Description

I am a financial news reporter, working for Standard & Poor's, which is based in 55 Water Street in New York, close to the WTC. My boss, Chris Donnelly, works in the Water Street office, and I work in Los Angeles.
We communicate mainly by MSN Instant Messenger, and on Sept. 11 I logged in just before 6 a.m. PST, as usual, to be told that the WTC was on fire. I turned on the TV and witnessed the second strike and the buildings falling, and I communicated with Chris throughout.
We were very concerned, not about each other, necessarily, but about one colleague who passed through the WTC on his way to work, another who evacuated soon after the strike, and about a large number of friends and sources who worked in the building.
Attached is the entire transcript of the IM conversation between Chris and I. There's a lot of profanity in it, but I hope you'll be able to find a place in the archive for it.
Regards,
Paddy Hirsch
