Tell us your story: I remember I was in my English class at the time of the attack's but I had no clue to what was going on until I entered my 2nd period class which was Choir. I was a Junior in High School at the time of the attacks and now I'm a Senior. I remember that I could almost hear a pin drop when we were watching the news and some of us even had tears in our eye's and then just watching the tower's come crashing down to the ground was very hard to watch. In the days that followed the attacks I remember arriving at school everyday to see our flags flying at half staff for several weeks and then our school did a money drive to help the people of New York and Pennsylvania. I felt sad for all those families who lost their loved ones on that day and I will never be able to forget them. May God Bless you all. Tell us your story: My husband and daughter were at school and work.I was making myself breakfast,when on Good Moring America announced it.I was so scared and wanted my family with me.For some reason my husband stopped home on one of his coffee breaks.At about 9:00am I was so glad to see him.We then went and got my daughter out of school.I in no way want anyone to think I liked what they did.But I must admit that was the scariest feeling in my life.They really put the terror in terrorism.I didnt feel safe in my own home,and could not stop watching tv.I was on the phone with my nephew when the first tower fell,we didnt say a word we just watched.When we finally could speak,it was with tears in our eyes and throats.My parents were on a cross country driving trip,they were going to all the places that were quickly being closed.We had no way to get in touch with them.My 4 sisters and 1 brother and I were frantic.Trying to find out where they were,so we could tell them to come home.About one day later they called.They were on the road and had no idea as to what happened.When they realized they phoned us.I felt the worst I have ever felt in my life.I refuse to live my life in fear,Im more aware of my surroundings now.I have a new look on life,and express my feelings to those I love,I may never get the chance to again.I have changed as all Americans have since that day.Speaking for myself only,I have come to realize that this is the best place to live.I am honored to be an American,and never felt prouder of my country or our leader,I have a renewed respect for the police fire and rescue people.I no longer take anything or anyone for granted.Sometimes in life you must pass through the darkness to reach the light.And thats exactly what we did.We Americans rose to this threat,pulled together and stand united as one.Osma you underestimated us,we did not run and hide and never will.Terrorist around the world take notice,and learn. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I teach at a large university, and on the morning of 9/11 I was in a Department meeting until 11:00. I'd heard on the way to work about a "small plane" hitting the World Trade Center, but at that point the radio announcer had not sounded alarmed. Toward the end of our meeting a colleague walked in and whispered something to the Dept chair. I'll never forget him announcing that the twin towers had been hit by two airplanes and "collapsed." I thought he must mean that the *planes* had collapsed, not the towers. But then he said that 50,000 people worked at the WTC, and I realized that, somehow, beyond comprehension, the buildings themselves had crumbled. My wife works on the other side of campus, and as I walked down the avenue toward her building I was in a daze, trying to fathom what this meant. I didn't realize at the time that many people had had the chance to escape the towers before they fell, and I kept thinking that this was the equivalent, in a single day, of virtually all the soldiers we lost in the Vietnam War. And in the midst of my dismay I thought ahead to how the Bush administration would use all of this to push its military agenda--that we would now be sunk in that agenda for years, and billions of dollars, all in the name of protecting U.S. security and supremacy. Though I am a long-lapsed Catholic, I stepped into a church on the way to my wife's office. There was nobody inside, and I sat down to think, to imagine, to mourn. All that death. All that awful death and destruction. We drove through the thick traffic to pick up our son at his school, and returned home to watch the recurring images. Over and over the planes hit, the towers fell. The announcers droned on, struggling for words, for metaphors and analogies. "Attack on America." "America's New War." The ideological machine was geering up, moving forward already, telling the public what to think and who to blame. It was impossible to sleep that night. Impossible to do anything but place myself, again and again, inside those buildings and inside those planes, living in nightmarish fantasy what for others had been real. What could be said? I climbed off my bed, tired and irritated that someone would have the audacity to call me at 8:45 in the morning when everyone knew that I did not start classes until 11 o?clock. The voice of a good friend on the other end, scared and curious, mumbled something about the World Trade Center and New York City. I turned on the television not prepared to see what appeared before me. Images of fire and smoke flowing from the focal points of the NYC skyline flooded my eyes. At first I sat silently, staring in disbelief and horror. Then information began to pour from a familiar face on the screen. As I dressed for Dr. Turner?s Inauguration, I watched as the second tower was struck by yet another commercial plane and stood in disbelief as people were blown from the building. News that the Pentagon had also been hit came across the screen, everyone awestricken and speechless. All