Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: As I reflect back that day I can't help but think of the big question "What if?" I was to leave for NYC that day. I was setting out on my first travel assignment as an ER Nurse. I was going to do a mini New York vacation before heading to Maine for my assignment. I am plagued with thoughts of what would have happened if I would have left a day sooner or if things happened a day later. Where would I have been? What would I have done if I would have been there... in NYC? Since then I have visited all sites... WTC, Shanksville, and the Pentagon. The WTC in Decmeber of 2001 was a smoldering mess of debris that sent a stench through the streets that if I close my eyes I can still smell. When the world starts to complain and such about America's actions since then, and I find myself questioning things I close my eyes and take myself back to September 11 and my walk in NYC on December 17th. I get chills and then remember that for those people lost we MUST go to the ends of the Earth to stop anything else from ever happening again. I have dedicated myself to working with the Disaster prepardness in my hospital and the plans we would have in place if.... We drill and plan for a day that I hope never comes. But that is my way of dealing and praying that we will be ready to handle whatever the world may throw at us here in Fort Worth, Texas. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: On September 11th, 2001, I was on a layover in Burbank, CA. I am a flight attendant, and to awake to such a horrific story was overwhelming. Although five years have passed, I find that as we remember this infamous day today, September 11, 2006, that those feelings still feel "fresh", especially when recalling the horrible events of that morning. At the time this tragedy occurred, I was our chair for AFA, The Association of Flight Attendants, at Alaska Airlines for our Critical Incident Response Program (CIRP). In this role, I spent month's of follow-up with our flight attendants~~tending to their emotional needs with referrals, CIRP debriefing's and diffusings, and in some cases, crying with my peers. Our peer CIRP team reached out to our fellow crewmembers at United (same union) and American. As crew, we share feelings and fears with our peers that are sometimes difficult to explain to "civilians". To this day, I can only begin to imagine what those crews went through when they realized they were being used as "human weapons" in an aluminum tube! The devastation, the loss, and the thousands of Americans that lost loved ones can never be replaced; however, my hope would be that American would continue to show their resolve and honor those lost on 9/11 with carrying on in the courageous manner each and every man, woman, and child did that fateful morning. As I continue to put on my uniform and step on that plane, trip after trip, there is a brief moment of reflection on my part, of all four crews from 9/11. With the continued security threats made to our country, we have revamped our security protocal in the aviation airplane as we now know an enemy that we had never "met" before. With this in mind, I am honored to serve in a workforce that produced "heroes" in their own way, on the morning of September 11th, 2001. My thoughts and prayers continue to go out to every family member, friend and coworker of someone lost that day. WE WILL NEVER FORGET and will be FOREVER GRATEFUL! Reading it again now, my eyes fill with tears like it was all yesterday. My heart breaks for those so profoundly impacted by the events of September 11, 2001. ________________________________________ I just need to share this with everyone. I am having so much trouble handling all of this. Just when I think I have it together, I see or hear a story so personal, so painful, that it is all I can do keep from breaking down again. I was a Marine. I am a strong man fully capable of controlling my emotions. But this devastation is so pervasive, so incidious, so horrid that I feel like my heart cannot possibly contain it all. Yesterday, in an instant, someone's entire world was destroyed. A young man, perhaps, already missing his wife or partner, wishing the flight that took them away would hurry home. Instead, in a moment of horror, he watched his most significant other vanish in a ball of flame and debris and hate. In a flash, more than a plane disappeared. Gone was the promise to "see you soon." Gone were a million secrets shared between them... the private joke about the loud waiter... the song they danced to last weekend at that corner bar... the color they planned to paint the kitchen. Across town, a Mom sat stunned. Below her, her children played, oblivious to the thief that had slipped in and stolen their happiness. They are too young to understand, you see. But in the years to come, they will fully come to appreciate the horror of this day. The damage to their lives will be done not in a flash, but in the sadness of days to come. "Your Dad would have been so proud of you," Mom will say at every important event. And the tears will flow again, a wound as raw and jagged as the moment it was inflicted. These are just some of the thoughts that are tearing me to pieces right now. I feel so much pain, like the very fabric of our souls have begun to unravel. I know we will recover. I know we will find peace again, and happiness. Right now, though, those things seem like some impossible dream. A co-worker from up front came back to my area and announced "the world trade center has just been bombed". I didn't think much about it at that time. Then various people started to buzz and I paid more and more