Tell us your story: Getting ready to leave the house Tuesday morning to see one of my clients for a massage therapy session, I heard an explosion which shook the house. First thought was to call Fairfax County to alert them, then thought a noise that loud would already have their attention. On the way to my client's house, I turned on the news and was horrified to hear that the Pentagon had been hit. Not until I arrived at my client's house did I find out it was a plane, and about the WTC as well. My client and I were both flight attendants for United, and were again horrified to watch the coverage of th 2nd tower being hit. I cannot remember when or what we found out about the Pennsylvania crash. We went ahead with the massage session with the TV on, and cried together as it became clear that at least one UAL flight waent down. We would later find out that we knew most of the flight attendants on both UAL planes, as well as some of the pilots. Neither of us was surprised at the attacks, as many of us had just been waiting for the inevitable to happen, and for the terrorists to choose the airlines they did: AMERICAN and UNITED. We are bonded by this sharing of the events as they occurred, and will never forget that day. I retired from United Airlines the following April 1st, 33 years to the day that I began my career. Tell us your story: On what began as a beautiful Tuesday morning, I noticed people at work starting to become agitated with some kind of important news. When I found out what it was all about, I joined a group in front of a small tv to witness an unbelievable sight - the first building of the World Trade Center had been struck by an airplane. There was a lot of speculation about what could have happened. I said, "terrorism", without having any idea of who could have committed the act of terrorism - I just felt it couldn't be an accident. When the second tower was hit, that confirmed it for me and for everyone else. Then the images of the attack were played over and over again on the news. Every time I saw it, it was just as shocking a sight as if it had just happened. That day, and the days to follow was like living a bad dream, an unbelievable existence. Now, almost a year later, I think, what's next? What will a misguided group of terrorists do next to demonstrate their hatred for us? But with any apprehension comes comfort in my conviction that we will prevail. I believe this is a great country blessed by God, and that no matter what, in the end, good will prevail over evil. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: The thing that stuck with me most that day the persistant feeling of helplessness and confusion. A frightening vulnerability that showed upon the faces of almost everyone I met. Some of my co-workers watched the tragic events take place on a television in the office. I remember hacking away furiously on my computer to send updates throughout the office, and to log on to the internet to get more information. Entering into websites that had live and updated news coverage was nearly impossible due to the traffic. When I was finally able to SEE the destruction for myself, a terrible sadness came over me. The sight of the people jumping from the Towers, and the flame and smoke, and the reports of the calls that came from the planes, the loss of so many beautiful lives. It was heartbreaking. I couldn't help thinking, "This will be another shot heard around the World...", it was obvious that this horrifying event would touch the lives of everyone on Earth. I felt so small. I wanted to help each and every one of those people. I knew that the best thing I could do is pray The Lord for recovery, and keep faith that, just as the advocates of destruction were busy that day, so were the disciples of The Lord and Saviour. During the most disturbing times in our lives, times where our very existence appears fragile, our desires insignificant, and our fears manifested, our faith is put under extreme duress and even the strongest of wills may need strength and support to endure such tribulation. I've found that the most everlasting source of fortitude, is The Word of God, and that there is no greater means of support than Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. No matter your religion, no matter what name you know him by, (Allah, Jehovah, Buddha....), his hand is never changing. So I offer to those who will accept, HIS word, that it may bring them courage, strength and comfort, as it has me so many, many times. Word had just gotten out that the World Trade Center was attacked, and that the EPA might evacuate. Once the Pentagon was also struck, the EPA decided to evacuate all employees. For me the tragedy was doubly painful: I was simulaneously mourning and accused. A native of Oklahoma, I recalled the reaction to the Oklahoma City bombing. Muslims in Oklahoma lived in fear until Timothy McVeigh was caught. My mosque was vandalized, and nearby mosques sustained gunfire. I joined the sea of people who took the Metro that day, while some preferred to walk because of rumors that the Metro could be a target. As I entered the Metro, a well-intentioned gentleman advised me to remove the head-scarf I wear as a Muslim woman. "No," I told him. He asked me if I knew what happened, and told me that crazy people might attack me. "Yes," I said, "I work in a federal building, but I will not remove my scarf out of fear. I revere God and God alone." Before entering, a Muslim man approached me. "Sister, you shouldn't travel alone dressed like that." Probably not, I thought, but what other option did I have? That day, the Metro was more crowded than I had ever seen it during rush hour, yet I noticed several hesitated to sit next to me, until finally someone did. Had I suddenly become dangerous? When I left, I ran into a stranger who cursed at me then screamed, "I'd hate