Tell us your story: I was in my spanish 3 class for about fifteen minutes and a kid who travels between schools to get different courses come into ours and says "The World Trade Center has been bombed!" Everybody in the classroom is getting real antsy now and we ask to see whats on the TV. My spanish teacher ignores us and leaves the room to call her husband, because evidentally he is a pilot. So when the teacher leaves we're all going crazy with questions. "Who did it, are we at war, who would go to war with us?" So after what seemed like forever our teacher comes back and we finish up our class work REAL fast and turn on the TV to see a nerving and depressing sight. Tell us your story: As soon as I walked into my third period Geometry class, I saw Will in the corner of my eye drawing on the board and explaining what had happened that morning in New York. I was clueless. "What was he talking about? Surely, nothing like this could happen in reality!", I said to myself. Students were busily talking to each other trying to grasp information on the terrorism attacks and also not giving heed to the fact that we had a Geometry test that period. All worries of the test were thrown out when we realized that this information was a reality. Soon after the comotion settled down, we all began taking the Geometry test. All I could think about throughout the test was the terrorism attacks. Soon after, third period was over, and my mind was baffled from all the thoughts spinning hastily in my head. Not long after fourth period had started, our principal came over the intercom explaining to us what had happened. Never had the class been so attentive to what he was saying over the intercom. He told us not to panic and to continue with our classes as we would on any regular school day. I was overwhelmed throughout the day. It definitely was not just any regular school day. The class clowns seemed silent and the only conversations spoken were ones of the tragedy that had happened that morning. All around, I saw the dissapointed faces of the Junior Varsity football players, whose game had been postponed because of the tragedy. It wasn't until I arrived home and turned on the television that I realized the severity of the situation. Watching the news was just like watching an action film. "It's like something out of a movie!", I told my brother as we carefully watched. I had later tuned into the president to listen to his comforting words to the U.S. I listened to him attentively as he told the nation not to panic and let this change our U.S.A., but to unite as one, strong nation. September 11, though a horrible experience and tragic mark in our history, was also a mass uniting of our great nation, the United States of America. Tell us your story: It was the day of September 11th 2001, I was in the hallway of the Highschool I go to, on my way to forth hour when my boyfriend told me the twin towers just went down. At the time I had never heard fof the twin towers. So I got into my history class aka forth hour and watched the whole thing happen in front of my eyes on the television set. Every chaneel had it on, they couldnt stop talking about it. They said that all the airports and everything was shut down. It scared me because at the time my mother was supoed to be on a plane coming back from L.A. Later that night my mother called me and said that she was going to driving back with some friends, and at that moment I had a strong relief that my mom was going to be ok. All I had was the comfort of my friends and the peolpe in the school comforting each other. But form that day on no one would stop talking about it so this moment in time will allways be remembered, because of how scared I was that I was going to left all alone in the world. It was just another bus evacuation drill. Everyone was sitting down and talking. There was a delay for some reason and they wouldn't tell us why. The bus driver came on the bus, holding the radio piece in his ear. He then told us what had happened and said that they didnt know why two planes had flown into The World Trade Center Buildings. The teachers would not turn on the TV's, so I had to sit and worry in school for almost four hours. When I got home I had many questions on my mind. Who, what, and why? Even watching the news for a couple of hours didn't answer these questions. No one really seemed to know these answers fpr everyone was in shock. I will never forget that day for the rest of my life. My life has changed many ways since September 11th. I now have learned not to take people or things for granted. I've learned to have a greater appreciation for things and to be a little more patient. My life has changed a little bit in a bad way too. I tned to jump to conclusions more often. Immediately after something bad happens, I think "terrorists" or "Al-Queda". My life has changed many ways since September 11th, mostly for the btter. I think we should remember all the people who lost their lives from the September 11th attacks and also all the people who knew someone who passed on September 11th. We should remember that we need to stop terrorists, domestic or foriegn. also we need to learn from this tradegy amd make sure it will never happen again. A