attention. I finally called my mother who is retired and asked her, "is something going on out there in the world? Turn on your TV and call me back". I turned on my own radio just in time to hear Peter Jennings being testy with someone around him. Then he announced that one of the towers had fallen. He had to stop talking for a moment, obviously awed by the unbeliveable sight. I said to those around me, "Peter Jennings just announced that building fell." Then I heard the announcement that all planes were to land wherever they were. This must be really serious, I said to a co-worker. Shortly afterwards, someone came by and told us they had live coverage on a big screen TV one floor above. A co-worker and I went up to look. When I saw the pictures of the towers crashing it really hit me. "There were people in there, someone's mother, someone's husband or wife, somebody's child, a lot of them, were in that building. Throughout the day as I saw again the tumbling giants, I felt sorrier somehow for the hypothetical images that must have come true a thousand times that day: the retired mom, who sat down to watch the news with a cup of coffee and saw the tower fall-a place where her very proud son or daughter worked. The image of a pre-schooler waiting impatiently for his mom to pick him up at five o'clock..and mom was in the tower. At about 10:00 all the teachers went in the hallway and like 30 seconds later Mr. Davis the principal came on the loud speaker and anounnced that the Trade Towers and the Pentagon just got hit. Then my taecher cut on the TV and let us see what was going on. Almost immediatley some of the kids started crying cause some of their parents worked at the Pentagon and some of their parents was in New York. I started to fell lucky and scared at the same time. My mom didn't work near the Pentagon or in New York but my mothers cusin did. So I called and made sure she was alright. Fortunely she was already evacuated before the planes hit. I was so scared but then I was relieved when my mom came and picked me up and took me home. 9/11/01 will be a day I will always remember. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: My 9/11 narrative is already on this site. I'm a native New Yorker who has lived in the DC area for some time now. In September 2001 I spent time in New York as well as spending several harrowing hours on the bus with others like me, trying to get home while the Pentagon (which is not far from me) was burning and lives were being lost. I also spent time in NYCity 2 weeks after 9/11 -- and that terrible sad time is also burned into my soul. What is it like 5 years later? I still pass the Pentagon every day. I look at the totally restored building and think of those lives that are never to be restored, or those burned hands and faces and limbs that will never be restored, and that trust in life that is never to be restored, and I realize that MANY children who were born on or near that fateful day are now old enough to understand in a limited way, what we are commemorating today. IDO NOT want them or their Children's children to ever forget this -- just as I DO NOT want them or their childrens children to ever forget Women's Fight for Equality, or the Holocaust, or the Afro American struggle for Equality, or the Struggle for LGBT Rights, or September 11, 2001. What will we be struggling for in the future? Will we be working VERY hard for Peace, realizing that it begins in each one of our hearts and souls??? Will it be realizing that if we deliberately shortchange someone, or steal from them, or slander them, or bump them in the street or push them on the subway, or make fun of the way they look or talk or dress -- that we are dividing ourselves from one another -- setting the stage for anger, hatred, and revenge??? How much easier it would be to move over to one side, smile, ACCEPT each others' differences, get away from irritating people instead of confronting them (never fight a bear in its own cave!) and, as my mother used to say "Smile at that stranger -- be nice to that stranger (unless of course they are about to do something Very Bad to you! Then RUN!) for you NEVER know what that other person may be suffering!" So every day I pass the Pentagon, and in my minds eye I still remember the utter devastation where there is now a restored facade. I think of those people who were standing at their fax machines or sipping their morning cuppa at their desk -- who were suddenly confronted by melted hands (burned by the jet fuel) broken bones, and/or a mad dash down a dark hallway reeking with jet fuel fumes, and possibly a dash to a certain death. I think of those people in the planes who may or may not have known that their plane was about to disintegrate, that they were about to die in a nanosecond. Those innocents in the World Trade Center, suddenly being confronted with the worst possible hell on earth coming through their windows, visiting death and destruction in the twinkling of an eye. The Towers may be gone, but those memories will resonate there, forever. I think of the wives, husbands, loved ones, kids, kitties, pups, all waiting for their loved one to come home from another work-day at the World Trade Center -- and the terrible shock of discovering that their loved one is gone....... That peaceful field in Pennsylvania, becoming the deadly resting place for yet another plane filled with innocent victims, killed by terrible evil...... September 11 - that terrible day of destruction -- will never again be just an Ordinary Day. This day is a shrine -- and should be a vow for us to promise starting NOW -- to work together perpetually, for peace and healing as we all