I could do was pray? This story was ripped from the headlines. For hours I watched, unable to move, as New Yorkers ran screaming from the rubble of the World Trade Towers. More facts were uncovered as the day progressed, explanations emerged as people tried to make sense of what had happened, and the horrified reporters distributed the news. As heroes emerged, a void became present in America. September 11, 2001 will remain forever engraved in my mind. As if being at college, having everything I knew as familiar taken away was not enough, terrorists attacked the United States and threatened the safety of our country. The sights that I saw before me were amazing. I recalled a recent summer trip to New York City with my church. My mind went to the children, families, and the churches that I had worked with in the heart of NYC just over a year ago. I wondered if the children and their families had been affected. I was curious to know how our churches were doing, if they had been destroyed. I prayed for the people: the families I had grown to know, the rescue workers, the families of the victims, and the Americans that perished. In my opinion, the United States government handled this situation extremely well. The calm manner in which they addressed the nation helped to ease my anxiety, yet they showed a since of urgency so that the world would understand the severity of the situation. I felt safe seeing our President walk across the lawn of the White House, unguarded. I think it showed that the United States was not afraid, and cowards would not intimidate us. The media, however, was not on my good side by the end of the day. I felt safe and secure knowing that I could turn on the television or the radio and see the most current, updated information. But for once, I feared the safety of our President. The location at which President Bush was kept should have remained a secret, not only for his personal safety, but also for the safety of our country. I was disappointed that the media broadcast his location to the entire nation. The September 11th incident has affected the United States in a positive way I think. The patriotism of our country has become much more evident and respected now. I love seeing red, white, and blue all over town. I like to drive down the street and see the American flag flying. I also think that the security in our nation has increased by a great margin. I am fairly sure that most Americans felt safe before, but now heightened security measures have taken over common procedures. The overall mindset of America has changed from thinking our country is invincible to understanding the reality that the United States is just as vulnerable as any other country in the world. Americans wake up every morning with a routine and, suddenly, one day, our world stopped because a group of men attacked our country. The bubble around the American way of life was popped. Another good thing that emerged from this tragedy, in my opinion, is that religion has returned as a front in our country. Never in my lifetime have I seen the amount of prayer on national television, as I have seen during the last month. This country was founded by people seeking religious refuge, and now the safe haven they once searched for has returned to America. To see the President of the United States ask the nation to pray for safety was calming, but to watch a prayer service initiated by the President himself nationally broadcast was more reassuring. I feel the safest when I am overly aware of God?s presence, and I think everyone in America felt the presence of God on September 11th.and the days following. America suffered a great loss on September 11, 2001. A great loss of lives that was recovered by a structure built by emerging heroes and God-fearing Americans. Americans now know that the United States is not invincible, but they also know that the United States is not easily defeated. A sense of duty and patriotism has swept over the nation, and I think the love the people of America have for this great nation will become more evident as the months progress. I walked home and took my volunteer I.D. for NYU Medical Ctr. and walked over to St. Vincent?s Hospital. On University Place, someone set off something on the street. It whirred around and I remember quietly leaning my head against a building waiting for an explosion?it was a stupid unexplained happening...no explosion. St.Vincent?s turned me away...sadly they didn?t need help. At first the streets were crowded with people listening?I remember car doors open and radios blaring...some people were sobbing. Then came people quietly and calmly walking up from downtown. I remember a couple covered like snow men in ashes??WTC death dust? I would call it now. My building made me so proud...they opened up the doors and let people sit down, use the phone, bathroom...I remember thinking this is an unfathomable tragedy and feeling I have experienced the best in humanity. I remember my Doctor telling me how impressed she was with the Firemen. She said as soon as she treated the firemen they rushed back downtown. Being situated below 14th street, we were closed off to the rest of the world. I remember a Fire truck had to come the next night and put out a small fire under my window. I smelled smoke and turned on the tv wondering if there had been another terrorist attack but it turned out as but it turned out to be a small smokey trash fire. I felt sorry for tired firemen... I had just had knee surgery August 28th, so I decided to wait until Sunday, Sept. 16 and started the most intensive ?multitasking volunteering?. For months I stood with people on the highway ?Thanking? rescue workers. This phenomenon started immediately and Firemen buddies still tell me how much it meant to them. I did this until January. I