to be you!" For the next several days, I felt I lived in two worlds. One comprised of my family and friends with whom I could share my horror at the loss of innocent life, including my own Professor Leslie. The other world consisted of strangers who stared at me in anger and disgust, as if I had somehow been an accomplice. For weeks, I hesitated over whether to smile or stay grim-faced, as either seemed equally ill-received. If I smiled, strangers might consider me happy for what had happened. If I did not, I could be guilty or threatening. I continue to pray for justice and compassion everywhere. As did Martin Luther King, Jr., I dream of a day when Muslim will not be judged by their appearance but by the content of their character. Because I work at night I was asleep when the terrorists attacked, so my wife called to let me know what was happaning. And then like most Americans I spent the rest of the day glued to the T.V. Then I went to work at the paper and helped put out one of the "The Virginian Pilot's" most historic papers. How has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. I don't feel our country is as safe as I used to think. I feel like we're more vulnerable. What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? I think we should remember the way the country pulled together to help the victims of the attacks. I also think we should remember the heroism of the firefighters, the policeman, and the passengers on the flight 93. The first time we got married, was Febuary 7, 1997, and the second time was August 21,2001. We were only married this time for only about two weeks, and were already separating. I was pregnant with our second child. I loaded up my car with as much stuff as I could, one night after having a very bad arguement. Then, that night my three year old daughter and I got on the road at about 11:00p.m. leaving Virginia Beach going home to Natchitoches, La. an 18 hour drive. I was only home for about three days when the tragedy began. I remember going to my mothers house one morning and my entire family was in front on the T.V. I thought it was very strange to see that because at that time in the morning, some of them would usually still be sleeping, especially my brother, he's a night owl. Then I turned around and looked at the television and saw that one of the towers were on fire. Like everyone eles, I thought maybe the plane was flying too low and it was an accident. Then, the second one hit. I knew then it wasn't an accident. My husband is in the military, so i called him to see how he was doing, because by then the pentagon was hit too. When we heard eachothers voice, we cried. He was crying of disbelief, and I was crying because we were going through this apart. The next day we talked about getting back together. Whatever we were argueing about was nothing compared to loosing a love one. There were so many people who lost their spouces. Not knowing that ,that morning was going to be the last time they saw eachother. Then there we were, ready to give up on soemthing that I'm sure so many wish they still had. Today is the aniversary of SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 and my husband and I are still together. I had a baby boy, we named him Gabriel. So many time today we have touch eachother and hugged eachother. Tell us your story: My name is MSgt Mickey Vickers an on 11 Sept 01 I was at my desk reviewing medical records when someone ran into it and said that the twin towers in New York City had been hit by two airliners. At that same instance I thought to myself how can two aircraft especially airliners crash into the towers over a big metropolitan area as New York City. Then the third crash came over the radio. I went to a TV in the Dental Clinic and started watching the coverage. It was horrifying to see bodies falling to get away from the flames. I started praying for those who had died and those left with probably injuries beyond belief. I watched as the firefighters and EMS and police went to the site of destruction and then the first tower collapsed and then the second. Tears flowed from my eyes knowing that those brave men and women would probably not come back home. As the day went on I probably worked only about 1 hour. I wanted to know was there survivors and were any of them the Firefighters, police, and EMS personnel. As the day went on miracles did happen and some did not. It reminded me of the distruction of the Murrah Building in OKC, Ok. Its hard to fly on commerical air for me now. I have flown military air for so long I know the pilots and crew and have no problem with them because I do their annual physicals and know their capabilities. I have sorrow for the children and wives and husbands who lost that shoulder to lean, afternoon baseball, financial support and just someone to talk to when you need that support. I'll never forget that day for the rest of my life and will remember those who died heroicly. They are the real heroes of today. We in the military salute you for your dedication to life and saving life. As a medical member I dedicate my life to you and will strive to keep your memory implanted in my life and the lives of those around me. I salute you with all my heart and soul. I was in the process of getting dressed wanted to know how cold it was outside so I went out to the lobby of my dorm and once in the lobby I noticed a bunch of people gathered around the T.V. area. I walked over and immediately was just as mesmerized and shocked as the others that were standing there. I looked at the tv just in time to see the World Trade Center crumble to the ground after a plane crashed into the side of it. I stood there for a few minutes and waited until it moved the camera angles to the ground and brushed it off and went back to my room. I finished getting dressed and went to the inauguration only to