did in those terrible dark days and weeks after that day that pure evil was visited upon us. I live not far from the Pentagon. On the night of September 10, 2006, I saw the Pentagons illumination ceremony from my windows -- 184 beams of light to commemorate each life lost in the attack on the Pentagon. The beautiful beams of light spread upwards in a huge fan shape and in the middle of all these beams of light the full rising moon itself lent a tribute it was blood-orange red, and was so precisely poised in the middle of those beams of light that for one second, I thought it was part of the illumination itself. No it was Mother Nature herself lending her own tribute to this rite of sorrow and commemoration. Ten years from now, where will we be? I had just arrived at work when I heard about the first plane hitting the tower. I remember thinking that it was just a small plane and thinking that it really wasn't a big deal. Looking back I realize how selfish of a thought that was. At the time though no one realized what horrible day this would turn out to be and being from a small town in Indiana I especially didn't realize how closely I would be affected by all of this. As the morning got more horrific I could only think that I needed to know that my little girl and husband were alright. I think everyone probably thought the same thing even though logically I knew they weren't in harms way. My little girl was with her babysitter who is also a close friend so I knew she was fine, but my husband drives a semi and was about two hours from home. I remember fealing so relived that he was back only to find out that he was leaving in only a couple of hours to go to New York. My husband also drives chartered buses and he had been asked to drive FEMA to the disaster site. All I could think about was the fact that he was going to be so close to the danger. He kept telling me that he would be fine and that he would be back soon and I could only think that so many people in those buildings told their loved ones that they would be home soon and so many never returned home. My husband did come back ten days later. He and all the FEMA workers came home to a heros welcome. I've never felt prouder of him. I know that he saw some horrible things while he was there, some I'm sure I still hasn't told me about and may never will, but I'm sure that if asked to go again he would in a heartbeat. Like so many others I didn't personally know anyone that lost their life that day, but I feel like have a connection with so many. Three days ago was the one year anniversary and just like last year my husband was in his semi, my little girl was about to go to the sitters, and I was about to go to work only on this Sept. 11th I made sure I hung the flag out before I left. My teacher imeadtily call his wife. About five mintues later a report about the Pentagon . I stop in the first thing that camed to my head was my stepfather. I was nervous wondering about if he was injured or even if he was still alive. Would my mother eyes be fill up with tears or what not. As I waited intill i approached my neighborhood to see if my father was home .I found his face fulled with joyed and not sorrow. But I fell that they took a whole lot of innocent lives. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I heard about the attack as i was driving across the Tappan Zee Bridge in bumper to bumper traffic, on my way to work. In the distance, i saw the pillars of black,thick smoke coming from the buildings. I had on the radio my favorite pop station, who broke into the song that was playing to start reporting what was going on. Only no one really knew what the story was..they had phone calls from people in the second tower who were watching the first tower aflame...I will always remember thinking later on if any of those people who took the time to chat on the radio made it out in time when the second tower was hit... I got to work, and immediately put on the TV..i work in a nursing home as a therapist, but cancelled all my patients..I had my father and my boyfriend working that day in the city, and i knew that my cousin Debbie worked in the towers..I tried desperately to get through to all of them, with no luck...I remember talking to my mom, who had heard from my Dad, and yelling at her to tell him to get out as quick as possible. As soon as i heard about potential bridge closings, I decided to leave work and get my child from school..I was afraid to be without her, and didn't know what would happen next. I remember driving in an almost trancelike state to her school, thinking about where we would go to be safe..and then suddenly realizing that no where was safe, and if we were to be attacked, home was where i wanted to be. I got to the school with the other frantic parents to pick my child up..she was oblivious to what was happening, as any seven year old should be. I filled my car with gas, and went home, immediately turning on the tv to CNN, which would be my only channel over the next few days. I hudled with her on the couch, until i realized that the reports were un-nerving to her, and sent her to her room to play. I was sure the people that I was concerned about were dead.. After spending a number of hours in this uncertain, fearful state, I did find out that all the people I was worried about were okay. My boyfriend had gotten out of the city in the afternoon, my father was one of the " walking people", who treked through the city's highways to get home, and that my cousin was late taking her bus to the city that day and saw the first hit as the bus was ready to go through the tunnel..that night, I drove to my botfriends house with my