Word of the tragedies quickly circulated across the workroom floor at the Nacogdoches Post Office on the morning of September 11, 2001. Coworkers and I listened intently to the news, but continued with our duties. I am a letter carrier for the U S Postal Service in Nacogdoches, Texas. Coworkers and the customers I came in contact with that day were in a state of shock, not realizing or grasping the magnitude of the incidents. It was difficult to imagine the reality of the situation. Every person I met that day wanted to share news and remain fully-informed. Some of my freedoms have been challenged. Workplace security has been updated. I think about travel and personal security in different and more cautious ways than I did before September 11, 2001. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? The patriotism and comradery shown by the people of our nation should be remembered. The tremendous outpouring of sympathy for the victims' families and friends as well as the massive rescue and recovery efforts should not be forgotten. The government's and all Americans' commitment to carry on their everyday expectations despite the tragedy of September 11, 2001 should be remembered. Also, the condemnation of the acts of terrorism by other countries and peoples, offering their solid support of justice to prevail over the ones responsible, should be remembered. Everywhere I turned my eyes in Nacogdoches, I saw American flags. American flags were on cars, trucks, bicycles, in windows, on doors, on clothes, and anywhere people could find to place a flag. There are American flags at work and all along my route. I now take a longer look at the American flag than I did before the tragedy. I think the American flag is the prettiest flag and most symbolic flag. The stars and alternating red and white stripes on the American flag signify the unified spirit of the people of the United States, made more strong by the events of September 11, 2001. WTC attack My Story by Richard Fern…9-11-2001 I was in the Euro Brokers computer room of 2 WTC on the 84th floor where I am employed as an IT Manager when I noticed the lights flicker. I did not hear anything because of the loud AC units that cool the room. I went out to the Trading Floor and saw all the Brokers clamoring by the North side windows screaming that a bomb had just exploded across from us in 1 WTC. When I looked out the windows I saw the flames and papers coming from the upper floors across from us. I then went by my office where I was again watching the papers and flames. At this moment CNN was reporting that a plane had flown into the 1 WTC. The Port Authority Emergency PA system was then announcing, that a plane had accidentally crashed into 1 WTC and 2 WTC was secure. I went back to the window and was looking down for debris from the wreckage but later learned I was looking at the opposite end of where the plane went in. About this time people started jumping from 1 WTC to escape the flames. I returned to the Trading floor to I saw one of the partners, Brian Clark. I told him I had seen people jumping from the other building. Brian then went to the window when more people where jumping. Both of us turned away in disbelief at what we where witnessing. I told Brian I was leaving and went back to my desk. The Port Authority Emergency PA system was now announcing if you wish to leave you can. I then headed for the elevator pushed the hall button and stepped in when the 2nd plane crashed into my building throwing me first into the left wall then the right wall landing on the floor on all fours in the dark. I then jumped from the elevator before the doors could close and risk being trapped, now I headed for the nearest emergency stairway opening the door to find it unlit and filled with smoke. I started running down the stairs following the white glow in the dark stripe on the steps. When I arrived on the 78th floor I was shocked to discover the stairs ended. I reached along the wall and found a door handle and was relieved to find that it opened and saw daylight coming from the opening. Upon entering I heard someone yell do not go down that staircase, use this one. I walked briskly to where I heard the voice coming from and passed a woman who was bleeding and being helped by a man, but otherwise OK. I then started down the next staircase; I was moving quickly and passing people on the staircase. I then turned a corner and saw a woman and man standing on the steps in front of a wall that fell in from the explosion and blocked the way. They said to me that they could not pass. I did not even acknowledge them; I just put my hands under the wall and lifted. The wall came up and came to rest on the banister, just enough for us to crawl under. I continued down to the next floor where a smaller portion of a wall had fallen and blocked the stairs. I jumped from the stairs on top of the wall and rolled over onto the landing and continued my descent. Further down I ran into another co-worker Peter whom I was about to pass. He stopped me and said, We should stay together. I remember responding, OK but he would have to keep up with me. About this time I switched my 2 -way radio to the channel our Facilities people use. I heard one of our security person Jerry who was outside the building calling Dave who is in communications department. Dave was still in the building telling Jerry that there was a lot of smoke and to send help. At the time I was surprised we did not see many people in the stairway. But thinking back a lot of people must have left when the 1st plane struck. When we reached the 30th floor my legs where shaking and I was concerned that I would collapse, but I kept