boy in my class had told us at the being of the hour that planes crashed into the World Trade Centers. We all laughed at him because he was known for making trouble. I then went to math and my teacher brought us down to someone's elses class. I then saw alot of people sitting there watching TV. I looked at the TV to see what was going on and i saw the first towers burning. I watched stunned for a little while and then the second plane came. I sat there wondering what is this, did it happen years ago. I then saw it was dated September 11, 2001 and I knew it didn't happen years ago. I then thought it's a movie but so life like. I sat there and my best friend turned around and saw, she was scared, I looked around and saw people praying and then I knew it was real. I sat there crying in front of my classmates and some of them comforted me asking if there was some of family in there and I don't know! My grandma was catching a flight from Virgina to Louisiana and i was scared she might be on one of the planes. I later found out she wasn't! We then heard of the Pentatgon. We were all scared. It brought us back to the towers and thats when we firts saw people jumping. They closed up on one person and my friend sitting next started screaming. She said it looked like her mom. Her mom worked int he towers at one of the very top floors. My friend later called her dad and he told her that her mother had died. Her mother had been one of the jumpers but we didn't know for sure if it was the person we saw. In the rest of classes we watched the TV and for the rest of the weeks we donated money, stories, and pray to the people that lost loved ones or that were still working to get the people out. We did patrotic things for the rest of the year. Almost a year later of I realized he gave us freewill but that asnwer wasn't enough for me so I kept thinking. I then thougth God might have not thoguth of this happening but it did and we showed him that we have love, forgiveness, pity, and enough to sacrafice our lives and others things. I also realized without suffering there can't be compasion, without love there can't be sacrafice and forgiveness, and without tragedy ther can't be unity! Tell us your story: I was sitting at work when my daughter called to tell me that the both buildings of the World Trade Center had been attacked and were burning. I can not even begin to explain the shock that I felt or the horror. I have been at the World Trade Center and I have stayed at the Marriott that was attached to the World Trade Center. I got up from my desk to look for other people to be with and to see if they heard the terrible news also. After standing around for awhile talking I went back to my desk and since I did not have a radio I borrowed my friend's radio who was off that day. When I turned it on I heard that the World Trade Centers were starting to fall and that their was a plane missing over Pittsburgh. My son flies almost every week and I did not know where he was. We were all told to go home and when I went out into the street it was obvious that everyone was being sent home. It was a mad house since the buses were still on off hours there were none around. One of my co-workers was with me and I suggested that we go down to the first stop and get the bus. She suggested that we get the first bus that comes even though we may have to walk a little distance to get home. We got the first bus that came and it was packed when it finished picking up the passangers at our stop. When I got on the bus I sat next to a young lady who had just come into town but was going back home as she had just heard the news. She told me that she had a sister that worked in New York and she wanted to be home with her family hoping to hear from her sister. My heart went out to her since I know how I felt wondering where my son was. By the time the bus got to the second stop it was to crowded to take anymore passengers but the people at the bus stop were yelling that there was an elderly woman and to please pick her up. The bus driver opened the door and let the elderly woman on the bus. As she was getting on she fell and cut herself. The young lady sitting next to me gave up her seat to the women. The women was bleeding from her fall and we tried to help her as best we could. When I got off the bus I had about a mile walk to my house. What I remember most about that walk was looking at the sky and thinking what a beautiful day it was and how could something so horrible happen on such a beautiful day. When I got home my answering machine was blinking and it was a message from my son. He had been on his way to the airport to go to Reagan National Airport when he heard the news. The trip obviously was cancelled so he was safe and sound in Pittsburgh. It turned out he was worried about me because he knew that I was supposed to be going to New Jersey on a business trip and was worried that something may have happened to me. I thanked God that my son was safe and shed tears for all those who had lost ones that they loved. After I called back my son and then my daughter to assure her that her brother was safe I spent the rest of the day the same as most Americans did sitting in my livingroom watching the horrible