daughter, packing some things in case it would be difficult to return..I had no idea what awaited our country in the future. I found out later on that a friend of mine was among the missing and eventually his body was found with that of my friends brother... It was a day that i will never forget..and will make sure that my child never forgets either... Since I work for a major investment bank headquartered in lower Manhattan, our disaster recovery plan required us to take over functions from that region as backup. While I think our staff kept things going in a admirable fashion, it was extremely hard to focus on the tasks at hand knowing some of our coworkers were there in the thick of pure pandomonium. Our manager was visiting HQ in NYC and in fact was staying the Millenium Hotel next to the WTC, but fortunately was blocks away at the time of impact. In the end, we lost two in the towers. When the towers fell, the world changed in more ways than we could count for our nation. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I was vacationing in New York City from Houston, Texas with my husband, son and nephew. I had a reservation to have brunch on July 8, 2001 in the "Windows On The World" for Sunday Brunch. It was a pouring down rainy day, but I told my family I wanted to go there anyway. We arrived there at 11 a.m. and were seated at a nice corner table. It was very foggy and we could not see a thing. Suddenly the fog lifted, the rain stopped and we had a spectacular view and was able to see all the beauty of New York that we so remembered, as my husband and I were born and raised in West 101st Street, just one block west of Central Park. We all had a wonderful brunch and the wait staff were fantastic. There was a band there with a lead black singer and he asked us what did we want to hear him sing, and we all shouted "New York, New York" He sang it directly to us and our hearts were just filled with joy. As we were leaving the restaurant, the singer called to us. "Please come back and visit us soon" Little did we know that exactly one year later we did go back but the view was one that broke us up and the sadness is still with us. We keep thinking about all those nice people that served us there and all the others in the buildings that perished, including our Fire and Police Department men that lost their lives in that terrible tragedy. The alarm clock showed it was 6:56am I got of bed turned on my light and was about to turn off the radio so I didn't have to here 97.9 KODM LIGHT ROCK 98 News I didn't have time to here it today. My bus would be at the Bus Stop at 7:15am I slept in a little bit. When I finished getting ready for school I went to turn on the coffee for my mom and my dad. My mom was already up and told my brother to wake up because he don't set his alarm clock ever. After I turned on the coffee I to the living room to get my back pack I got it then headed for the Bus Stop. When I got there my brother was On his way to were I was. The bus got there around 7:19am when I got on and the other teen's who get on at that Bus Stop We went to our seats. I set down by my frined Danny. Danny and me started talking about Odessa High School were we both go to school at. First we both talked about how Mr.Watson in room 503 because he is so cool. Mr.Watson makes Danny and Me - (James Matt Meyer) laugh and makes Danny and Me (James Matt Meyer) happy to be at school. Well got to school and I told Danny I'll see ya after school or sooner. Well I went to Mr.Watson room because I had him 1st period of A-Day. We have A-Day and B-day at OHS. Well when I got Mr.Watson's room my 1st period he was watching T.V. on the T.V. there was a building on fire I thought it was a movie but it was not a movie. It was REAL. Mr.Watson said a plane hit the World Trade Center in New York Manhattan I had a seat at my desk and watched as people were shocked about what's going on. Then Mr.Watson said it might be an accident. Well the bell for school to started to ring Mr.Watson said we will watch this instead of work. When the tardy bell finished ringing he told the class about whats going on. When he was in the middle of what he was telling us what's on the 2nd building was hit. I thought it might be a replay of the 1st building so did alot of other students Mr.Watson said It's not because this one has a 10ft. Mass on it the other one don't That's when we knew it had to be Terrosiom. Later around 8:53am the building fell to the ground. Then around 9:03am the next building fell to the ground also. I was in tears after I saw the 2nd building fell to it's death. I was shocked about the things that happened later on also I cryed almost all day. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I was starting my internship in Midtown that day. I live in Jersey and I was taking the train into the city. It was really my first experience going into the city and working by myself, so this was supposed to be a big day for me. At around 8:35, I remember looking at the towers, thinking how beautiful they were and that I would like to work there someday. I never expected what happened next. We had just pulled into the Newark station on the NJ transit line at around 8:40. As we pulled out, I looked at the one tower and noticed smoke billowing out. I had no idea what was going on. My first instinct was "It looks like the incinerater is lined up perfectly with the one tower, that's strange". But then, as the train kept moving forward, I realized for sure that it was no incinerator. The tower was actually on fire. Everyone on the train started to speak and wonder what was going on. I didn't realize the intensity of the situation then. I figured