discover that one of my friends was not there because she was sure that her dad had been on that plane and was trying to find out for sure if he was or not. No one noticed because she slipped in the back during the middle of the ceremony but afterwards I saw her and she told me, with great relief, that her dad had not been on that plane. I went back to my dorm and began watching the whole thing on television and only after a news announcement did I remember my brother. My older brother is in the Army and is in Intelligence. I knew he would be fine and not directly affected but I still wanted to hear that he was okay. I called him right then but he wasn't in so I left him a message to call me ASAP! After I hung up I dialed my best friend, Tom's number, who is in the Marines Special Forces, and didn't get a response from him either. I then remembered that he was supposed to leave for Italy that day. I called his parents at his home and didn't get an answer there either. I left a message for them to call me back ASAP. I finally decided to call my parents and see how they were doing. After talking to my mom I felt better, but I started crying. I finally began praying, which is what I should have done in the first place. I poured my heart out to God telling him that even though I didn't understand what was going on I knew it had to be a part of His perfect plan and that everything was going to work out for His glory. I continued praying as I began reading my Bible. I remembered a song that had been playing earlier that morning as I had been getting dressed. "God is in Control" by Twila Paris. I thought back to the words and realized that it was so true. Later that night I got two phone calls. One from my brother and one from Tom's parents. Both brother and Tom were absolutely fine and completely safe. God really is in Control! My husband got up early, He works 40 hr weekends so he's home during the week. He had not had the television on, and while he was on the computer, he was working on a photoshop project, so he had not yet connected to the internet. When i got up, i turned on the televison, so the kids could watch cartoons. We could see right away that something had happened. They were mentioning airport or airports, and I thought that something had happened at Louisville international. They said something that wasnt right, it didnt sound right. We had come into the middle of it all and couldnt figure out what was happening. I had my husband connect to the net and go to yahoo's front page. I was looking over his shoulder. I said, "no, no, no!!!" and just started bawling.. All those people. 50 thousand people in those towers. By the time i found out about it, it was already over, but the horror of it all was just as if i had been sitting in front of the television, watching it all happen. The irony was if i had gotten up early, I would have been able to; usually it was me who got up first, and the first thing i did was turn the tv or the computer on. Because my father lost his job my family was left without a reliable source of income. Also, because of the fact that many airlines are now going bankrupt it is rather likely he will not get his job back and will be forced to take up a new trade. Another effect it has had is thatmy mother will have to begin working to support the rest of us. The final problem that has resulted because of September eleventh is that it is a day my family now hates. The phone rang and I was in to big of a hurry to answer it in fear that I might be late to work. So, I just left in a hurry and when I got to work I realized that something was very wrong. Everyone was in a state of shock and did not really know what was happening. We started to listen to the radio and then we closed down our ofice and went home to our families. When I got home I started calling everyone I new and making sure that they were okay. I wanted people to know that I love them. This event has changed my life forever! In so many ways I can not even begin to explain. I am just so sorry for all of those people that lost loved ones in this terrible tragic event!!!! Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: Well what can i say. Im a Long Island guy! Born and raised in Smithtown I loved New York City like I lived there. I know reside in Venice Fl, but I am proud to say I was born in the greatest state in the world. I love this state and I still love the 110 stories those towers brought. And on September 11, the day of my mothers birthday was also the day it had chaned americans life and specifically a new yorkers life. Walking into class and seeing the Twin Towers with the smoke around it made me feel 2inches tall. That was one of many great landmraks of NYC. That is something I will miss for ever. I am going to move back and I will always remember what stood there. Americans lives have changed, my life has changed but the Twin Towers will always be apart of New York and that is something that will never change. Tell us your story: It was a beautiful, hectic morning as I had taken the day off and was dropping my two-year old daughter, Kayla, off at school so that I could begin my day of errands. When I arrived at Kayla's school, it seemed like a normal Tuesday with teachers scurrying about and assisting those parents running late for work. As I made my way to the administrator's office to drop off paperwork, I heard someone state that a plane had lost control and hit one of the World Trade Centers. My immediate response was to pray, and I attributed the incident to a malfunction with the plane, but little did I know. As I left my daughter at her school, I got in my car, turned on the radio, and began to make my way through the city to my bank in Crystal City ? one of the first errands on my list. While listening intensely to the radio to find out more about this incident, traffic did