tradegy unfold. Tell us your story: I got a call to turn on my TV. which I was already watching, I was a bit sleepy but I had already heard that a plane had hit the WTC. As I watched the TV I noticed a plane circling around the WTC building and I said to myself why are they letting that plane get so close and then it slam into the other tower, as I looked out of my window I could hear a plane flying very low when I looked up I could see the plane it was passing over us so fast the whole building shook we thought it was going to crash in our building next thing we heard that a plane had crashed in Pa. As I stood there watching on television I said I need to call my son because he took the train into the city of N.Y. and his stop was the world trade building. I started sobbing uncontrollably but couldn't understand why I also felt so anxious it was wierd, about an hour later I finally reached my son he told me he was in the subway when the plane hit he made his way up to the lobby of the WTC buildingand there were people trapped and frantic he said he could not leave them there so he started pullin people out and leading them out of the building he ended up saving 11 people they were the sameones who were in the subway with him he said he told them to follow him. I heard no more from him until he reached the ferry that connects you with Staten Island. He then broke down and started crying and saying mom you would be proud of me I saved some lives and all I want to do now is go see my wife at work. he went straight to the hospital she worked at, I found out later that he was so traumatized that he no longer could speak they gave him medical treatment he was covered in dust and he had absorbed a lot in his lungs. He now suffer from the dust, he was a very health young man and always took good care of himself, he now suffer sinus like systems and must use a pump he must be very careful about colds because it can very well go into pnuemonia, he has permanent damage to his lungs. I thank God he spared my child and ou lives will never be the same, he later told me he watched the whole thing of the buildings coming down and people jumping out of windows, body parts hitting you while you are running away. I was not able to handle this for quite some time , I found myself crying all the time seeing my son's body laying somewhere or I he would never be found. It took prayer and a lot of faith in God to get me throught it I could not stand to hear anyone talk about it or see it, but now I am able to handle it. Tell us your story: My wife and I had just dropped off our 6 month old son for his first day of daycare at the daycare center in my office building in Pearl River, NY. My wife took the day off from work in case she needed to pick him up early and was on her way home. I had just arrived upstairs at my office on the 15th floor. Just as I was approaching my office, my assistant turned in her chair to tell me something as my cell phone rang on my belt clip. I motioned to my assistant to hold the thought and answered the call from my wife who told me what she heard on the radio in the car on the way home. "An airplane hit the twin towers..." she said. "Do we know anyone that's there?". "Cesar, Vince, Janet... damn I know so many people there. Which tower was hit?" I asked. Three years earlier I worked in the Information Technology Department of Marsh & McLennan, Inc. After a merger, our department went to hell and I took a job an investment firm in Midtown. A decision that ultimately might have saved my life. Everyone that worked in the Information Technology Department that was in the office when that first plane hit was destined to die. Back at the office I struggled with my feelings while trying to stay in control for my department's sake. When the 2nd plane hit, I began making moves to have everyone sent home. When word came that the Pentagon was hit, I dismissed my staff immediately to return home to their families which was the only place anyone wanted to be at that time. Safe or not, people want to be with their families when terror strikes. After leaving, I rushed to pick up my son at the day care center before our building was hit. As much of an impossibility it seemed (being over 20 miles from NYC) anything seemed possible at that time. Driving home, you saw people driving erratically, swerving, running red lights, doing anything to get home quickly. Listening to the radio and crying. It was terrible. And here I was with my son who was barely over the excitement of his first hour of daycare. It was so terrible. I arrived home to my wife whose eyes were bloodshot from crying. She was on the phone but hung up quickly to tell me "One of towers collapsed!". "Completely collapsed?" I asked in disbelief. I would have the gruesome opportunity to watch it replayed several times over the next 20 minutes or so. They replayed it so many times that the live shot of the 2nd tower coming down went completely unnoticed until Tom Brokaw actually said "... and there you see the 2nd tower coming down. Both towers are now gone.". His voice was eerily calm as he reported on this catastrophe. I'll never forget that day. The next few months were filled with memorial services and distraught