that it was being taken care of, because I noticed helicopters flying around it. When I got into Penn Station, I just thought to myself, "Everything is ok, I'm sure the situation has been taken control of." I got to Times Square, and I noticed the footage of what was going on was different from what I saw. The other tower had been hit!! I couldn't believe my eyes!! I was so shocked. Times Square was in total standstill. Everyone just paused and looked up at the screen. It was so freaky. I didn't understand what was truly happening. Then I got to the cafeteria of where my internship was located, and I watched ABC news. All I remember hearing was Peter Jennings saying "This was a planned terrorist attack. It must have taken them months and years to plan something like this." I was in shock!! My body just became overwhelmed with fear and panic. I was never as scared in my life as I was that moment. I then heard a beep from my cell phone. I had just gotten a voice mail message from my sister. She told me that I should get out of NYC right away because they had closed all the ports getting into the city. I look back and thought, I should have left then and there. But I didn't want to get in trouble with my supervisor and leave, so I waited for her to show up. I then sat with other interns and told them what i saw on the train. It was then that another bulletin came on the screen. The Pentagon had just been hit!! At that point, I really thought it was the end of the world. All I could think about was that I wanted to go home and be with my family. I wouldn't reunite with my family until much later that day. This was only the beginning of the worst day of my life thus far. As they were talking on the news, all I could say to the other interns was that I wanted to go home. My voice was shaking and I was ready to cry, but I didn't. I just knew that I had to get out of there. Then, they showed the clip of the first tower collapsing. Everyone in the cafeteria was SCREAMING!!! I never experienced anything like it. Just thinking about it gives me chills. A few people ran to the phones, and I can hear them saying "My friends in there" or "so-and-so is in there, I have to find them". I took the elevator down to the lobby, and in the elevator was this guy who was panicking, trying to get out of the building. All he kept saying was "I have to get her out! I have to get her out!" You don't know what to say to someone after a moment like that. I didn't know what to do. I ran back to Penn station trying to catch the 10:43 train. I kept thinking along the way "Why did this have to happen? What's going to happen next?" I needed to get on that train and back home, safe with my family. Just as I got on the train, we were all ready to leave and get out of New York. I let out a sigh of relief and said out loud "Thank God". As soon as I said that, an announcement was made. The conductor said that everyone has to get off the train and that they need everyone at Ground level. I felt like I was being thrown into a pit of poisonous snakes. I was so scared at that point. My family had no idea where I was now. None of the cell phones worked. I waited on line to use a public pay phone for an hour and a half, trying to call my sister and my family and tell them I was alright. While on line, I was being briefed about other updates. Here are some of the things I heard (Some true, some definitely false) "The second tower collapsed. Four more planes are hijacked and they are headed this way. A plane fell in Pittsburgh. They won't open Penn Station for two days." I was ready to go insane. I didn't care what I had to do to get back to Jersey, but just getting there was my objective at that point. The fighter jets began flying overhead, and my first instinct was that it was another plane coming after another part of New York (At that point, I was near the Empire State Building, so I was even more scared). The police closed off all the streets and made announcements on the megaphone. The first announcment was that the Staten Island Ferry was open and it was the only way out of New York. I remember asking the policewoman, "How do I get there"? "Walk", she said. I walked a total of over 200 blocks that day. I had relatives in Staten Island, so I figured I'd be safe with them, at least. As I walked downtown, I managed to get signal back on my cell phone. It was then that I spoke with my uncle to direct me around lower Manhattan, for I had no familiarity with it whatsoever. I only knew my way around Midtown. As I walked down, I walked past St. Vincent's hospital, where they were bringing in all the victims. It was a madhouse. I still had my ear to the reports on the radios of the people walking in the streets. YOu would be surprised about some of the things they were saying at that point. I couldn't listen anymore. It just got me more scared than I was, but you couldn't help listening. As I got to canal street, the smoke became thicker, and I started to feel the dust. I remember wiping the sweat off my forehead and feeling dust and grain. I looked at my hand, and it was grey. I was beyond the point of overwhelmed. I was ready to accept death, because I did not know what was going to happen next. I just thought that I would be stuck there and have no way to get out. The time was now 2:30, and my sister calls me on my cell phone. She tells me that Guiliani opened Penn Station again and to get over there as soon as possible (Mind you, I was at Canal Street when I found this out.) I had to race uptown again and get on that train. Nothing was stopping me. When I finally got on the train, I was a sardine. There was seriously no room to move. We were