Tell us your story: On September 11, 2001 I was working for a Temp agency and I was assigned to work for "Eron" for 3 weeks as an administrative assistant. I was on my way to work about 7:30am. As I was driving to work which was located in Hinsdale, IL just about 30 minutes from where I live, I decided to turn on the radio to listen to some music. Flipping thru the channels to find a Christian station, at that time, I believe it was alittle after 8:00am, I heard the DJ ManCow from Q101FM annouce that one of the twin towers were just struck by an airplain, and then all of a sudden he yelled out again, "Oh my God!, folks another plain just hit the second tower!". I was puzzled just as everyone else was driving down the street that morning. The traffic completely stopped and paused for a moment or two. No one was moving, and everyone just looked at eachother with confusion and fear in their faces. Finally as the traffic began to move once again, I finally reached my destination and came into work and everyone was focused on the TV watching the news and the events of what had just happened. We were all told to leave home for the rest of that day. As I was driving back home, it seemed as though the world had just stopped. It was very quiet that day. I was glued to the TV for the rest of the day and evening, and gathered with my neighbors outside in front of our apartment building talking with one another about the tragedy. I was in shocked that whole day. It was just so hard to beleive that this happened in our country, especially in New York! I thought alot about my family in Wisconson and in Croatia. Later on that day, I called my parents who live in Wissonsin, and then called the rest of my family who live in Croatia just so that I can hear their voices. I came from Croatia to the United States when I was about 8yrs old. I feel very fortunate and greatful that I live here in the United States, and that I have many opportunites and freedom. I speak 4 other languages besides learning English when I came here to the US. I was facinated by the many different cultures and people that lived here in the United States. That is probubly why I chose to live in Chicago for the rest of my life. I believe that this country has given many people their dreams and a life full of hope, education, and opportunites. I feel very blessed to be here. When Croatia and Serbia was at war in 1991/92, I felt sorrow and pain for both sides. Loosing my cousin in that war devistated our family. It was hard for me to imagine what war could be like when I was not living their anymore. All I could do is pray. Pray that God would touch everyone in their hearts and keep peace with one another. We are all "human". We are all "living people" who breath the same air to stay alive each day that passes until it is our time to leave this precious earth. I never thought that such evil could try to distroy our freedom here in the United States. The word is "try" but evil has not succeeded. We have become better Americans and we have come together in "Unity" no matter who we are or where we came from! We all need to stay strong for one another and continue to live ours lives for the sake of those wo have lost theirs. I will never forget the day of 09/11/2001, it will always be in my heart. Tell us your story: I was at school, in the 6th grade, when that had happened and the principal had came on the annoucement thing and he had said that there had been a tragidy and i was like omg and he had told us what happened, and then like a few weeks later our counceler had came in and was talking about it, and she had told us that one of our subs for the teacher "Mr. Williams" was in the building when that had happened and she started to cry, her and Mr. Williams were good friends and Mr. Williams is a good sub, but before that Mr. Williams had told our counceler what had happened and he said that he was inthe second building and when the airplane had hit the other building, they wouldnt let them leave and then the airplane had hit the building he was in and he had got thrown down the stairs and then when he was at the bottom, he ran outside and started taking off, with some of his friends but his friends had already been home when he got there,and Mr. Williams had said that when he got home and his friends were there, they asked him if he was alright and he said ya and he asked them if they were alright and they said ya, Mr. Williams had no scrathes or any marks on him at all, even though he was thrown down stairs and everything, he had no scrathes on him, luckly he didnt die, but i feel sad that some of his friends did die, and that a lot of other people died, and you never know, some of them people you could have known, and you didnt know that, just thank God, that the people that did die, their family are "ok" right now, but we will never forget them, and they had no right to die!!!! *Amber* Dublin Core The Dublin Core metadata element set is common to all Omeka records, including items, files, and collections. Tell us your story: I remember semptember 11th like it was yesterday,i work for a major cinema chain in england and i couldn't belive how quiet it was for a day which normally would have been busy,i remember our administrator coming from her office and telling us a plane had hit the twin towers,upon hearing this i didn't feel much worry as i thought a fairly new structure would stay up and be evactuated with minimum loss i also thought this must have been an accident! How wrong i was.For some reason out of curisoty i think i took my break from work to watch the news, about ten mins in to my break i saw the second plane hit,my head spun and i immediatly felt sick taking a second look at the t.v to make sure i just seen what i