Department and Fire Department - such heartbreak. It became too much to bear to watch, even a year later - such a helpless feeling - wanting to help but not knowing what to do. The leaderships of both Mayor Guiliani and President Bush, the rallying of the country, increase in patriotism and stories of heroic acts by so many people were comforting at a time that left us wondering what lay ahead. My daughter's high school called that she was sick, so I left my school to get her to take her home. All the way home, we discussed how she was feeling and what made her sick. At 8:50 AM, right after I left Susan at home to return to work, I turned on the car radio and listened to the newscasters' broadcast about the disaster that occurred on that day, September 11, 2001. My insides at first reeled and then I thought that this simply had to be a hoax like the broadcast Orson Welles was known for. I said no and he said, "put on the TV, any major network." It took me a few seconds to absorb what I was looking at. The second plane had already hit the second tower. They were showing that view from some steady camera further uptown and the newscasters were talking over it. My friend had to actually tell me that it was the World Trade Center, because it was such an unexpected visual, that I couldn't understand it right away. I watched for a few minutes, then started calling other people. "Are you watching this?" They all had the same stunned reaction. We were all just staring at our TV, trying to understand what was going on. I needed to get to work, so I packed up an spare, small TV and carried it into work. I set it up at my desk at the newspaper in Nashville, The Tennessean. I worked in the creative services dept., but the only work we did that day were ads that had to go into the paper coming out -- no creative specs were designed that day. We just kept watching my little black and white TV, with the antennae up on top, that would only get in Channel 5, I think it was CBS. When the first tower collapsed, the announcer didn't even realize it at first. Another announcer interrupted them to tell them that the tower was collapsing. Again, we all stood and stared in shock, feeling so helpless. As they day went on, we talked about how scared we were getting. That sense of security we feel in this country, that we take for granted, was being challenged. If this could happen, what else could happen? Was this going to continue? On the following Friday, Nashville held a patriotic rally downtown during lunch. We all walked down there, and people were holding flags, and they were passing small American flags out to people. The place was packed. At some point, during the speeches, when everything was relatively quiet because the crowd was listening to a speaker, a jet flew overhead. The President had just lifted the ban on flying and the first jet was soaring overhead, just having taken off from the Nashville airport. Everyone looked up and watched it. It made us feel better that day, to gather in great numbers and remind ourselves how strong we can be. I wish our country wasn't so divided now, on how to solve this problem of terrorists. Before 9/11, I couldn't have told you what political party any of my friends were. Now I know what all of them are. I think this division makes us weaker as a nation. Everyone is so self-righteous about "their side." People are more concerned with being right, than doing the right thing. Tell us your story: I was listening to WLS radio out of Chicago when i heard the initial reports that a plane had struck one of the World Trade Centers. At that point the reports were sketchy and it was being reported as possibly a small aircraft or a propeller plane of some sort. Then the reports resumed shortly as video was made available and Don Wade and Roma, the radio hosts were reporting the size of the gash in the building and that it had to be larger than a personal aircraft. Reports then were that eyewitnesses saw what they thought was a twin engine jet, possibly a cargo jet strike the building and burst into a fireball. It was at that point that terrorism came to my mind as I drove on to my meeting. In short order, another plane then struck the other Trade Tower and terrorism became the obvious. I remember thinking one of two things - most likely terrorism - or secondly - had the air traffic controllers misguided the planes on a collision course with the buildings. It wasn't long before terrorism was the only logical answer. I made calls from my cell phone to alert people where I worked and my parents. I hade made it all the way to Elkart, Ind. when the coverage had become the only thing on just about any radio station you could turn on. They reported the second plane had created an enormous fireball and that it had turned and made a flight path obviously on purpose and directly smashed through the building. We've all seen the picture. I had been listening to reporters on the scene as the second plane made impact and they looked up in shock watching it happen. I made it to my meeting - business goes on you know. The receptionist was ear to radio and everyone in the office was aware. I toured the plant