family members of those that I knew and loved. It's been a year now, but I know for sure I will never see life the same as I saw it before. As much as people say the terrorists did not win, they did accomplish one task. It was a time when there were no worries. People, along with myself, felt safe. I was able to walk the streets and not worry about something happening to me. The morning it happened was like everyother day. I got through first period with a nice little nap. It wasn?t until later when everything went wrong. I was walking through the halls talking to some friends when one of them said something that caught me off-guard. He was talking about one of the football moms and how she had two friends die in planes that hit the world trade centers. I didn?t believe it and just went on to my next class. In the middle of class my teacher told us to head into one of the other classrooms as we walked in we saw footage of the first tower. As we watched we saw the second plane hit and both towers collapse. We watched in every class for the rest of the day. The events of that day changed my life. I was now more patriotic then ever. Hearing the national anthem before football games brings tears to my eyes. When I got home I was relieved to see my dad. He worked at the Pentagon and after this I respected him more. Tell us your story: I was just out of the shower, running late, when Good Morning America went into a commercial, then seconds later came back with a bulletin. I knew something was wrong, because they don't do that unless it's something very important. I heard them talking about about an explosion in Manhattan and was watching when the second jet hit the WTC. I just stood there, seeing what had happened but not fully understanding the impact. I couldn't move - I just sat on the bed and watched for a good half-hour before coming to work. No one knew what had happened, as the rest of the staff comes in earlier than I do. We got a small TV hooked up to an antenna and watched what we could. I am publisher of a small weekly newspaper and we had time to get come coverage in that week's issue, as hard as it was. Sept. 11 is the birthday of one of our employees and it only dawned on us this week that she had no cake, no card, no good wishes. We won't forget this year. I have a good friend in Brooklyn and first checked with her. Her son was a student at Stuyvesant High School, in the shadows of the WTC buildings, and he escaped the area, but they were separated for several days. He was fine and made it home, but I can only imagine her fear and worry, which was only a fraction of what many others must have felt. Being from a rural Southern town, I didn't think I would be as affected, but I have been. Dena Birchfield, whose husband was on one of the planes, is from this area and many of us felt a link there; and none of us feels the same way when we fly, but I do what I did before 9-11 as much as possible. It still hurts, and it will hurt next week, but I think we have learned a lot about ourselves, hopefully enough that we never forget. It doesn't matter if you are from Manhattan in Kansas or New York, or Miami in Ohio or Florida; we are all part of a whole that was damaged and is still trying to heal. I had taken some temporary jobs to earn a little extra money to get ready for the baby. So I was sitting in work - in small office near the kitchen. I remember hearing a lot of people going in and out of the kitchen that morning talking - so I got up from my desk and asked one of the people what was going on. He said to me - Didn't you hear - a plane just crashed into the World Trade Center. I just stood there in complete shock - I couldn't believe what I was hearing and I just knew something was terribly wrong - that there was something more to it than a plane having a malfunction. I immediately rushed back to my office and went online and then called my mother. Then the other plane hit and my fear grew even more. All I could think about was my child. I stayed online all day in horror - not believing what I was hearing - I was in complete shock. The Trade Center - The Pentagon and the plane in Pennsylvania. When I left work that day all I could do was look up at the sky and wonder what was next. I went home watched the news and cried. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I was actually up in the air on a Delta flight from Atlanta when the terrorist attacks occurred. Our pilot waited to tell us until after our plane landed in Dallas ,Texas in order to announce to us that ?all air traffic was grounded because of terrorist attacks invloving airplanes against our nation?s capitol and the World Trade Center.? It was a very surreal moment. No one said a word. Everyone was in shock...half believing it was a some sick joke or something. I, being 24, was in total disbelief . An attack on our home soil? Our safety was something I never doubted up until that moment... something that I had always taken for granted without a thought. We all exited the plane in silence and walked into the Dallas airport...a scene of commotion and confusion. Almost everyone had a cell phone up to their ear. T.V?s blared with live coverage of the crash scenes. People were crying and hugging