thought i had just seen or that my imagination had run wild,all i could remember thinking was they wont fall they cant fall and just thinking whats next i felt like i was watching a scene from independence day after i found out about the pentagon and the 4th plane i just felt scared as where i work is a major shopping centre and very near manchester airport so whoever was behind this if england was also a target i would be in a very easy target.The funny thing is although i went on my break i never went back to work that day i just stayed in the staff room thinking i hope its ok i hope everyone got out in time(by this time both towers had fell)when i finished my shift i phoned an ex girlfriend just to see if she was ok and going home i remeber i being so eerily quiet like the whole poplation of england was somewhere else but where i was.i got on the bus on my way home and i was the only one on it quite a rarity at 5 oclock i just got home then and wacthed the news seeing how brave the emergency services was really made me think how strong the human will must be just to keep going against an impossible task,To finish i just want to say everyone in england is behind you and i give you all the love in the world i can't really say why i'm writing this so long after the event i just read some of the transcripts of the victims and it just made me feel helpless like i wish i could have helped in some or any way just to get the people out of the towers in time. Tell us your story: On the morning of September 11, I woke up and got ready like any other day, not knowing that the events that would occur only a few precious hours later would change my life forever. I was a member of a generation that had never experieced war. Never fearing of an attack or the lose of a loved one. I was one that thought nothing was ever going to happen to our country. What was in store for me that September morning would crash all that I believed in. I was sitting in my second hour class, Civics, listening to our teacher lecture us on govenrnment jobs. One of the ironic topics during that morning's discussion was one on how the government job was to protect us. During the hour I left to retrieve a worksheet that I had forgotten in my locker. On my way back to class, I walked past a office with all of its members eyes transfixed on a television screen. I had the oddest feeling watching them stare up at the television. My heart just sank with nothing there to catch it. Then I remember thinking to myself, I hope this is nothing like Pearl Harbor. I have never been the pychic type, but at that moment I somehow knew that something bad had happened before I was offically informed of it. The thoughts quickly left my mind as I continued my walk back to class. When arriving to my class the teacher had turned on the television set. Every single eye was glued on the screen watching the unbelivalbe footage scroll bye. Not a word escaped the mouth of any member of my class. It was one of those things that happens that takes your body a while to digest the information. At first I was in denial, how could this happen to us, America. We were unbreakable until the enemy found a small rip in our safety net. I no longer had that feeling of security, it was torn away when planes hit their targets. Our econonmy changed. Many lost loved ones, jobs, money and so much more. I believe the American people have grown closer together after this tragidy, but yet many have grown further apart. I believe that everything happens for a reason. All you have to do is put your trust in God's hands and he will protect you. I was pregnant with our second child. I couldn't help but wonder what kind of world I would be bringing my child into. Our oldest was nearly 6 years old. Tell us your story: The Day the world Stood Still In Time By Kathy Bruni Spring , Texas I had just Droped off my son at school and had come home when the phone rang, I answered it and it was my Husband. He had asked me if I had the TV on and I said no why? He said that you might want to turn it on , because the World Trade Centers had been hit by Planes, at the time I told him I am sure that you didn't hear the news right , so I turned on the TV and was so shocked by what I saw that I fell to the floor of my house in Disbelief. Then the news started telling us what had realy happened , that Terrorise had Hyjacked 3 Planes and that a fourth was being hyjacked , I thought to myself how can this be ? Then before I could think clearly the World Trade Centers come crashing down on TV, I just couldn't get up off the floor. Then I thought what about my kids , I started to call their schools and then another surrpise came on the TV , Flight 93 had flown its self in to the growned. Then they said that people had gottin phone calls from their loved one telling them good bye for the last time. I thought O my god the people on those Planes! They had just hit the World Trade Centers or one of the other buildings. Words just can't descibe the fear of the not knowing what to do next. I got in my car and rushed to the schools in fear that because of where we live I may not seem kids again. I couldn't hold back the tears on my face, they asked me what was wrong and I told them . They said that they too where scared . When we got home they just sat in frount of the TV and they too just couldn't beleive what they where seening on TV. Then the next day the TV was saying they where trying to find people and all they could fing was body parts. The fear we all have and had on that terrible day of set 11, 2001 will for ever be burned in our minds and the minds of those who lost a love one or those who lost their lives.The Courage , Leadership , Spirt , Individual Dignity, Humanity and Heroism that these people