not seem to bother me. As I approached the 14th Street Bridge, I saw a huge ball of smoke hovering above the Pentagon. I don't recall hearing a plane or seeing one, but the tragedy must have just happened since the enormous, black ball of noxious fumes and smoke was only a few feet above the Pentagon and rising. I wondered what was going on in DC. Bewildered, I continue to listen to the radio and asking aloud: ?What?s going on in DC?? Yet, nothing was mentioned. I passed by the horrific sight and made my way to the bank ? more or less on autopilot. When I reached the teller, I asked if she knew what was going on at the Pentagon and informed her of the sight that I had seen. The bank employee only knew that a plane had hit one of the World Trade Center towers. She then stated that a loud noise was heard but she was not sure of its origin. All the teller knew was that she was ready to leave due to the pensive state of all around her. For some odd reason I thought that I would get a better handle on the events from my bank since it is a Naval institution. Unfortunately, I believe I had a better grasp of what was going on than they did, which didn?t say much since I was still baffled. As I left the bank, I rushed to my car and turned on the radio to learn of any events that I may have missed, and to see if any news had broken regarding the Pentagon. By this time, another plane had hit the second World Trade Center, and shock was setting in on the East Coast. All sorts of rumors were being announced on the radio: A plane was heading for DC; a plane had hit the White House; a plane had hit the Capitol. I didn't know what to believe. My thought was that it wasn't any of those places announced on the radio. It was the Pentagon!!! Or were the White House and the Capitol hit as well? WE ARE AT WAR, I thought. My mind immediately went to my daughter who was at school. I needed to get to her. We are under attack, and I have to protect her. Now in my car leaving my bank in Crystal City, there is traffic ? bumper-to-bumper traffic. I am now in a controlled state of panic. ?Keep calm,? is what I tell myself. I need to reach my daughter. As I continue to listen to the radio, traffic inches along. It seems as though I am watching a movie about ?D Day? or some other destructive scene. People seem to be moving in slow motion. I realize that everyone seems to be listening to the same thing that I am listening to: America being attacked!!! All of a sudden traffic seemed to be at a standstill. Everyone had a look of disbelief on his or her face. Then, the radio announced that one of the World Trade Centers had collapsed and was no more. Tears started to flow. "What can I do? Where can I go?" were the thoughts that started to flood my mind. As I looked at all of the cars standing still, no one seemed to say a thing. No one blew a horn, no one moved. Tears were streaming from all of the faces in the cars that surrounded me. A devastating vision now engulfed my mind. Traffic is at a complete halt as I have now made my way around the block and in front of the Pentagon City Mall. Will I ever reach my daughter? As traffic creeps along, I begin to notice the herd of the people crossing the field and parkway in a concerted effort to escape the smoke and debris of the Pentagon. Some are walking as others run, but all have a look of terror on their faces. I am speechless and thoughtless witnessing this exodus as they gather with those who are leaving the surrounding buildings. All seem unsure of what to do next. As I sit in traffic, I begin to plot my course back across the bridge to my daughter. My journey started at 8:15 AM with dropping my daughter at school. It is now 9:45 AM, and I am stuck; we are under attack; and I have not a clue what will happen next. It seems as though I sit in traffic listening to everything going on in NYC but no one knows the horror that Washington, DC and the Pentagon are facing. The radio is still broadcasting that the plane hit the Capitol and the White House. No one knows that those within the Pentagon are under attack. Minutes turn into hours of sitting and inching along. Police have closed off all bridges leading into DC. How will I ever get to my daughter, continuously plays in my mind as I meditate on what to do. Finally, there is a break in traffic and I am able to make a U-turn, but a roadblock prevents me from going back across the 14th Street Bridge. All traffic is being detoured onto Route One, which takes me farther away from where I need to go. As I drive along Route One, I desperately look for a place to make a U-turn, but all of the turn lanes are blocked. As I pass Washington National Airport, it is eerily empty due to everyone being evacuated. Since there was no place for the group of displaced people to go, everyone hurried across the airport parking lot, across the parkway as far away as they could go. Finally, the crowd of hundreds rest along the parkway on the grassy hillsides in a state of disbelief. As I continue down Route One in my pensive mode, I pass a car that is stuck on the median in its attempt to make a u-turn, and I begin to cry and pray: "Lord, help me to get to my child!!!" I continue further down Route One and see an opportunity to make a U-turn. I take it. I speed back towards 14th Street Bridge praying that the police have not blocked the exit ramp onto the bridge. The closer I get to the bridge I notice that the ramp is not blocked. I take the ramp and race across the bridge with the absence of any traffic as I thank God for the "way out." Finally, I make my way back to the school, and my stress level decreases somewhat. The school staff seemed to be in a state of disbelief. There is an atmosphere of stress and the teachers are trying their best to keep a smile on their faces as to not raise fright in the children. Yet I notice the tension, stress, anxiety, and