remember bus loads of Firemen covered in dirt...their haunted eyes and dirt covered faces, buses of police, ?humvees? with soldiers now over seas, the list is endless. Being a retired Massage Therapist...I went downtown to my health club, The NYHRC at Whitehall and massaged a lot of NYPD, Army and more. I remember the tents where the soldiers were sleeping in Battery Park and in front of the museums, and I think some disaster specialists were even sleeping on the floor to the museum. I also stopped at Firehouses and rubbed shoulders there too. I visited the morgue to support the Detectives that were doing amazingly dedicated work there. I also returned to NYU Medical Center and worked on a 9-11 archive of volunteers for them. I telephoned as many people as possible to thank them for trying to help NYU Medical Ctr...many very heartbroken because of the sad events and being unable to help...others told me deeply moving stories of their day and contribution. I wrote passionate letters on behalf our FireFighters for their right to dig downtown and to ask for them to be freed when they were arrested. I painted a sign ?Free our FireFighters, NYC Heart and Soul? and I held it up on the highway and I remember running over to Pat Brown?s Firehouse, Ladder 3...I had a "low self esteem moment"and left the sloppily painted but passionate sign on the ground against the bench, Pat Brown?s bench in front of Ladder 3 When I walked by Ladder 3 the next day it was sitting on the bench. Being situated below 14th street, we were closed off to the rest of the world. The next morning I had to pass blockades at 14th street and our National Guard and Police to get newspapers and food. I had to open my back pack and show them the contents...and my license to get back to my home. I made treasured friends and some I made from writing letters on behalf of the FDNY...we linked forces on the computer. At points I felt so tired and drained and my new friends helped to recharged my spirit!!!!!!!!!!! I made uplifting art and wrote a piece "Kisses from the edge/The WTC" which you can find on my website. My jacket with patches -- from firemen that rushed down there Sept. 11 to Detectives that worked at the Morgue, to Police Chaplins from others states, patches and pin from other Countries that came by to help. I have an American Flag from a crane operator -- he told me the flag was on his crane all day and he wanted me to have it. I have a Mohawk American Indian Flag from one of Michael who came down to help with recovery and also stood on the highway with us. I also have a hat from the carpenters with a memorial sticker for their guys and signatures too. I also donated art to raise money for the Twin Tower's fund. I have a long red dress that I wore to the fund raiser with poetry and writing dedicated to all of us for being the best part of humanity at the darkest moment and a poem dedicated to the FireFighters and their families for being our Great Nation's Beacons of Resilience. I was one of many people that obssessively volunteer and I feel for the people that were unable to have the opportunity to. I visited the morgue to say hi to the Detectives that were doing amazingly dedicated work there. I also returned to NYU Medical Center and worked on a 9-11 archive of volunteers for them. I wrote passionate letters on behalf our FireFighters for their right to dig downtown and to ask for them to be freed when they were arrested. I painted a sign ?Free our FireFighters, NYC Heart and Soul? and I held it up on the highway and I remember running over to Pat Brown?s Firehouse...I had a low self esteem moment and left the sloppily painted but passionate sign on the ground against the bench, Pat Brown?s Firehouse, Ladder 3. When I walked by the next day it was sitting on the bench. The passionately painted sign sat there for weeks.(a photograph of my sign on Pat's Bench,Ladder 3 is under my artist statement at www.suzannahbtroy.co). This is another treasured memory. I made treasured friends from writing those letters too. At points I felt so tired and drained and they recharged my spirit!!!!!!!!!!!(Also pictured on my site -- you can find it under my artist statement with a picture of Pat Brown and his brothers performing a daring rescue and at the bottom of the page a thank you to all those who encouraged and helped me to keep going.) I made uplifting art and wrote a piece "kisses from the edge/the WTC" which you can find on my website. I have a jacket with patches -- from firemen that rushed down there Sept. 11 to Detectives that worked at the Morgue, to Police Chaplins from others states, patches and pin from other Countries that came by to help. I have an American Flag from a crane operator -- he told me the flag was on his crane all day and he wanted me to have it. I have a Mohawk American Indian Flag from one of Michael who came down to help with recovery and also stood on the highway with us. I also have a hat from the carpenters with a memorial sticker for their guys and signatures too. I also donated art to raise money for the Twin Tower's fund. I have a long red dress that I wore to the fund raiser with poetry and writing dedicated to all of us for being the best part of humanity at the darkest moment and a poem dedicated to the FireFighters and their families for being our Great Nation's Beacons of Resilience. I was surprised to have received six messages, which was a "shock" because I thought it was in reguards to my mom who is up there in years. When I heard them telling me to turn on the TV, I couldn't understand why.. I did of course and just starred at my big screen tv in amazement. I thought to myself this had to be a movie.. it was NOT possible that something of this great magnetude could be happening in this GREAT country of ours. But to my dismay it did happen.. and