showed on the plane and at grown zero will be in the memories of us all.Always Remeber what these people did to help keep our world safe and to keep Freedom Free for all who are left behind. All of the sudden people started running in our direction. We didn't know why or anyrthing. So we started running. At first I thought someone had a gun or something. I wasn't sure if I should go up to my office which was in WTC 2 88th floor. I decided not to, and just get outside. I saw my one friend and we just ran. I ran to my boyfriends office down on Broad St. and luckily, he was getting off the elevator when I walked in his building. My boyfriend, friend, and I walked to the nearest payphone to call our moms, and let them know we were all together and we were ok. From there we were going to walk the FDR to the BKLYN Bridge, but that's when we heard this sonic "BOOM!" - It was 2 WTC collapsing. Of course at the time we didn't know it, but all I knew was I was NOT walking across any bridge after hearing that noise. so we turned around and walked towards uptown. We met my bf's brother and went to eat/drink something. With no where else to go we decided to try to head back towards the Staten Island Ferry, to get to his house. We did just that. And we got home safe and sound. I just think that if I would have went upstairs, I may have never come back down. I don't know. THat was the scariest thing that has ever happened to me, and I thank god I am alive everyday. For those who lost loved ones, you are in my prayers. God Bless! Tell us your story: I got to work and as I was entering the school someone said that a plane had crashed into one of the World Trade Center towers. At first, as most people did, I believed it was a small plane that had engine trouble and that it was a freak accident. I went out to my car and turned on the radio, with a few other employees standing around the open driver side door listening as well. Our jaws dropped as we heard the events unfolding. A second plane into the second tower, a plane into the Pentagon, a plane down in PA, the first tower coming down, the second tower coming down, other buildings coming down. All of the speculation and flase reports about other government buildings being offered and retracted. All I could think about were my fiancee and my brother and tried to make calls to their offices and cell phones with no avail. No calls were going through. I called home to see if there were any messages and my Fiancee picked up the phone. The bus into Manhatten via the Lincoln Tunnel had been turned around and she saw from a distance the first tower come down. I called my parents and found out my brother was okay and making it back over the river on the Ferry. Next we heard from our friends who worked at the tip of Manhatten and were covered in debree but had made it over to NJ where they were stuck and had to spend the night in hotel rooms. One former employee of mine worked at 7 World Trade center and was on the steps walking into work when the first plane hit. Needless to say he decided to take the day off... An old friend of mine worked in 1 World Trade Center and I looked her up on the internet and found out she survived. Another friend had made the long 6 or 7 mile exodus all the way up to and across the George Washington Bridge. At this point I hadn't seen any of the images on TV and everything that had transpired were only images conjured up in my imagination. I left work a little early and to my horror, the images on TV were worse than my imagination had conjured up. The conflict between the gratefulness that my loved ones were safe and the thousands of lives definitely lost in this terrorist attack confused me. In the days after we heard about cousins of friends, friends of friends, etc., who had perished. It took a week before it really setlled in that the World Trade Center Towers were no more. Then came the anger and survivor guilt. The incredibly proud feeling that the crew of the plane that went down in PA had taken over the plane and sacrificed themselves to save countless others. The Patriotism welled up. I hate to think that it took a tragedy such as this one to bring out the dormant patriotism in all of us, but that is what happened. I was watching a show on CNN last night and saw images I hadn't seen then, because I couldn't watch it on TV any longer at the time. It brought back everything. I wish there were an internet site such as this one after the Holocaust to document the events of that tragedy as you are doing today. We must never forget! Tell us your story: While at work one of the other people there called us over to the tv's where they were showing the pictures of the first tower that was hit. To our disbelief while watching, here came the second plane. I think all of our jaws dropped as we could not believe what we just saw. Before, we were thinking that the first plane was some sort of horrible accident. When the second plane hit right before our eyes, we realized this was no accident. Something like that wouldn't happen twice in a row. Now we knew something was terribly wrong. Deciding to go on a break so we could watch the news broadcast we just all still could not believe it. Then just as we were on our way back to the floor to work the news about the Pentagon came over the tv. Our hearts just dropped. When is this madness going to end??? Why would someone want to do such a thing??? All the lives---lost. Shaking our heads as we headed back to work we kept trying to get back to the tv's just to see what was happening. Then when you think it's over you hear about flight 93. Knowing that it too was on its way to a target. Thinking again that it just couldn't get any worse---the first tower collapses. The horror. You could then