and met the owner and then as I was leaving the first building came down. There was a solomn mood suddenly as we all realized how terrible this had become. I had not - nor had anyone there seen any footage of it. This was all radio reports. So, our imaginations were our guide. I left shortly as the reports continued. One report from Ashley Bamfield caught my attention as she was running (I'm not exactly sure if this was right before my meeting or right after or if it was as the second plane impacted or as the second building fell. Either way - Ashley began screaming "Oh my God." and you could tell something horrendous had occurred. I recall thinking "What - a bomb? A nuclear explosion?" This was either as the building fell or the second plane impacted. Regardless - I recall seeing every single person driving with a solomn look of determination on their face. We'de look at each other at stop lights and shake our heads or nod and grimace. As I drove home, the reports continued. I live in the Southern Suburbs of Chicago and I stepped on teh gas a bit to get back as quickly as I could. Things were obviously getting worse. Reports now saying a plane down in Pennsylvania and smoke seen at the Pentagon. I'm now thinking perhaps we are at war? I should get my daughter out of school? She goes to school in an area with a large middle-eastern population. Is that a danger? What's going to happen? All flights have been told to immediately land. I am watching a commercial jet flying very low south of the interstate. There are no airports there. It is only perhaps 1,000 ft. maybe 2,000. What targets are there? None that i can think of. Trying to land most likely. Other reports say other planes are no longer in contact with air traffic controllers and that one has been confirmed down in Pennsylvania. Presumably in a field. They are still not reporting anything more than there has been an explosion at teh pentagon and that billows of black smoke can be seen rising. Indeed, it seems we are being attacked on many fronts. I am now in on war footing. I have guns. No ones attacking our area without a fight. I seriously consider that there is a possibility that the attack may be coordinated to the point that our own citizens of middle eastern dissent may be sleeper warriors and that the battle may come to street fighting. There are conflicting reports and to this day I know there was one other flight that had lost contact with air traffic control and ahd disappeared from radar and had been heading toward Chicago. Possible targets were the Sears Tower or other large Chicago buildings. Shortly thereafter, I heard no further reference to that particular flight number. I think it was flight 107 (United Airlines). Perhaps this was confusion as there were thousands of flights in the air at the time and some confusion would be easily understandable. It shocked me how quickly the aircraft around the nation were landed and how quickly the FAA had responded to the orders of grounding all flights immediately. That still amazes me to this day. I remember stopping to pay a toll before exiting the toll road and entering onto the Frank Boreman. The toll attendant - a nice lady, was equally horrified about the attacks but seemed also equally square with resolve. I have never experienced in my life such a unanymous and steadfast resolve among Americans. The terrorists, despite there horrific act of evil had made a terrible miscalculation. American will not stand idle to such threats. In short order - our Commander in Chief, George W. Bush, did what needed to be done in a very pragmatic and reasonable way. He went about the job he had to do and now the evil people that brought terror to us - are either dead, terrified or on the run and in hiding. They may well attack again. But for every one of us they kill, we will bring the wrath of God down on them thousandsfold. They attacked the wrong nation of free people. Oddly, it is now years past - a short while ago historically speaking - and already, there are political elements in our nation willing to dismiss these events and the importance of them. We've finally managed to take a stand in teh world that we should have taken all along - which is simply not to tolerate terror, evil or those that live with and support it. Already, we have the same tired old political rhetoric that completely dismisses the fact that it was they who waged war on us - and that the next attack can and may well come from any number of threats including but not limited to Al Qaeda and Iraq - both of which have been largely beaten. That day easily was the most important historical day in my lifetime, and definitely the most devastating. Never before had these tactics been used against us, the unsuspecting United States of America. As we all had gotten up and began our mornings, we never knew that before lunchtime the beginning of a new era in our country's global role would unfold. I remember hearing the news: I was in Calculus class, hating every minute of it. I heard our principle come over the loudspeaker and was so grateful for an interruption. He announced that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center, and