fear present in the faces of all the parents as they arrive to gather their children. I know they are wondering the same thing as I: How do we explain this horrific chain of events to our children? Do we keep it from them? What do we say if they ask? Are we truly at war? What will be the next target? I pray they don?t ask, and I won?t tell. The teachers have done an excellent job shielding the little ones from these events, and maybe I could make it home without Kayla asking any questions. My repetitive silent prayer: ?Lord, help us!? continues to ring within my head as I journey through the rest of this day wondering what will happen next and what destruction awaits me when I turn on the television. The first thing that ran threw my head was to get home to my son! After I got home I sat there and watched in horror at the things that were happening right before my eyes! I sat and cryed for days! Even though I didnt know anyone who died i still felt sorrow, for all of those victims, there families, and friends! I'm proud to say I am an American!!! Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I am originally from NYC and was living there when the Trade Center was built. It was the talk of the town. Anybody who was anybody went to "Windows on the World". I never could have imagined its fate. Fortunately for me, when 9/11 happened, I did not know that one of my dearest friends was supposed to be teaching a class on the 103rd Floor of Tower 2. I later found out that he had called a cab to take him to the train station in New Jersey and the cab never showed up. After expressing his anger to the cab company, he walked to the train station and caught the third train instead of the first, which was his usual schedule. While he was on that train coming from NJ, he saw the first, then the second plane hit the towers. He lost many people that day - all of students in his class and many coworkers. As for me, in addition to the horror that we all felt and witnessed, I felt a more personal stab in my heart because they hit my home town and they nearly killed my dear friend. They may have killed other people that I knew but still don't know about their passing. This still haunts me. And I never did make it to "Windows on the World". Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I was making my son breakfast before he left for school...he was in 2nd grade. I had the small t.v. on in our kitchen to catch the weather report...I never caught the weather report that day. The images of those planes hitting the world trade center had to be the scariest thing I have ever seen. Then the report of the Pentagon being hit. My husband, Steve, is in the Air Force Reserves, and after what I had just witnessed, I knew that we would be affected by it. No, we don't live in NY or DC, but we were going to be a part of all of this craziness, because I knew it had to be a terrorist attack. My son was intrigued by what we were seeing, but was still young enough to not be emotionally devastated by it, but I did explain that some bad guys flew those planes into those buildings. After I got him off to school, I left the house with my, then, 2 year old son. I had to leave, as our phone was ringing off the hook, people were stressed out, wanting to know if my husband would have to be deployed...but, I couldn't answer their questions, and I was trying to remain calm, for my kids mainly...it was very difficult. I wanted to go to NY and DC and help, but knew that wasn't feasible. I felt helpless, and wondered if anything else would happen. My husband was called to Active Duty, not immediately after the incidents, but later in 2002...he was gone to 2 different areas of the Middle East, and although that is one of the most stressful things we have ever had to endure, he or I wouldn't have done it any other way. He is a very proud American and I am very proud of him...and so are our 2 young sons. They were such good little troopers when he was gone, I am very blessed. To all the families who lost loved ones, I am sorry for you from the bottom of my heart...it was devastating. I can only imagine the sadness and disbelief you must have felt and still be feeling. I hope all of you are able to make sense of this life and keep on going...I know it can't be easy for you. I am grateful to have my husband back home for the time being, safe and sound...but please know this...with people like him in the military, your loved ones lives won't have been lost in vain...he will more than likely be going back over there, and we will be supportive of whatever he does. You didn't know the danger your loved ones were going into that day, but we know when he leaves on an airplane to go over there, he is in the face of danger. I remember haveing a strange feeling that morning and not wanting to go to school but as any other parent would have done, my mother sent me any ways. It is kind of funny because the class I had first period was U.S. History. I remember our Princible comeing over the entercome and tell all teachers with T.V.s to turn them on to the news, and others to go to the media center. He didn't say why though and I remember thinking that was very weird! So when the teacher turned on the news it was just in time for us to see the second plain crash! I don't think It realy sunk in at first about how terible this was. I had been in the school choir for three years, and the year befor all this happend my school had been selected to sing in the national youth choir there at N.Y. We stayed at the Mariot Hotel right there at the Twin Towers. Of course as your know, it burned up. We had to change classes and as I was going to second period all of this was going through my mind! Then we found out about the Pentagon and the other plain crash. I was so scard that Fort Bragg was next because I only live about 20-30 min.from