see how tower 2 was leaning and it was just time before it too would fall. There wasn't really much we could say. I think we were all just speachless. Even though I wasn't there I felt like my heart was just ripped out. I felt sick to my stomach thinking of how many people suffered and just lost their life. Some people calling their loved ones to say "I Love You" for the last time is just devastating. I couldn't even imagine being the recipiant of that call, or the caller for that matter. I went home that day and continued to watch the coverage and just thinking and realizing how precious life is and how much I cared for those around me. I also felt very angry on how such a thing could have happened. And God only knows how many others would have lost their life if they didn't ground all airplanes. I think that this incident will make many Americans prejiduce against foreign people. My prayers go out to all the people who lost their loved ones. It's unbelieveable that a year has gone by already since this tragedy. But it is still fresh in our minds as if it were yesterday. I don't think any American will forget September 11th. It's something that will be etched in our minds forever. It's a shame though that this day couldn't be remembered for something good. The man and men responsible for this will get what is coming to them in the end. God was, and is watching. We may not be able to catch them, but God will!!! God Bless America!!! Tell us your story: I was going through my own hell on the morning of 9/11/01, I was recovering from surgery due to breast cancer and not sure of the road ahead for myself and my family. I turned on the t.v. and was starting to get my children up for school and the images on the news made me crumble, I screamed for my husband and we watched in horror as the first tower burned. We decided the kids should go to school and then we see the second plane hit, What was going on??!! I know that my husband and I didn't move from that t.v. and we kept saying it couldn't be happening. Each time the crashes were replayed it looked like a movie not real life, how sad is that! I cried for all those who lost there loved ones, for us as a nation , for having to explain this to an eight and six year old and for our mortality. I know the terrorist thought we would crumble but I am so proud to be an American and have a brother who serves our counrty in the Navy. Thank you to our Armed Forces, our fireman, police and all the others who have shown what it means to be an American!!!! God Bless America!!!! They had a hard time of getting up and getting ready. I made them breakfast and took them to school. When I returned I made myself some breakfast and put a load of clothes in the washing machine. I turned on the television and turned it off immediatley. To check and see if something was wrong with my television, and to my surprise there was nothing wrong with it. I was absolutely horrified and screaming "WHY", I called my mother at her work and she was also watching in horror. We cried together and screamed as we watched the second tower being hit. I then called my Mamaw and Papaw and they too were in shock. I tuned in to CNN and watched as both of the towers fell and told myself I hope those evil men who took over the planes died a very painful and excruciating death. I went and picked up my children from school and held them like I've never held them before. Then came the news about the Pentagon. Then the news about the other plane. I prayed to God to forgive them but my heart could'nt. They took away friends, families and most of all, "Our Future". Where were you when the world stopped turning? Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I was born in Brooklyn and lived in NYC as a child. My parents live in Manhattan now. I have lived in Oxford for the last four years and I've been working on my PhD, which is about 20th Century British writing on New York City. I woke up on Tuesday, 11 September, went into town, bought a much-needed extra bookshelf and was assembling it when the phone rang. It was a friend who calmly told me to turn on my t.v. because he didn't have one and had heard on the radio that a plane had crashed into downtown Manhattan. I turned on the set in time to see the second plane crash into the second tower. I refused to believe that it was anything but an accident because the suggestion that anyone would plan such an attack seemed too clever even in its simplicity and barbarism. I managed to phone my father at his office and all he could say was that he didn't understand why this was happening and if this was it. I think the feeling that the attacks might continue, first on Washington, then throughout the country and possibly the world was the chilling feeling that stayed with my housemates and I throughout the semester and the war in Afghanistan. We grasped onto the political arguments and theoretical discussions because it was too gruesome to think of what had actually happened to all those people on the planes, on the ground, and especially in the buildings. For me, writing about New York because a very different activity after September 11. I still struggle with the idea that my work is flippant in light of what I could be doing to help in the aftermath, even months later. Somehow I hope I am contributing to an understanding of the place and the idea of the place. I was lucky and feel somewhat guilty -- my family and friends managed to escape and avoid the direct physical impact of the attack. One thing that they have told me is that they are helped rather than haunted by the continued discussion and sharing of impressions. I think I too am helped by hearing their stories, and the stories from this archive, which will (uneasily but necessarily) be