I thought of how ridiculous the pilot of a small, personal plane must feel, for some reason not even thinking that a crash into the World Trade Center would kill anyone. Then I remember hearing him say that it was not an accident but a terrorist attack, and my mind started going in all different directions. I immediately thought of my sister, how she had flown out of New York to England the night before, and how it must have been an Arab, and how we're going to nuke them now, and how Bush is going to snap. The last thing I thought of was that the tower's had collapsed and that people were killed. For some reason, I was so intense on thinking, I pictured a clean hole in the building, and people sitting in the plane, hanging out of the building. All of these thoughts must have occurred in less than half a second. The realization then came to me that those planes were massive and crashing into a building would cause mass destruction, and there would be no survivors. I remember opening my eyes so wide and blinking, ashamed that I had been so naive, scared for everyone involved, but mostly shocked that anyone would do this to our country. The rest of the day vicious rumors went around school that there were eleven more planes still circling in the sky, and how Boston must be a target because they were going to go to all the cities on the Eastern Sea Board, and how they had bombed West Point. There was an absolute frenzy of stories, and I believed every word of it because I believed that anything was possible if the World Trade Centers was attacked in the first place. I remember before we went home, I made sure to say goodbye to all the seniors I knew, since I figured alot of them were 18 and they might get drafted, since everyone just assumed we would be going to war very soon. 9-11 has effected me personally, but not as personally as the thousands whose family members were victims of the infamous day. I've realized that there is no doubt in my mind I would go to war for my country, because I never again want to hear my mom crying about an attack that leaves innocent dead. As cliche as it is now, I appreciate the gift of life more as well as our freedoms. I've also realized how powerful pride is, with all our flags flying, and people trying to get together for the common good, and appreciating our society. Bush definitely gained my respect, and I fully trust him at the helm of my country. His speeches and presence provided the comfort and compassion that America needed. She was telling me of the day the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor; of the shock; of the President pounding his fist on his desk in anger! I was not born when Pearl Harbor was bombed. As a child, the stories of Pearl Harbor seemed so far removed from me; I did not feel threatened that this could ever happen to me or within MY lifetime. Growing up, I felt that the times of Intelligence and the Defense of the United States had improved so much over the years since Pearl Harbor, that this could never happen again. I also, as an American grew up to only fear the big powers-Russia or China... but never a small unknown country like Afghanistan... or an unknown man... The day the planes hit the WTC and Pentagon, I was on the turnpike on my way to work. When, on the radio, I heard that the WTC was hit by a plane, I can clearly remember thinking it must be a terrorist; but just as suddenly I easily fell back into my false sense of safety... and thought.. it must have been an accident... It was not until I arrived at work did I learn of the second, third and fourth planes... I tried to continue working... perhaps this was a defense mechanism to deny what was occurring. On a nine inch black and white TV in a laundry room with a hanger for an antenna, I saw the first tower fall. And suddenly, there was no hiding. I left work. I had this strong need to be home. To get my son who was in school in Philadelphia; to collect my children and go home... as if home was a safe place... For the days that followed, for the time when planes did not fly... it seemed neither did the birds sing. The world went on but was changed. For many months after, I could not look to the sky without scrutinizing a planes path of flight. I feel a bit anxious when the birds are quiet. And I cannot think of that day without feeling the tingle of impending tears.. for those that died, for those left behind.. for the loss of innocence... for the knowledge that my life and the lives of everyone who has lived during this era will be forever just a bit more fearful, less secure; It did not take an Atom bomb; it was not a long range missle. I started walking towards Maiden Lane which is about 2 blocks down from WTC. I kept trying to dial on my cell with no luck. I decided to stop at the Federal Reserve Building and ask someone what had happened when no more than 5 minutes later Tower 2 was hit. The sound was like nothing I had ever heard before. It was the most terrifying thing I had ever seen. I don't remember hearing the plane coming in, but I will never forget the sound of that impact. I don't remember how I got to my building which is 2 blocks down from where I