on going. When we reached the bottom we were directed out of the building by Port Authority Police and Security people. We exited on Church Street by Borders Book store. As we walked up Fulton Street along side the church cemetery Peter stopped and started to look up at the building. I grabbed him and said lets move before something falls on us. We continued to Broadway then up to Park Row stopping in front J & R electronics store where a group of Euro Brokers employees where gathering. Peter and I separated. I then sat down on the curb before I would collapse. I stopped in a Deli on Beekman Street to purchase a liter of water. I was surprised when the clerk charged me $1.59, since I was covered from head to toe with soot and ash. I walked to the Barbershop where I normally get my Haircut. When I entered the door Antonella helped me into one of the chairs and another Barber wiped me down with wet cold towels. I was now asking if I could use the phone to call my wife Christina. Unable to reach her I called my mother in Brooklyn and told her I was OK and to call home for me. While resting I would listen to the radio and could still hear Dave saying his situation was grim and pleading for someone to help. I then decided I would leave Manhattan and walk over the Brooklyn Bridge and go to Christinas cousin Joe store on the other side. As I was preparing to leave, we heard a most deafening rumble, which sounded much like a jet going overhead. People in the street were screaming that a 3rd jet was going to crash. I walked into the back of the Barbershop till the noise stopped. We now learned that one of the Towers had fallen. I also noticed that I did not hear Dave anymore. I then thanked Antonella and told her she should leave herself. I headed towards South Street and when I reached the corner a crowd of people where rushing towards me. I ran ahead of them down Nassau Street stopping in front of Pace University resting on a parked car. I then spotted a tremendous cloud of dust and ash coming towards me. I knew I did not have the energy to make it to the Bridge before getting caught in the cloud. I ran instead into the University just in time as the cloud grayed out the sun. Security people directed us to the rear of the building where I took refuge in a stairwell with other Students and a businessman. Two of the students wanted to leave the building and run for the Bridge, I warned them that they should not since we had no idea of what the dust contained and it could be harmful. I then heard Jerry on the Radio calling for anyone. I answered him and told him to get away from the area and go home. The dust was now settling and the sun returned. I removed my shirt and cut the tail off with my pocketknife to make a dust mask, the businessman did the same with his tee shirt. We wished each other good luck and left the building. I walked towards the Bridge and stopped by Policemen who were handing out surgical masks, and was directed to the shortest way to get on the Bridge walkway. By now I am walking over the Brooklyn Bridge and trying to reach Christina by cell phone which up to now did not work. I was able to call Joe and asked him to contact Christina and let her know I was OK. As I was approaching the middle of the Bridge I again heard another rumble like before and the 2nd Tower started to fall. I looked for a moment but turned away. I did not want to watch, and then started to jog but could not. After exiting on the Brooklyn side I was walking by the Red Cross building where an ATF agent carrying a shotgun was gesturing people to the other side of the street away from the building because they were getting too close. The walk to the store took about 5 minutes. I then collapsed on a box against the wall. I started to watch CNN and they kept showing the 2nd plane going in and then the buildings falling. It was about 12:15 when I was going home from school and my mother had the radio on and there wasnt any music for a good 20 minutes. Then I started to listen to what was being said and I heard that two planes struck the World Trade Center Buildings and that a plane struck the Pentagon as well. It was shocking at first because it seemed unreal and I didnt believe it. Then when I got home and put the television on and there was news on almost every channel about what was said on the radio. It affected my life a lot because I knew friends who either had family or friends on one of those planes. NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. I was getting ready to move in to a new house on that morning. I was collecting some paint brushes when my father came in and told me that there had been an accident in NYC and a plane had hit a building. I was pretty shocked but thought there must have been some mistake in the coverage. An accident like that couldn't happen with all the modern technology in use today. I went to my parents place and got in just as the second plane hit. Like everyone else I knew that it wasn't an accident. Needless to say I didn't get any work done on the house that day. After a half hour of watching I called a friend who was at work and asked him "Have you heard what's going on out here?" He said they had heard rumors but wasn't sure how much was true and I explained to him that yes, it was true, and that the 1st tower of the WTC had just fallen. Other people at work called as they day when on wanting to get factual updates of what was happening. I couldn't blame them because the rumors they were getting were pretty wild. Sadly some of them, the second tower falling, were real. There is a message board at work where the different shifts could put up important bits of information that the