I'd say that the most significant way that my life changed is that I'm more aware of the reality in which we live. Before 9/11 it seemed unimaginable that there would be a large scale attack on US soil, but sadly we learned that conflict can happen anywhere at any time. I think it's important to understand how our global policy and diplomacy is perceived throughout the world, and if we can take measures to become more independent of resources from hostile regions by looking ahead to cleaner technologies, then I think we should put the effort in to do so.
