We stayed at the WTC Marriott, with a 17th-floor room overlooking the WTC plaza. I remember that when I took this picture, I literally had to get down in a complete crouching position, just to be able to capture Tower 1. I recall how majestic and incredibly tall these two towers were -- it was breathtaking, really. This photo is one of my most cherished pics. Being so high off the ground gives one a feeling of vulnerability and I was mindful of the 1993 bombing during the visit. It was ironic that they had closed off the roof obseration deck that day for safety reasons. I remember the model of lower Manhattan, and that the men's bathroom had black marble in the stalls. I also remember looking at the kinetic billiard ball gadget that was there. I wish I had bought a souvenir at the time. This picture was taken from the ferry in February 2001, 7 months before the attacks. We stayed in the Marriott at WTC and visited the top of the towers. The school had another trip planned for Feb. 2002, but was cancelled.