woven into my collection of foreign impressions of our city. I had just walked in when I saw the tail end of the plane hit the first tower. I couldn't believe what I had just seen. I ran to my desk and called my mom and said to put the news on. Everyone from the other side of the floor was rushing over. I stood in the empty conference room in front of my desk just starring at the huge flames, thinking... this looks like an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie. As I watched the flames and smoke from the first tower become bigger, the second plane came from behind and this huge fireball exploded right in front of me. My body was frozen, I couldn't even speak. I heard my bosses yelling to everyone-- we are evacuating the floor, please leave now. I just stood there,until my friend came in and grabbed me out. When we got down to the street, it was total craziness. All you heard was people screaming and trying to find someone to be with. People didn't know where to run, but they were running. There were massive flames and smoke everywhere. I decided to leave when I saw people jumping out of the building. All I could think of was my two kids. I had to rush home to them. I must of caught the last E train out from downtown which took me to 42nd Street and I literally ran acrosstown to the #7 train to Queens. The people on the train were clueless until some passanges received the news on their beepers. With each creep through the tunnel, I prayed I would make it to the next. I parked my car in Long Island City, near the Midtown Tunnel. As I was waiting in my car for the light to change, I turned and saw the tower collapse--complete devistation for me. I really felt like I was in a war zone. All I wanted was to hug and kiss my kids and go home. It felt like forever. At 11:30 am, I picked up the baby from the babysitters and came home. My other son was safe in school. I stayed in my house for three days after September 11th and didn't return to work until September 20th. For weeks I had nightmares and couldn't sleep. This tradegy was so very sad for so many people. In November, 2001, I lost my job because of these attacks. I haven't been in the city since, but I am home safe and sound with my two children. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: On 9/11/01 I was at work as an elementary guidance counselor in the Conneaut School District(Pennsylvania). The school psychologist arrived sometime after nine asking us if we heard what happened. We hadn't. I remember calling home to talk to my husband who was with our 1 year-old daughter. As we spoke the newscaster announced that the Pentagan had been hit. My strongest feelings were to be with my family. I lived 62 miles away from where I worked and could not leave anyway. I remember fear, shock and most of all horror. My mother works close to NY city and all the phone lines were busy. I could not contact her. My brother was geting his PhD at a school in Washinton D.C. Those lines were busy too. Imagine the families and friends who knew their loved one was in any of those buildings or planes and could not be with them, speak to them or even know if they were alive. Later that morning watching news footage on a collegue's television I couldn't stop thinking how much I had always taken my safety in this country for granted. I recalled watching things like this happen in the Middle East, Africa, etc. How ignorant I was. We made sure the students knew a little about the event before they went home for the day. We were concerned that the high schoolers on their buses would scare them. All the teachers read a written statement to their classes appropriate for elementary students. How ironic, the information was such horror to adults who didn't understand it and a country of parents, grandparents, guardians, teachers, etc. had to explain it to a nation of children that night. It is now 9/13 2002 and 1 year later I sitll feel as much, if not more sorrow. I still cannot even begin to imagine the sadness of families, friends, etc. who lost a loved one in the attacks. I stay home with my daughter now. Yes, 9/11 had a great impact on this decision. I'm not sure we can afford it but we are willing to try. I am grateful my daughter was only 1 year-old at the time and too young to know or fear any of it. It is a mission of mine to wait until she is older and explain it all. We must never forget. My sister phoned me at approximately 8:50am to tell me that a plane crashed into the WTC. She was extremely upset..she had just watched the live feed on Channel 4 from WTC showing the plane as it crashed into Tower 1. She insisted I leave my office immediately! At first, I couldn't believe this was happening...my co-workers and I tried to get an image on our computers, but our computers had gone down. Everyone started receiving phone calls from family & friends...telling us what was happening and to evacuate our buiding. My sister called again - screaming and begging me to leave -- another plane has just hit Tower 2 -- we were under attack! My coworkers and I did leave then and ran outside to look downtown - it was surreal - a mushroom cloud of black smoke covered the downtown sky. Hundreds of people were walking uptown -- everyone was walking uptown. I was concerned for my family, my friends, but we could not call them...phone service had gone out. We walked up to 63rd Street to get to my sisters apartment..all bridges & tunnels were closed. It was so strange..the streets were so quiet..everyone looked resolved...calm...probably in shock. We saw a crowd in front of someone's apartment window in the 50's -- a television had been placed there..we finally saw the horror...the building had just fallen down!!! I felt the way I did when I heard