others needed to know. On that night I drew a US flag at half mast and added "NY, PA, DC 9-11-2001." It stayed on the board until November. I used to think that every generation would have one moment of unification. For my parents it was where they were when Kennedy was assassinated. I thought for my generation it would be when Reagan was shot, then when the Challenger exploded, and know it's 9/11. From there on the teachers kept talking about the attacks how they happene, when it happened and who the terriost were. From there on out i watched history in the making on TV and saw how everything happened from the first world trade center to the second to the pentagon. I live in the Isle of Man and I was in my last lesson at school for the day and my friend was listening to the radio beside me and he just started crying quietly. I asked him what was the matter and he told me that the World Trade Centre North Tower has been hit by terrorists. I listened to the News Special on the Radio and we raced home as fast as we could. when I walked into my home, my mother was in floods of tears. I walked to the Tv and flopped in a chair and just cried my eyes out. I couldn't believe that anybody could do such a horrible thing. I cried my eyes out for all the poor people killed. I watched the news for the next 4 hours solid and have fully stood behind what America has done in response. I fully support George Bush and his administration. NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. I was sitting in the doctor's waiting room in Buffalo,,NY, with my 2 year old son. We had been on vacation in Florida and the last day of the trip, my son had a seizure. We flew home on September 8th. My husband took off for a flight to SanDiego on September 9th for a business conference. I had made a follow-up medical appointment for my son for the morning of September 11th. We were watching television in the waiting room when pictures appeared of the damage from the first plane that hit the WTC. I remember Bryant Gumbel, I remember the people around me wondering if a small private aircraft had mistakenly collided into the building. I remember feeling ice water running through my veins and telling anyone who would listen to me that this was a terrorist attack. Then we all saw the second plane hit. Then there was shocked silence. Employees from all the medical offices filtered out into the waiting room...people were terribly silent, some were crying...and gradually, quietly everyone left until it was just my son and me sitting alone in that waiting room. I didn't know what to do...my first thoughts were for my son...to make sure he got the medical treatment he needed before I set foot out of that building...not knowing what was going on...I feared that maybe we would not be able to return. So I begged the office staff to find a doctor to check on him before I left. People in the doctor's office were openly weeping. One employee's fiance was supposed to be in the WTC. The doctor examined my son, and that is when I started to cry. My husband was in San Diego, my God what is happening? I stepped back into the main office...the clerk told me the towers collapsed...they what? I couldn't digest the horror. I am confused by the sequence of events during part of this... it was surreal. The pentagon was hit. I had no words to console the shocked receptionist who collapsed into a waiting room chair as she looked at the horror. I went out into the parking lot with my son, determined to get his medicines before we went home. In the middle of the parking lot was a woman holding her cell phone and openly weeping. She just had heard from her husband who was supposed to be on a plane from Boston, MA...thank God he was okay...I held her and comforted her as she sobbed with relief. I lost all innocence regarding the veil of contentment of living the average American life. I am sadder. I am angrier, but not so much at the terrorists as at the events that led up to such an attack, and our nation's response. I now can find Afghanistan on a map, I am horrified that we sent them weapons, but have not tried to help this impoverished nation by sharing our wealth. I wonder if in sharing food, supplies, education...we could have prevented Afghanistan from becoming the breeding ground for terrorism? I am outraged at the Patriot Act, the watering down of our Constitution, the attempts to govern us with fear, and so deeply saddened at the wars waged in repsonse to our American fear. For a brief moment in time, we became a country united, I felt the embrace of other nations as they sent forth their condolences. I felt proud of people unifying to do what they could to be of comfort to each other. I felt the walls disintegrate on the morning of September 11th as I embraced a total stranger in a parking lot and consoled her. My wish is that America would learn to be more generous to countries that need our support, our food, our resources...that is how we fight terrorism. My wish is that our nation would learn to not share weapons, to not breed more Osama bin Ladens and to not judge harshly people of many faiths. NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. I was watching the Today show, when the news broke that one of the towers was on fire. I kept thinking that a small plane must have hit the building, and of course, at that point, I thought it was an accident. But then, while watching the 1st tower burn, I noticed another plane come into view, and at first, I couldn't see that it had hit the 2nd tower. I just thought, "Oh my God", what's going on? When they announced that plane had hit the 2nd tower, I remember just losing my breath, and feeling chills run