I kept saying over and over again.. "OH MY GOD" and then the tears started to flow..and I was in a state of SHOCK and PANIC.. Thinking what would happen next? A heart that said this can not be real.Sudden silence filled our normally loud home.Not only had this disaster impacked thousands of people I did not know, it changed the lives of our children forever.Our newest son turned 10 that day and this impact on him will live on year after year.Although we did not lose anyone that we knew there,our boy lost another sence of safety & happyness. Anyway, on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, I was at a retreat in a really tony conference center in Westchester. We were having a presentation on something ? maybe ethics for young lawyers, or something like that ? when a friend of mine came in and said one of the towers had fallen. We'd heard at breakfast that a plane had hit one of the towers, but we assumed it was some tiny commuter plane ? a tragedy, not a disaster. But she was telling us that it was worse, and she was crying. Suddenly everyone was on the phone ? the firm's main office is in NYC, so most of the people there lived in or near the city. I tried to call my husband, but couldn't get a signal, so I walked out of the complex up to the road. Even when I got a signal, I couldn't get through. A couple of the other people there were also from the DC office. We decided to drive back. We called around to try to rent a car. The first few places I called wouldn't rent for a one-way trip. The next place I called asked if I wanted a round trip. "Yes," I said, which I consider the most justified lie I ever told. (Later in the day, the car rental places revised their policies, and I don't think there was a penalty when we returned the car in DC, but at that point in the day people had not integrated the shock with the rest of life.) We went to get the car. On the radio, we heard a report that a bomb had gone off a few blocks from the Supreme Court. The apartment my husband and I were living in was a few blocks from the Supreme Court. I still couldn't get through to him. I knew, I knew that the chances he was hurt were small. And I knew that when we didn't hear that report again as the minutes and hours went by that it was probably a mistake, but we never heard it retracted. I'm a yellow-dog Democrat, but I will always be grateful to Rudy Giuliani for what he did that day. He spoke on the radio, and he said that he didn't know how bad it was, but that it was bad, and he was strong and devastated and forthright. He showed that it was possible to be all those things together. We couldn't see much as we passed the city, just a big column of smoke. I never paid much attention to the skyline of NYC before, so I don't even have a sense of how it changed. The roads were almost empty. I remember passing a caravan of ambulances on the New Jersey Turnpike ? they were heading the other way, towards the city. Each one had different markings, because each one was from a different little New Jersey town, but they were all going together to give what help they could. Even then, we were getting a sense that they weren't going to be able to do much, but they were going. I cry every time I think of that caravan; I'm crying now. Eventually, we stopped at one of the Maryland rest centers. There was a woman there who hadn't had her radio on as she drove for hours and hours, and the other people there were trying to explain to her what had happened. It still seemed so unbelievable. I reached my husband, and confirmed that he was all right. We had trouble getting close enough to the Metro to drop me off because of roadblocks (one of the other lawyers took the car to drive the rest of the way home). But I did make it home. I found out that my secretary had told my mother that I was "in New York," not specifying, so she was quite upset for a while. Did I suffer? Obviously not, not in the way that so many people did ? and are right now. But it changed me. One of my law school classmates, a big brawny guy, was outside the Trade Center when it happened. A fireman came by and basically started collecting anybody who looked strong to come inside and help. They were heading towards the site when the first tower fell, so they didn't go inside. A few minutes later and things would have been different. Some of the lawyers I worked most closely with were taking a deposition that morning, at Rockefeller Center. The deposition ends abruptly, with a note that the building was evacuated. We used that transcript a lot during the litigation. The next day, I went to work, because I desperately needed something to do. The partner in charge of the case ? the same case the deposition was for -- wanted us all working; one of the other lawyers was disgusted at what he saw as insensitivity. For me, it was a lifeline, a way to keep from sitting and crying. Not too long ago, I got lost, as I often do, and I drove back to the area around the Capitol, because I knew I could find my way home once I was there. But there were all sorts of unexpected roadblocks, and policemen stopping cars and looking inside with flashlights. I drove past the Supreme Court and I couldn't see it. They're building these walls, you see, to make the building safer. But making it safer means taking it away from us, taking away equal justice under law and replacing it with high white walls. I cried most of the way home for this second loss. (Really you'll still be able to see most of it when they're done. But not the lawn where local dogs used to frolic and where we built the Snow-preme Court, with a bow tie for snow-Justice Stevens and a red hairbow for snow-Justice Ginsburg, not the beautiful architecture of the building's sides, and anyway it's the symbol of justice walled away that really kills me.) Tell