JFK had been shot...complete shock,horror. The beautiful blue sky was filled with smoke and ashes. We looked downtown from Madison Avenue and we saw what looked like Hiroshima. I realized then that people I knew that worked in the WTC may not have made it out. Three of them did not. The Today show was on and I heard Katie Curric say "something is happening." From that point on I was glued to the TV. Like many Americans I witnessed the second plane fly into the World Trade Center (WTC) Tower 2. Initially, I thought there had to have been an catastrophic break down of the New York Air Traffic Control System. My brain refused to process what my eyes had sent it. But my heart knew. I quickly dressed and drove to work. The Gold Star bridge was virtually empty of traffic and there were no planes in the sky. Upon arrival at work, I heard that the Pentagon had also been attacked. I felt unsafe living so close to the Groton Subase. All I could think of was an attack on our Nuclear submarines. Next thing you know all disaster teams were called to there place of contact. I was a member of the Medical control center (MCC). Captain Riley turned on the TV and we saw replays of a plane crashing into the world trade center. At first we were all just like, it was a simple accident. Then the building colapsed and the bulliten stated that it was a terrorist event. My heart jumped very hard. I didn't know what to say. All I could do was what I was supposed too. Tell us your story: I had spent September 10, 2001, helping my son Jonathan get ready to fly to Shepherd Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, TX, to complete his F-16 crew chief training. His orders from the Colorado Air National Guard were unexpected, and we were scrambling to get the ranch he and I lived on ready for him to be gone for 6 months. After a hectic day of getting him packed and driven to Denver, he called back that night to let me know that he was there safe and sound. He related a strange incident that had happened to him that day at DIA. He had been ordered to fly in uniform, so he was surprised when a Marine LT came up to him and asked him what he was doing in uniform on a civilian flight. The Marine told him that he wasn't suppose to be in uniform because of the danger to him should something go wrong on a flight, such as a terrorist hijacking or something. He then told Jonathan how to hide his military ID so that it wouldn't be found should a search of passengers be initiated and gave him some other information along the same line. We laughed a little about it and I said, "Well, I hope you never need to know about that first hand!" The next morning, I was lying in bed watching the local 6:00 am news show when it was interrupted by the national NBC news show, announcing a calamity occurring at the World Trade Center. When the second plane crashed as I was watching, and the terrorist angle was being discussed, all I could think was, "And I just gave my only son to my country." My second thought was, "And neither he nor I would have it any other way." Today, as I watched the F-16s from Buckley fly over during Sterling, Colorado's beautiful memorial service, I felt a great pride in knowing that those planes were up there because my precious son, and others like him, had helped launch them into the air and would be responsible for making them safe to fly the next sortie--hopefully, just another training mission or memorial fly-over, but knowing that they would be ready to defend our nation at a moment's notice. Later that day, I went to my teaching job at a correctional institution. I worried what I would say if any of those "hardened criminals" said anything about my beloved country in a negative way. They were crying and consoling me and worrying about Jonathan because they knew that my son had just left for the Air Force the day before. My prayers continue to be with the survivors, the families of the fallen, and for our leaders as we continue to seek those who dare try to destroy this wonderful country. She asked me did I hear? I said "What?" Anyway, to cut a dialogue short, she informed me that there was plane crashes in the USA. I asked "Who was it? The Taliban?" Anyway, we were late and she left me hanging at guessing who it was as we rushed to class. During class, my mind was numb and I thought "oh, this could lead to a WW3". I couldn't concentrate and the air in the room felt heavy and thick. I tried to listen to fellow classmates assignments but my mind was numb. During teabreak, I rushed up to the library to check on the internet news what had happened. Sure enough, there was a picture of the Twin Towers being engulfed by flames on the front cover of the CNN internet site. I looked up who was behind the attacks and found that it was Bin Laden as the main suspect. I also read about the attacks on the Pentagon and a failed "assumed" attack on the Whitehouse. Later that evening.... when I got back home, every single channel on the television was constantly showing the attacks on the Twin Towers over and over and over......... MEDIA- I ask that next time there is a major attack or tradegy in America, that the media, please DO NOT constantly bombard us over and over and over with the same images. Think of what this is doing to the minds and hearts of the victims families, children, etc. It is only now, that after 6 months, after watching a documentary about the construction of the Twin Towers and knowing how many people died in the Twin Towers, that I feel some empathy and sympathy of sadness at the loss of so many lives. It's also sad to know that people are willing to destroy themselves because of religion, war, hatred and take so many innocent people with them. :( And that is my story of September 11, 2001.