up and down my spine, and right away, without hesitation, I knew that our country was being attacked. I remember telling my daughter, "We're going to be at war". NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. For the first couple of months after the 11th, any time I would hear a plane go by overhead, I would get deathly afraid, especially at night. I remember how afraid I felt for my children, and wondering what the future will hold for us all. I am definitely more fearful now than I was in the past. It will always be remembered as a day of great sadness for those that lost their lives, because we will never forget the people who died on that day. But America also grew stronger on that day. The phrase "United We Stand" became the truth of September 11th. No terrorists will ever take that away from us. We will fight for our freedom at any cost. Yes, immediately, on that day I think. That was one of the first things I thought to do. I was hoping that every household in America would be flying the flag. My feelings about the flag haven't really changed, except now when I look at it, I really see it, and see what it stands for. That flag represents freedom. Now when I see the flag flying, I think of the policemen, and firefighters, and all those who lost their lives on that day so that we can enjoy our freedom. Our freedom is priceless. On 9/11 I was doing my usual route from Staten Island to lower Manhattan which had already taken me past the WTC earlier in the morning on a previous trip.My schedule normally put me in front of the WTC about the same time as the second plane hit.I was late due to the bus ahead of me being involved in a minor accident. I had to take on his passengers plus my own regulars.While driving over the Verazzano bridge into Brooklyn I noticed smoke coming from the north tower. I mentioned it and a passenger standing next to me said that was where he worked. He called his office and got thru to someone and found out a plane had hit the building. I recall him telling the person to get every one out of the office ASAP. I never saw the passenger again and always wonder ifhis co-workers survived.we only made it as far as the high point of the Gowanas expressway before traffic came to a complete stop. We were in the left lane and what seemed like every emergency vehicle,public and private,was racing past us into the Battery tunnel.The Manhattan side of the tunnel is only 3 blocks from the Trade Center.While we sat there a female passenger in the front seat noticed an airliner flying across the harbor from Staten Island. Before anyone could react the plane slammed into the south tower,the one closest to us.Our position on the hiway was only about a mile and a half from the building.People started screemingwanting to get off the bus fearing that there were other planes and we could become targets.It took a bit of effort to keep them on the bus.A few minutes after the second plane hit burning peices of paper began to fall like rain around us.We finally got off the hiway about a half hour later and it took 5 hours to get back to Staten Island via Brooklyn streets. I feel the best memorial would have been to rebuild the towers on their original footprints using modern technology. Show the world that a terrorist act was not going to make us run and hide. I served during the Viet Nam War. I flew the flag before 9/11 and do so since with just as much if not more pride as I always have. A week into school in fourth period I heard the news about the twim towers. I overheard the teachers talking about it and at first I didn't believe it, but next period I really recognized it. That whole period our teacher talked about and our principle talked to all the students. I was shocked and scared and i heard quiet sobs and screams from the classroom nextdoor. At the time, I wasn't even sure what the World Trade Center and the Pentagon were. Now I will never forget. Everyone, including me, was very confused. The rest of the day, it was the only thing anyone could think about. When I got home, my family talked about it over dinner. I couldn't get the image of the planes crashing into the buildings, out of my head. Before I went to sleep, I listened to the radio on my headphones. It was terrible to think about how most of the people in those towers would never wake up to go to work again. They would never see their families, and they would never know exactly how they died. I have a lot more respect for the people of New York. I have also seen how strong the United States of America can be in the time of a crisis. They should remember how the U.S.A. pulled together, along with the other nations of the world. They should remember how the whole country supported the victims' families, and the people of New York. FROM A DISTANCE in Memphis,Tennessee VIA television...It was unbelieveable,a "War of the Worlds" broadcast, then the impact of what IS happening...My neighbor banged on the door in almost a state of fear and shock..."What is Happening?"..."Are we under attack?"