was standing, I just remember walking into my office and asking someone what had happened, that's when the realization hit me that we were getting attacked. I don't remember very much about that day, things are coming back to me almost 2 years later that still make me sad. On September 11, 2001, we expected to see an increase in donors because everybody wants to help when a tragedy occurs. The outpouring of donors was overwhelming!!! We extended our normal hours of operation to try and get as many donors through as possible. At about 10pm, we finally told the rest of the donors to come back on 9/12. September 12 ended up to be a repeat of September 11; once again we had a long line of blood donors waiting up to 3-4 hours to donate. Our two day total of blood donors was over five hundred. A big thank you goes out to all of our volunteers, both donors and helpers. We all came together to work toward a common goal. We truly were "united" within the United States. I am news director at WUFT-TV, the PBS station at the University of Florida. I was in Washington on September 10th and 11th to train at the Associated Press Broadcast Center at 1825 K Street, NW for a new computer system we purchased from the AP. I had checked out of my hotel and walked the few blocks to the AP building and entered the reception area about 9 a.m. A number of people were standing around looking at the bank of four TVs at scenes from the World Trade Center. I called my station to see what we were doing to localize the story in Gainesville. After making sure things were on track there, I went back to the AP training room to continue working with the ENPS newsroom software. Within a few minutes our trainer noted a bulletin on the AP wire that a plane had hit the Pentagon. Since I was only a few blocks from the White House, which I figured might be a target, I decided to become a reporter again at that point. So I left the AP building and began walking toward the White House. There were already hundreds of people out on the street and vehicles in bumper-to-bumper traffic. As I turned down 17th Street, people huddled around cars listening to radios. Many were shaking their heads and holding their hands over their mouths in disbelief. As I crossed a street a man yelled from his van that the World Trade Center had collapsed. I couldn?t believe it?it didn?t seem like that could happen. As I got closer to the White House I tried calling my station on my cell phone to report on the situation. I couldn?t get through. My first thought was that the terrorists had bombed the cell phone towers. I kept trying to get through, since I did see some people on cell phones. I reached the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue and 17th Street, across from the Old Executive (Eisenhower) Office Building, still trying to get through on my cell phone. In the intersection uniformed Secret Service officers had their backs to the White House, keeping an eye on the small crowd on the street corner (some were journalists with cameras, others just gawkers). The officers had closed 17th Street on the west side of the EOB and were also directing traffic away from the area as quickly as they could. At that point I noticed Mary Matalin, an aide to Vice President Dick Cheney, try to cross 17th, but an officer refused to let her inside the secured area ? even though she flashed an ID and was a recognizable official. In the distance, over the EOB and the White House I could see smoke from the Pentagon. Two fighter jets also screamed high overhead, somewhat reassuring, but another indication that our nation?s capital was under attack. Shortly after that, several uniformed Secret Service officers started yelling for people to move off the corner and farther down 17th away from the White House. At that point I was able to get through on my cell phone to the station. The assistant news director of WUFT-FM, Dave Schermer, recorded about three minutes of me on the phone at the scene. You can hear Secret Service officers in the background, very adamant about moving people even farther down the street. They did not say at the time, but I imagine they believed that Flight 93 that eventually crashed in Pennsylvania was headed for the White House and they were trying to get people out of harm?s way. After hanging around at Pennsylvania and 18th for awhile, I decided there was little more I could do as a reporter. I had no camera and was not credentialed to report at any of the federal facilities. So I walked back to the AP building. I met up with my station?s tech guy, Arlindo Albuquerque, who was also training there. We decided to end our training (in fact, the AP had sent our trainer off as a messenger). We were scheduled to fly out that evening, but flights were grounded everywhere. Fortunately, Arlindo had a rental car which he arranged to keep to drive back to Florida. We packed up our computer gear and borrowed a dolly; an AP staffer helped us take our gear to the parked car about five blocks away. As we walked along K Street, we made faster progress than the near-standstill traffic trying to get out of town. When we finally got in the car, we nudged into the