one another. Luggage was everywhere. All those flights that were meant to go on to other destinations were stranded, so the amount of luggage there was overwhelming. There was nowhere for the workers to put it all except on the floor everywhere. People were literally stepping over luggage that was randomly thrown all together on the floor throughout the airport. No one had the full story yet and the fact that I was all alone stranded in a strange city when our country was under attack was scary. What was going to be next the next target? A man behind me at one point said that there was another flight still up in the air that was believed to be hijacked. How frightening that we?d just been on a flight up in the air and it could have been any one of our flights involved. The fact that all of the victims and I had very similar lives that day...getting up early, getting ready for a morning flight, packing, heading to the airport, boarding a plane and taking off?made me put myself in their shoes and vividly feel what it must have been like to then learn that your plane has been hijacked. I started crying thinking about the terror the people on the hijacked planes must have felt and how they died for no reason except pure evil and irrational hate. I was stranded in Dallas for about two and a half days until I finally decided to take a 18 hour Greyhound bus ride to my original destination...Tucson, Arizona. What a horrible day for our nation. Let this forever make us value our liberty and freedom that our country fought and still fights for us to have. He woke me up and told me to bring my blanket to the living room and watch the news. I said why then he said, "Something really bad has happen to New York city." Therefore, as were watching the news the first trade center building was hit. Then out from the bloom you see the second plan crash right into the second trade center. As I am watching, you could see people jumping out from the tower and in my head; all I was thinking is that I hope everyone gets out alive and safe. Watching the TV I see people in New York just watching and a lot of their mouth is open and sock of this happening. Then all of a sudden, I see the second building just clasping like its nothing and then people starts running like crazy to get away from the fall of the building. A few minute after that you see the first building that was hit finally, start to fall down. By now, I was scared and crying. An hour after that my boyfriends mom came home from work cause she worked with the government so they order all the government workers to go home right away. I was so afraid and bagged my boyfriend not to go to work because I still want to see him. Scared and worried about my family and my unborn son is this the end of the world. I am still scared tell this day and get nightmares of 911 and how things were and what was going on that day. Just to know that everyone of our lives was at stake and we were not safe as if we thought we all were here at our own home. In addition to our weekly broadcasts of Music and the Spoken Word, we occasionally do special performances when conventions are in town. Patriotic songs such as The Battle Hymn of the Republic, America the Beautiful, and God Bless America are always audience favorites at these concerts. On the evening of Sept. 11, 2001, we were scheduled to perform for thousands of financial advisers who were meeting in Salt Lake City. The date of Sept. 11th had been marked on our calendars for some time, and we had been looking forward to it. Little did we know how significant that date would become in our nation's history. That night we gathered in the Tabernacle, numbed by the day's events. We were told that some in the audience had been personally affected by the tragedy, and many were worried about loved ones, friends, and business associates who were in the World Trade Center that day. Wise leaders dropped some of the lighter tunes from our concert program to make it less a concert than a prayer service and memorial to the fallen. But one patriotic song seemed especially poignant, even necessary, on that occasion. "God bless America," we sang, "land that I love." Thousands of Americans, brought together by fate from every part of the nation, shed many tears that night--tears of pain for our country, and sorrow for the many lives lost. But we also shed tears of joy, for we knew that the familiar refrain was true, more true now than it had ever been: We loved America. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I work in a small law firm in downtown Washington, DC, about two blocks from the White House. At approximately 9:00 am on September 11, 2001, I was at work when I first heard something about a 'helicopter' crash. Then, I heard something about a 'small plane' crashing into the World Trade Center. Then, panic gripped our office as more accurate details of what had happened in New York City came in. We learned, finally, that both building had been hit by commercial airliners, and that this was obviously more than an accident. At one point, while speaking with my wife, Jessica, on the phone, she heard an a loud noise that she couldn't account for, but didn't immediately mention it to me. It was the sound of a plane hitting the Pentagon. As we learned about the collapse of the WTC buildings, and rumors swirled about planes heading toward D.C. and bombs going off around the city, our office closed for the day, and everyone attempted to go home. With cell phones out of service, thousands of people milling around of sidewalks, streets around the White House being closed by Secret Service agents, the Metro closed and taxis unavailable, it seemed that the city was completely paralyzed, and I was not sure how to get out. Finally, the Metro re-opened long enough for me to get across the Potomac to the Pentagon. Then, the Metro closed again, and we were forced to take a bus, which took a long time to arrive. Meanwhile, we could see the sky filled with smoke from the plane crash at the Pentagon. After the bus came and crawled down the street taking hours to go a few feet, I got off the bus, walked for a couple of miles, found a taxi, took it part of the way, got back on the train, got back to my car, and drove home. The odyssey took 6 hours from the time of the first news about the terrorist attacks, when the trip normally took one hour. My wife and son were very glad to see me, and I, them. We thank God for the actions of those aboard the United flight that went down over Pennsylvania, possibly sparing the lives of many in D.C., including my own. The horror of the moment, the courage of so many, and the grace of God exhibited on September 11 will always be with me. Osama bin Laden's movement is satanic, but out of such evil came such noble and heroic conduct on the part of many in our country. To the extent that America has become more of police state since that day, I am sad. It was hard for us to sleep for a long time afterwards. The world has changed before and will do so again, but the change that we experienced on September 11 was profound. May God be glorified in all of these things. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I was at work in our offices in Washington, DC at 1100 New York Ave, on the 8th floor. I'm an attorney at a patent law firm and our offices are in a building that is a few blocks east of the White House. A co-worker said that a plane had flown into the World Trade Center. On my office computer, I went to www.cnn.com and there was a picture of the first tower with a lot of smoke coming out of it. Then we heard that the second WTC tower had been hit. Many of us went to watch the tv coverage in the multipurpose room. As I walked out of the room I mentioned that I could not believe that the towers were still standing and that the engineers should be really proud that the towers took a hit like that and were still standing. However, very shortly after that, they fell. Another lawyer said to me that he had been speaking with an examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in Crystal City, VA, (just south of the Pentagon) and that examiner had said, "There's an awul lot of smoke coming out of the Pentagon." Another person came into my office and said that people were literally running out of the White House. People started to leave our office to try and make their way home. There really wasn't any panic. However, the roads and bridges into Virginia were mostly blocked with traffic and other routes were very slow. Many of the people in our office who lived in Virginia and drove just stayed put. One of the ladies in our docketing department had four daughters who worked at the Pentagon. She was naturally quite worried. One of her daughters then called to tell her that three of them were safe but that they had not yet heard from the fourth daughter. (It was later learned that the fourth daughter was safe too.) The traffic on the street outside our offices seemed to be at gridlock or at least very slow. We are very close to the Metro Center metro stop. That metro stop stayed open the entire day. However, the police had blocked off H Street and 11th Steet to the east of us and would not let any traffic on that part of H Street - no one could walk through that area to the Chinatown Metro Station; they had to go underground and take the train there. I take the metro subway train into work. I stayed in the office until about noon. I wanted to wait until the main rush out of the city was over and also I wanted to make sure that everyone who needed a ride had a way home. I closed the doors of those offices that were empty to help protect the hallways from flying glass in case there was an explosion outside. I remember being very surprised that the D.C. Metro subway trains kept running the entire morning. The train was not packed like I expected it to be; it looked like a normal day. Metro changed the train stops however, and did not stop at the Pentagon station or at Union Station (where the Amtrak trains connect). I take the Metro Red Line from Metro Center to Glenmont, Maryland, about 15 miles norht of D.C. The Metro train engineers who ran the trains underground that whole morning are some of the bravest people I know. I was very grateful when we came above ground safely. There was no panic or outward emotion in the train station or trains. People were very quiet. Driving home from the train station, I remember the news report on the car