...She was crying so I gathered strength to calm her... Got some coffee, stayed glued to the TV. The questions and disbelief resounded in my mind...These people, who in the name of "Alla" ie God , how could they ?....Greed, Jealously, in the name of "Alla" destroyed LIFE, "a sin in that religion"....to sacrifice for loyality to a mentally sick demonic man... As time passed, from 9/11/01 to 9/ll/02 and the anniversary, I viewed the Firefighters message on TV , his reiteration of his experience, and the fact that the NY Mayor and City Gov. were not leaning toward any type of monetary compensations to these brave men and those who follow, arose the questions again...about our leaders and their greed...I can say truthfully that IF our US, Sate and City Government Leaders and workers made at retirement only what Social Security and One Retirement Job would pay then perhaps the Schools and Sate Governments would have enough in the budgets without Increasing, Taxes, more and more. It is ludricus that some Officials can reitre with 500,000 to 2 million dollars a year,the burden, which is "toted" by the middle class tax payers and poor!... The anouncements came on and told the teachers to turn on the tv to a certin channel during their planning period. In 4th period they let us watch it. At first a lot of my friends and I thought it was just a movie to freak us out, but then the looks of terror on the peoples faces proved otherwise. I couldn't belive what was happening. A bunch of people were getting checked out or begging to call their parents to make sure everyone in their family's were oaky. It was really horrioble. I don't say the pledge because I have always been forced to say it. The morning of September 11, 2001, I was at my job in the Bethesda Naval Hospital complex where I worked as a data quality department head for the Naval Medical Information Management Center. I was in the tower of the hospital which was built under FDR, visiting my colleague, a data quality manager for the National Naval Medical Center, LCDR Robert Doyle, with a senior colleague from the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery. We were about to sit down to discuss a new program to revolutionize what we were doing based on LCDR Doyle's efforts. In our conference room, there was an old Zenith console color TV, 20", and LCDR Doyle turned it on to CNN. He, my colleague from BUMED, and I were all from New Jersey. LCDR said: "The World Trade center is on TV and it's burning. It was hit by a plane." No one knew what was going on. I was brand new at my job in the Navy. We watched in horror, completely diverted from the task at hand, as the second airplane hit. My colleague from BUMED asked me, "Who do you think hit them?" I said I guessed it was Bin Laden. I'd heard the good leader of the opposition in Afghanistan had been slain just a week earlier. The meeting was cancelled. People asked me to use my cell phone to contact people during the crisis. Loved ones, family members. The first person I called was my friend who lived in Arlington that I knew from the Peace Corps in Africa. He was OK. He said he could hear the Pentagon get hit. He worked in downtown Arlington in Ballston for the BBB. I called my wife. She had just lost her job a week before and was at home. We waited anxiously for our boy to come home from school. My colleague from BUMED took over my cell phone to call downtown Washington. We began to search work for bombs. Then, one of my employees drove me home. The metro might have gas in it, he said. That employee retired less than four months following the incident. He drove me to a Perkins restaurant where I waited for my wife to come out in our all wheel drive vehicle. That Perkins had a big flag flying from it. I just told him to drop me there because of the flag. I wanted to be near one. My wife came out from our house a few minutes later and drove me home. We didn't live far from the interstate. We then just went out on our deck. It was a gorgeous day, warm and clear skiied, except for the Marine Two helicopter that passed overhead and the fighter planes that were scrambled making low flying runs and engines piercing the sky with their distinctive vapor trails. I just fell asleep. The day was so quiet. That night, I sat around watching TV and staying in the house, and the next day, I went to work early. The skies overhead were criss crossed with vapor trails, and that morning, I developed a rash. I had to be seen by a doctor a few days later. He was an old Greek American physician who gave me a course of prednisolone tablets for it. He said I was probably allergic to terror. How beautiful it was that so many Americans cared about their nation, flying the flags from anything that would hold it. My Chapel Assistant, Oral and I were in the city limits of Hurstsboro, Alabama when we stopped to see another old friend who told us by the roadside about the New York attacks. By the time we made a call at the home of a former Chaplain at Valley Rescue Mission, Columbus, Ga., where we were visiting a dying mother of dear friends, the televison was giving us the latest reports. Our hearts went out to the people in the holocaust and especially the survivors. Like so many,we soon learned of local people who had been in the Trade Center and Pentagon or who had friends and/or relatives in the midst of the terror. Although we are many miles from "Ground Zero", we have kept faith and support with those who suffered the greatest and most immediate losses even as our own Rescue Agency had to absorb fincancial and material losses in the months following. Our Community most generously rose to the occasion in support of NYC, DC, and Pennsylvania as well as local Helping Agencies. On 9/11/2002 as we spent time in silence at the Anniversary hour with about fifteen men in our Drug and Alcohol Recovery Ministry and then sang and shared with Staff and Residents at the local Oak Manor Nursing Home with fire fighters, police officers, and military representatives from near by Fort Benning, Ga., I was deeply moved by the sympathy, testimonies of life changes, prayers, and close fellowship among people of varied backgrounds gravitating around a mutual Memorial. We are moving on. We pray for people who still live with the up close and personal in the attack areas; thank God for the