traffic and headed for Georgetown, the fastest exit we figured from Washington. I heard a ?whump, whump? and feared there had been more explosions from another attack. But soon a radio reporter said it had just been sonic booms from military jets. What normally would be a ten minute drive, turned into an hour-and-a-half ordeal. We finally made it to the Key Bridge crossing into Virginia, where we got a clear view of the Pentagon down river and two fighter jets circling above. In the Virginia countryside going down I-95 one man draped an American flag from an overpass. As we headed back to Florida we listened intently for any news; after what I had witnessed in Washington, I couldn?t believe the reports that Flight 93 may have been targeting Camp David. We stopped for the night in South Carolina so we could see President Bush address the nation. I watched with disbelief as the video of the attacks replayed?then before the President?s speech, watching a replay of representatives and senators singing God Bless America on Capitol Hill, tears welled in my eyes. I have since thought many times about the brave souls on Flight 93 and silently thanked them ? for they may have given their lives to spare mine on September 11th. Someone had heard that a plane had hit the World Trade Center. The T.V. in our break room was turned on and everyone packed in there to watch it. I finally got back in an airplane in August 2003, without trepidation. But I do feel a lingering anxiety since the WTC disaster that manifested itself in a weird way. They've torn down an existing building on the Penn State campus to construct a larger, more modern one. After demolition began, and while skeletal parts of the old building remained standing, as I drove past the site every morning on the way in to work I'd feel the adrenaline start to pump and a twinge of fear hit my stomach. Just seeing the partially demolished building brought back the same visceral reaction as when the twin towers fell. I've been back to NJ many times since 9-11 but still cannot bring myself to look at the NYC skyline or visit the WTC site. Even writing about it now makes my heart beat faster. My family was staying at a friend's house due to a house fire that gutted our home. It worked out well because they were on vacation in Turkey. My three year old woke me up from his nearby crib. I looked at the clock and remember thinking I was getting a late start. I turned on the TV. My eight year old had watched it last and left it on channel 29. Strange movie, I thought when I saw what was on. Paying little attention to it, I turned the channel. It took but a second and the disbeliefe set in. How could that happen? Switching to CNN, I sat for the next two hours, barely moving. When the first tower fell, I felt a thud in my heart. When the second fell, I knew my heart broke. And so it was that the world changed. We saw the worst in people and the best, side by side, each soon to be before a higher power to be judged. We came together as a nation in our shared grief. 9-11 opened our eyes to a world that too many of us ignored. Title A name given to the resource September 11 Digital Archive Stories Description An account of the resource This collection is the bulk of the archive, representing the reactions and experiences of thousands of individuals beginning in 2002. 911DA Story 911DA Story: Story Tell us about what you did, saw, or heard on September 11th. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: On September 11th, 2001 I was sitting in my Earth Science class with my teacher Miss. Kerch when a boy in our class named Ricky walked in ad said, "A plane just hit the World Trade Centers in New York City!" So my teacher Miss. Kerch turned on the television to CNN and we watched it for the rest of that class period. In my earth science class what we all saw was plane crashing into one of the world trade centers, and then as the whole world was concentrating on the world trade centers another plane hit one of the sides of the pentagon. Then all of a sudden out of nowhere the south tower of the trade canter collapsed. A few seconds later the north tower collapsed. After that the wall on the pentagon collapsed. That day I was really sad because my cousin works in the US treasury at the pentagon. That day she was supposed to work in the same place where the plane hit the pentagon, but luck fully that day she was rescheduled to work in a camp in Washington D.C. away from where the pentagon was. Another thing I saw on TV a family a wife, daughter, and sister that were looking for this man they searched all over for him. They kept going back and forth past the world trade centers looking all of a sudden the daughter screams, "DADDY!" and she sprints over to him and gives him a huge hug. One thing I thought was heroic, and sad at the same time was This one little boy and girl I baby sit for, there father is in the US army reserve and he was in NYC helping clean up the world trade centers. I will always be praying for those families who have lost loved ones and friends. I will always remember that significant day on which the world trade centers were attacked! September 11, 2001.