us your story: I was sitting in a carpark waiting to collect my wife for lunch(Ireland is 5 hours ahead of New York) The radio station I was listening to was interupted the radioshow with a newsflash saying there were unconfirmed reports a plane had hit one of the towers. I'm 30 and had visited WTC for the first time when I was 13 - I loved WTC, as a kid I was mesmorized by the buildings - the plaza, the vast lobbies and the lifts... I was amazed the lifts could move at 25mph(I was a kid and easily fascinated by stuff like that!!!, I remember the view from the top - I though you could see forever. As I sat in the car that Tuesday when I heard the news I knew something horrible was going to unfold. I lost my appetite for lunch and we decided to go home to watch events unfold on CNN. We got home just in time to witness the horrific image of the first tower coming down. I immediately though of the elevator operator who told us the speed the elevators travel at... to this day I wonder did he make it... so many people lost, so many people's lives wasted... My wife and I sat for hours glued to the tv not believing what was happened to a city we love very much. Just to let the citizens of New York know that over here in Ireland, we were all horrifed and shocked by 9/11, maybe we feel more affected because so many Irish people have immigrated to New York. Tell us your story: A co-worker of mine Henrietta Green ran into the office and turned on the small TV, she then called my name (Sheila Martin)and told me to come look. The news was showing the New York Trade Center where the first Plane had hit. Within second we saw another plane come into view and it hit the second building of the Trade Center. We were in shock. Then the new cut to Washington, DC and they showed the plane hitting the Pentagon. Henrietta and I began to gather our personal belongs and ran out the building to go home. We were very frighten by what we had just saw on the TV and what happen to the Pentagon. It was just to close to our building for us to stay. When I got home my son me why I was home so early I told him to watch the New with me and to show him what had happen. I continue to watch the new coverage for the rest of the day. Up until late that night I kept calling my sister because her best friend work at the Pentagon and we had not hear from her. It was very hard for me to sleep that night seeing the things that happen in New York and Washington, DC. That night I got down on my knees and pray for everybody in New York and Washington. The next day at work I found out that a co-worker in my office lost her husband at the Pentagon. It was very sad in the office the whole day because no one was able to get in touch with the co-worker to see if she was OK. Henrietta and I came in the next day to work and closed out the payroll for the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and made sure that the people in New York who worked for The Department of HUD got paid. I heard about a plane crashing into the World Trade Center and thought what a terrible accident that must have been. When I got to work, I heard that a second plane had crashed into the building. At first I thought it was a strange coincidence, then realized that it was not. As I listened to the news on the radio, I learned that the planes full of innocent people were used as weapons to hit the building. I listened in horror and amazement. One of the men at work had a television, and I was glued to it as I watched the second plane fly into the building over and over again on the news replays. I cried, not caring that I was at work with my colleagues. As the morning progressed, all I wanted to do was go home and hug my children. Their day care owner called me at work and said the center was closing for the rest of the day due to concerns about their proximity to Orlando's goverment buildings and possible further terrorist activities. I was relieved to get them home. I could not watch any news coverage at home because I did not want my two boys to see the terrible events that they were too young to understand. I had to wait until the kids went to bed before I could catch up with the day's tragic events. I did not sleep well that night or many nights after that. I don't think my life will ever be the same again. I long for the carefree, secure atmosphere that I had just a short year ago. I long for a world in which my boys will grow up innocent, happy and safe. I long for peace in the world. But when the Pentagon got hit by a plane, I realuzed that this waas no accident. Then I found out that Twin Towers fell and thats when I began to think that we were under attack. What boggled my mind was who was crazy enough to do such a thing? All day I watched coverage about that horrifrying day. I just watched. I had to be up to at least midnight just watching in misbelive. It changed my life by realizing that our country can come together. I will never forget that day, and in the words of President Roosevelt, "A date that will live in infamy". Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: On 9-11-2001 I was sitting at home and my husband was working in Fort Campbell, Kentucky building army barracks. I worked as a deputy jailer at Crittenden County Jail in Marion, Kentucky. I was relaxing and just watching television and all of a sudden they started flashing the news about the World Trade Center and showing the first plane that crashed. I was immediately concerned for my husband because of the kind of work that he done and the location of where he was at that time. As I watched, I remember a feeling of traumatic sadness for the families that had lost their loved ones and the ones that didn't know for sure where their loved ones were. Now, on the anniversary of a year since the nation was upset so dramatically, I feel the loss even more for those people who lost their loved ones because on August 17th, 2002, I too lost my husband of almost 25 years. He and I were with friends in a boat on a Saturday afternoon to just get out of the house and he accidentally drowned. I know the suffering of loss. As the tears well up in my eyes, I too can only pray for some kind of peace in the lives of all of us. This peace can only come from GOD. We must be a nation that will turn to GOD not only in our times of need but on a daily basis for his guidance in our lives. Without GOD in our lives we are nothing. With GOD we have a friend that walks beside us through the trying times as well as the good times. It was definitely a historical landmark, but to me it began as just another Tuesday. I woke up 6:15 a.m. and like every other morning I sat on my bed for an ample amount of time until my exhausted body began the wake-up process. I took a shower, brushed my teeth, and got dressed, as I routinely did. I ate my breakfast and exchanged goodbyes with my family as we all headed out of the house. A sophomore at Oakton High School, at the time, I arrived at 7 a.m. to hang out with my friends before we all headed to class. Our first class was over at 9:05, we had a fifteen-minute break period, and then the second-class bell rang. I remember walking into my world history class and sitting in my seat. In fact, Nicole and I were in the same class, and ironically, our teacher began the discussion of conflicts in the world. We began discussing religious struggles, and the loud speaker came on in the classroom. It was our principal and he was informing us of what had occurred, he said, ?I have an unsettling announcement for the faculty and student body and it should be handled with serious precaution.? He continued to inform us that two planes were hijacked and flown into the World Trade Center. Our teacher then turned the television on and m oments later, we were informed that Flight 77 had hit the West Wing of the Pentagon. Everyone in the classroom had a frantic look on their face as a silence fell upon the room. I became very apprehensive as I tried reaching my parents and every time I did, the telephone lines were busy or disconnected. I continued to watch the television in awe and it had sunk in, I knew then that what had happened wasn?t unintentional; rather it was a violent attack on our nation, to challenge the nations unity. September 11, 2001 began as an ordinary Tuesday for me, however, by the end of the day, with thousands of lives lost, families divided, many wounded, patriotism and freedom in our country changed forever, and our country continues to stand united in the face of terrorists. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: On September 11th, 2001 I was talking to one of my friends in the hall, at school. She was telling me about how in Global class she watched a plane hit the World Trade Towers, she thought that it was just a clip from a movie or something. At first I thought she was just messing around because that week in Global we were learning about Afghanistan. She told me that it wasn?t a joke and she was serious. It didn?t really hit me until after a few classes. In every class I went to, everyone just watched the news. I could hear people screaming and could see people running all over the place to get away from the buildings. I watched people jump out of the building to escape the burning blaze, and later witnessed the buildings collapse. It really affected me when you could hear people calling their families to say that they loved them and goodbye. Our nation really came together to help and aid people affected. I couldn?t believe how people trapped in the rubble could call for help on their cell phones for the police or their families. It was also terrible to see the Pentagon. You could see the floor of the building. The wall was torn right off and part of it was crushed. There was smoke flowing out of the Pentagon like water flowing in a river. When the news announced that a plane crashed in Somerset, Pennsylvania. People became very strange at first but then realized that it was Pennsylvania, not Somerset, New York, where we live. Everyone was still very upset with all the innocent people dying. I heard that this plane was headed to the White House but ended up in Somerset, Pennsylvania. I think that it is better that the plane ended up in Somerset than hitting the White House, but either way I feel very bad for the friends and families of these people. By not hitting the White House, no more innocent people died. In the days following the attack the United States was really brought together. Every where I went there were flags in front of peoples homes and on their cars. You couldn?t even find a flag in a store because they were in such high demand. Also on the news I saw people that went to the twin towers to help look for people and clean up the disaster. People went to New York City hospitals to help care for the hundreds of injured people. I feel that it is good that we were able to come together as a nation to help others in a time of need. In the days following September 11th the United States government thought that the terrorist attacks were caused by Osama bin Ladin. At that point the United States decided to get Osama bin Ladin for what he did to the U.S. In other Middle East countries I saw little kids on the news happy and running around because of the attacks on the United States. This made me feel very upset because people were happy from the deaths of hundreds of people. September 11th was a terrible day in our country?s history that will be remembered forever. We as a nation worked together to get through these hard times and now we are stronger than before because, we know that as a nation we can get through anything.