heroes that are rising and trust we will all have the resolve to see this battle through regardless of time involved and cost to our comfort. It was not until then we had heard about the attacks. My tacher, Ms.Vartan, turned on the T.V. as me and the rest of my classmates watched in horror. I didn't really understand what was going on until I got home later that day after school. My mother and father explained it to me and we watched(again and again) as the World Trade Center fell to ground zero. Now that I am older and able to understand I now know what impact 9:11 has had on our country as a whole and how we need to stand together in times of heartache and pain. I was administering the ISTEP (Indiana high school graduation exam) at the high school where I teach. I went to our principal's office to get extra pencils, when I saw his television on and views of the first plane in the World Trade Center. At that time, no one could tell me exactly what was happening. Most believed it was an accident. If only that had been true. At lunch, my husband, an EMT, took time out of his day to visit with our 13 month old daughter. It was then, that I truly learned the impact of this unbelievably evil act. I felt completely off balance. As a wife of someone in emegency services, my heart ached for the families of the firefighters, police officers, EMTs, and paramedics that were missing and presumed dead. I felt as though the ground had been ripped from below me. Were any of us safe? Why? Why? Why? The people affected had just gone about their daily business. Most were hard working individuals, just trying to make a living to support themselves or their families. The other questions ringing in my mind were what kind of world did I bring my daughter in to? What kind of life is she going to have? Will she ever feel the safety and security that I had grown up feeling? Why? Why? Why? NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. Not as drastically as I first believed it would. Being in the Midwest has a sense of security. Maybe it's a false sense, I don't know. I've ALWAYS appreciated my family, but this made me appreciate them so much more. I gained even more respect for my husband's job as an EMT and I am not as naive in assuming he will always come home from at the end of his shift. I appreciate each sunrise, each breath. I cherish the time with my loved ones, particularly my husband and daughter (now two). God has blessed me in so many ways. I thank Him everyday! I pray that families in the U.S. never have to experience such horrible, meaningless loss again. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? The feeling that we are untouchable. We are actually very vunerable. We may not see our families at the end of the day so make the time you have with them count. NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. September 11th was a terrifying day for all americans. It began as just another ordinary day. We were all sitting in class at Thompson Middle School. I was doing a section review for social studies. Then it all began. Television sets clicked on in everyone's room. Every channel was tuned into to CNN. There had been a terrorist attack on our country. A passenger planbe had been hijacked and crashed into the World Trade Center. Everyone was astonished that this was happening again. People on the TV were running through the streets on New York screaming and crying out for help. Everyone was basically in a state of confusion. Those of us sitting at home wanted to help or do anything for the situation but we didn't know what. Then momentarily after that another plane crashed into the second World Trade Center tower. Then later after that we heard of another plane crashing into the Pentagon. All airports had been shut down. All businesses had been stopped. Then after that another plane had been hijacked and crashed somewhere in Pennsylvania. Thousands of lives were taken in an instant that day. There were so may people that had been lsot that day. Our country came together as one and fought back and we are still fighting back strong today. All of these events that took place a year ago today leave me with one question... Why? Why would anyone want to do something so violent and terrifying? These terrorist attacks still astonish and amaze me today. Before the events of September 11th i didn't really think about all of the priveleges that we have in tour wonderful country. We have so mant freedoms and choices. I have definently become more of a patriotic person than i was before. I have also become more aware of what actually goes on aorund the worlds between different countries. I became very interested in what all was on TV and the news. I wanted to learn more about it and become more aware of the threats of terrorists. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? EVERYTHING! There were so many people who helped out during this time. Ther were so many volunteers that wanted to hepl out in any and every way that thye could. People were lined up to give blood. But, one of the most important things that should be remembered is definently all of the firemen, policemen, etc. Ther were many that lost there life and there were many that saved a life. Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? About 5 or 6 says after the events of September 11th i went out to look for a flag. But there was one small problem... There were none to be found. All the stores that i went to were sold out of them. I had to search and search till i oculd find one. We finally did find one and we went out and bought a new flag pole and everything. We still fly our flag today in honor of those who died a year ago.
