As a believer in a Higher Being I was comforted that the angels of God received each and every soul that perished.

As an American and an ex-Marine I salute a nation that stands tall and united in the face of this adversity.]]> ON THIS DAY AND FOR ALWAYS..]]> In response to these feelings, I felt the need to be proactive and wanted to encourage people to come back to Chinatown and support the neighborhood. With the help of a close friend, the result was the creation of a button with an image we felt, represented Chinatown and the nearby communities. In the weeks following 9/11, I distributed these buttons to friends and acquaintances from outside the area. The idea was for them to wear the buttons as a sign of solidarity and encourage their friends and acquaintances to come downtown and help revitalize the local economy.

I started with real Afghanistan postage stamps for the "World Day of Tourism" (in french) and transformed them into the "World Day of Terrorism." "Postes Afghanes" became "Postes Taliban" featuring Usama bin Laden rather than a cultural monument of Afghanistan. Featured is a prominent map of the country that few of us knew existed and all came to know so extensively. Featured in the foreground is a scale model of the WTC that I bought after the event as if to preserve some memento or piece of the missing buildings. In front of the buildings it says "Warning" in English and Arabic. In the upper right corner, my American Flag, is taken from a garment made in the USA. So in the brief time it took me to try to hold on to the vanished WTC, the Afghan War that followed became instrinsically linked with it forever.]]>