radio saying that the authorities could not account for four planes. As I drove home from the train station, I saw a "spotter" with binoculars on the Plaza del Mercado strip mall roof at the corner of Layhill and Bel Pre Road, about 15 miles north of D.C. He was looking up with his binoculars, scanning the skies to the north and west. I am an amateur radio operator and a volunteer for a group that Montgomery County, Maryland, activates if communications are needed in times of emergency, called RACES (Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service). On Sept. 11, Montgomery County activated RACES to set up a hospital radio net that links communications among the main county hospitals; this was to faciliate communications among hospitals and the county Emergency Operations Center in case large numbers of the injured from the Pentagon were to be sent to Montgomery County. I was placed on stand by to report for a later shift - but it was soon determined that the wounded from the Pentagon were being handled by other hospitals and the net could close. I don't remember if we took the next day off from work or if we went into work. I do remember that the trains into work on the first day that I went back seemed unusually quiet. I learned that an attorney I knew, Lisa Raines, had been on the plane that flew into the Pentagon. Lisa and I had participated in the intellectual property/patent committee of the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO). Two of the people in my offices saw the plane that hit the Pentagon. The first person saw the plane as it flew east toward the Washington, as she was driving east on route 66 in Virginia. She said it seemed to be following route 66. The other person was driving on one of the highways that run in front of the Pentagon; he saw the plane just before it hit the Pentagon. I received an e-mail from a friend who works at Amgen and from whom I had not heard in years; she wrote to tell me that a friend of hers who worked with Amgen and who had been in D.C. appearing before the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) had been on the plane that hit the Pentagon; she said her friend had felt lucky to catch that early flight because it meant she could be home to California sooner than she had expected. Two of our attorneys were traveling and in Denver that day. When planes were grounded, they could not travel home. They rented a car and drove back to Virginia. Tell us your story: Hello my name is Angela Rhodes, On the morning of Sept.11th which was my 20th Birthday I awoke and went up stairs were my mother in law sat watching the news. There are not words to express what i saw that day. There are not words to express the hurt and the pain for those who where so wrongly ripped away from their loved ones. There are not words to express the fear that i felt for my family and loved ones that something might happen to them. I was also 8 Months pregnant to think that children were amoung those who died was very hard to swallow. And to those who think that because not every one was affected by this because it didn't hit close to every one your wrong.The most painfull thing for me to see on the news is everybody running away when the wtc came tumbling down, for me when i saw that, thats when the reality of what was happening hit me.This may not affect every one the same, but those who are very passionate and caring can feel the hurt in the tears that we see you cry and it's only human to cry to when you think about what it would do to you for someone so close to suddenly be completely out of reach and not be able to do anything about it. I did not lose any loved ones in this horrible act of the terrorist but i do feel pain for all those who lost a loved one. There is one thing that i would like to say in addition to my story. Tell us your story: I feel as if September 11th will always have its own special meaning to those of us who experienced watching everything as it happened in New York. The scenes that were repeatedly flashed across the television screen with every news broadcast will always be imprinted into my mind. The expressions of the pedestrians who had been there in New York City as an actual eye witness to the event, had multiple meanings behind them. There were some of confusion, shock, horror, tears, misunderstanding and failure. There were many women and men who were able to save themselves, while there were far more who lost their life in the struggle. I think the after stories are what affected me the most. I comprehended everything that had happened but when personal stories were being broadcasted across all the magazines and newspapers, they explained the details that hit home to my heart. There were stories about weddings that were never going to come true, single mothers and fathers who were now left alone to raise their children. It's sad to think of all the lives which were lost, yet it's even harder to accept the number of family members and friends that are affected by the lost of a loved one. Although I was not in New York City at the time of this event, I feel like I have seen enough from the television to remember that day for the rest of my life and pass my experience onto my children.