there. As all of this was going on people were crying, hugging, and calling family. My sister-in-law had just had a baby and where home alone. My mom called the school to talk to me and make sure I was O.K. and then had me released from school so I could go and make sure my sister-in-law was O.K. I didn't loose anyone but I do want to send my love and support to all those who did!!! And I just want to let you know "What goes around, comes around!" They WILL get what they deserve!!!! But don't let hate keep you from living your life how you want. They can't take that from us! P.S. I just want to thank my mother for being a wounderfull person. She makes home made lolly pops and my choir sold them and raised 300 dollars which we sent it all to N.Y. to help the familys who had lost someone. She did a great thing and its people like her who make america a great place to live!!!!! Tell us your story: My husband and I were on vacation at his parents home in North Canton, Ohio,on September 11, 2001, we reside in Del Rio, Texas. We had just finished breakfast and I was on the computer in the Den, when my mother in law stated that an airplane had just crashed into the World Trade Center. She was watching a television on the kitchen counter. I thought it was strange, so I turned off the computer and went into the living room, to turn on the big screen television. I watched the first of the towers burning, and I called upstairs to my husband and asked him to come down and watch with us. All three of us, stood there as we saw the second airplane hit the second tower. I was in total shock, and we knew that it was not an air accident! Our plans were to return home by way of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the following day, where we planned to visit with my sons. I am a federal law enforcement officer, a Supervisory Customs Inspector and I began to wonder how this would affect my office and our operations. I could not leave the television set, I saw the two towers fall and people running and screaming. The entire day was full of accounts from all aspects. We also heard that a cellular phone call had been made from a third plane to a spouse, stating that the aircraft had been hijacked and that passengers had a plan to overcome the hijackers. We also heard that the plane was aimed at the White House in Washington, D. C. We heard that there was a fire at the Pentagon. I felt so sure that we would be immediately plunged into a war! The day went on, with accounts of injuries and deaths, which were reported in the thousands of lives. The day went on and my brother in law called and said that he had heard that gasoline stations were taking advantage of the incident and raising their prices. We heard that as much as $8.00 a gallon was being charged. Due to the fact that we were so far from home and we still planned to drive to Baton Rouge, Louisiana before we went home to Texas, I worried about the gasoline prices. I also worried that perhaps credit cards would not be accepted and we had planned to use our gasoline credit cards. My husband and I went out that evening to service our car and found that lines went around corners to get gasoline and at some pumps, the pumps would be dry by the time the cars would get up to them. I suggested to my husband that we should go to an ATM (Automated Teller Machine) at a bank and withdraw the maximum allowed, $300.00 each, from each of our bank accounts, just in case, credit cards were refused. We did service the car that night and the price was reasonable. We did wait a long time in line but we did get the gasoline. When we were at the ATM, I was a little on nerve, thinking that persons might be over reacting and that we might be held up at the ATM, by a thief, but we were not. Thanks to the good Lord! That night, I cried thinking that we might not be able to go to Louisiana, to see my sons, because of the gasoline prices, or due to what might be happening politically. My husband, stated, we do not have to decide until we get to Tennessee, so maybe we will find that we can continue on South to Louisiana. This gave me hope. We did not have any problems, we did make it to Louisiana safely and without incident. I had badgered my husband to put a ten CD changer in our car, because the car only had a one CD player. This was in vain, because, all the way home, I was constantly changing radio stations, looking for news of what was happening in the world. On the road, we found some cities, holding fund raisers for victims of the WTC, and we contributed. When we arrived home, everyone, was looking for American flags as were we and we could not find one. I grew angry that we were not reacting immediately by declaring war on whoever was at fault, but I continued to trust our President and our government. I still do. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: On the morning of September 11, I was homeschooling my son and youngest daughter. My eldest daughter called saying "Mom, turn on the tv quick." Before my eyes was a burning skyscraper. I couldn't believe it was the World Trade Center. Then I saw the second plane hit and was in disbelief. My daughter called back and told me the Pentagon was hit and there was a car bomb at the State Department(which proved not to be true). Now I was shaking, because my husband works at the State Department. Fortunately my husband called and said the car bomb was a rumor but he definitely had to get out of D.C. He was going to take the subway to Springfield VA and I would pick him up. Well the subway dumped its passengers out at the Pentagon! All of the subway's passengers had to walk farther into Virginia so would I meet him about 6 miles away.When I reached Springfield on I-95 North the State Police where blocking the road. I got off and found my way to him praying all the way, thankful and sorrowful at the same time.