all squeezed together. I was so happy now that I was leaving NY. I then checked my voice mails, which I wasn't able to do before. They were all from family, thinking that I was dead because I didn't respond to their calls. That was the second freakiest moment of my life, having someone think you're dead and leaving you a voice mail. The first moment is obviously being in the city during this turmoil. I finally got home at 5:30, and I just cried. I couldn't stop crying for the rest of the day. In fact, I didn't sleep that night. It was a living nightmare that took me a long time to get through. I still think about it everyday. Those poor people that suffered through that. It's so horrible to witness something like that. It took me a long time to finally watch the footage on TV. I can recall having a conversation with one of our guests in the lobby who was staying on the friends and family rate, and asking him which family member worked for Marriott. He replied that his sister done my job at the World Trade Center Marriott and i recall talking about New York and that hotel as i have previously stayed in that hotel. I was in the lobby of the London Marriott at the time the 2nd plane hit because i can remember a large crowd of people around the television set watching CNN. I'm not sure what tower crashed down on top of the WTC Marriott but i will always remember seeing that guests face and the shock and emotions that then followed. Tell us your story: On September 11, 2001, I was 7 months pregnant and not feeling so well when I woke up @ 6:30 that morning, so I stayed home from work. By 8:00 I was sitting on my bed with the Today show on and thinking that for a September day it certainly was a beautiful day. I remember immediately following 8:46 when the first plane crashed into the tower, Matt Lauer and Katie Couric, reported that a plane crashed into the World Trade center. My first thoughts were ?Wow what a horrible accident? and never thinking that what we were seeing was a terrorist attack. At this point I could not pull myself away from the TV and at 9:03 I saw the most horrific sight I thought imaginable. It was then I started to realize that what was happening was not just an accident. As my husband and I sat and watched and cried and pleaded for safety and strength for those poor innocent people on each plane, in the Pentagon, the Towers, the FDNY, PDNY and everyone else I felt ill thinking I was bringing an innocent child into this world. It was no ill feeling I had ever experienced before. By noon that day, with the sun still shining outside, I remember thinking again what a beautiful day, however, in that same thought I thought this day is not a day where the sun should be shining so beautiful. This was not a beautiful day. The best I could do to try and survive my own suffocation that day was to let my husband, family and friends know how much I love them and that is what I did. The next thing I know, I am waking up to someone crying on the radio. (I sleep with my radio on). I had just sent my best friend (a pilot for United at the time) on a plane back to NYC from IAD. My phone started ringing sometime around 8ish. It was my mom asking me about my best friend Mark, and which flight he had taken that morning. She then explained that a plane had hit the WTC. I turned on the news and watched the coverage of the WTC and all the smoke, etc. People were crying and I was still half awake. While watching the news coverage, I watched the 2nd plane hit the other tower. Moments later there were reports of planes headed for the white house and pentagon. Then the news of a hit on the pentagon became real. I received a page from my fire department putting us all on alert and to get to our fire departments ASAP. I put my gear in my car and sped to the FD. Next thing I know, I am being deployed to Station 11, in Manassas, Prince William County to be deployed to the Pentagon. The whole time, I continued to call my best friend, unable to get through, as all the phone lines were busy. Finally, I reached his mother, who had been trying to call me all morning. He was OK. For the next 4 days, we spent every waking moment thinking about all the fire and EMS personnel that we had lost, not knowing if anyone had survived. To this day, it still chills me to the bone that we lost so many of our brothers and sisters due to ignorant terrorists. I believe in our fight over seas, even if some do not. The grief still hits me every year, as I am sure it will continue for years to come. I compare my feelings of this tragedy to being involved in a war. I was one of the fortunate ones who did not lose someone I love, but my heart still goes out to those who did lose their loved ones. God Bless America and everyone who stands for freedom. My mother and I blew it off and didn't think anything of it! we thought that it was just a joke when we first heard the story. When I got to school that's all the kids were talking about. I got in class and then i heard that a second one had hit the other trade center building! I just remember feeling terrible because just about an hour ago I had thought it was just a prank that deserved no attention. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: It was around 7:30, and i was in my first period class asleep as usual. My teacher had left the room to go use the phone in the teacher's workroom. When she came back in she was rolling in a TV and crying. Noone knew why until she turned on the TV. We all sat and watched as an airplane flew into the second building of the World Trade Center. Everyone was in complete shock. The rest of the day we just had basically one big "moment of silence."
